Excellent points, I'd agree apart from the makeup thing- I think it's possible for women to enjoy looking after their appearance (I always have and even on days where I don't see anyone, it's a hobby) in the same way men can enjoy putting an effort into their appearance. Obviously we're not held to the same standards but that's another story. I'd actually go as far as to say that the lib fems I've experienced when it comes to make up are more of the "I don't bother with make up or skincare cos I'm not like other girls" variety.

'Sex work is work' is another sickening tenet of lib feminism- easy to say that when you're privileged enough to not have to do sex work and would you like your daughter doing sex work? And no woman is an island- sex work is not just someone making money with a webcam on Only Fans to buy luxury handbags, it's women in less advantaged countries being forced by their pimps to have sex 10 times a day.

Ugh, front page of Reddit today on r/TwoXChromosomes, a TIM's before and after photo with the caption 'trans women are women'.

Thousands of upvotes and a pinned mod post stating that anyone who is transphobic will be banned.

The amount of handmaidens responding gushing with validation is sickening. Many saying things like, "You make a better woman than me!"

Happy IWD all - I love how active this thread is. I rarely get my notifications coming through so I'm always checking back and surprised at how many posts there are. It can be really disheartening having to read through the frequent gender-related posts on the influencer threads, but just have to remind myself that it is very much a vocal minority. At least I have this thread to keep me sane

I've no doubt that it's only a matter of time before TRAs say something like "TERFs are using Sarah Everard to push their sex rights based agenda". I'd be amazed if they're not saying that already

Oh and it really annoys me seeing women like Ash Sarkar tweet about how hard it is for women but then people like her also scoff and sneer at women for being uncomfortable with male bodied people in our spaces.

I look forward to a day when these people look back in shame at the things they said about feminists

So I agree with you entirely that using "females" as a noun is sketchy and has misogynistic overtones.
I disagree that the word "female" excludes trans women. I am as female as any other woman, thank you very much.
On the other hand, when people start pulling out the term ""biologically female"" (I use scare quotes because yikes), that does tend to be pointedly and intentionally exclusionary of trans women.

And if they push further to ask why, you could say something like I do not wish for reference of my gender and sex to be valued more highly than my name... I've said before on this thread that I am seeing more people using pronouns in emails at work and some even changing it in their actual work profile name, and I will not do it. It shouldn't come down to force, it's got nothing to do with how well you can do your job. I completely agree with you that you should not be made to feel bad for not having yours in your signature.

Yes and it insinuates they fight better for women's rights then actual women.

I think it really proves how patriarchal our society is that we still have issues like the pay gap, FGM etc but a few years of men screeching that they’re women and must be recognised as such in law and policy is actually taken more seriously/actioned in a more meaningful way than any of the decades if not centuries old issues that affect bio women. It’s so depressing.

I really don't get why transwomen even have to be brought into this. I'm sorry but the idea that we can't tell is nuts. How come there are never stories in the news that transwomen have been kidnapped, raped or killed in England? Men can bloody well tell.
I'm so angry that Ash Sakar (I think it was) was saying it's worse for transwomen because of some kind of double jeopardy - being both trans and women, they face transphobia and misogyny and the violence that supposedly stems from both. But I thought transwomen ARE women? So how can they face both? If they ARE women it's surely just misogyny? Obviously I don't agree, but even applying a very basic logical scrutiny, it doesn't hold up.
Not to mention Sarah wasn't a transwoman so I'm sorry, but I really don't see how it has anything at all to do with them.
We already have to worry now about policemen - I think someone was saying on a thread on here about how many of us would submit to policemen without a second thought. Are we really now in the position that we have to consider, if we are arrested, whether we are more prepared to risk our lives or the risk of the consequences from resisting arrest if it is genuine. How do we tell? This is certainly something I will worry about going forward.
So, if anything it is totally incoherent to be told 'transwomen matter here too'. Yep, they matter because from the same mouths telling us we need to care more about being diligent about our safety and women's safety matters, comes a spew of insane nonsense about accepting men into our spaces. If a girl walking home can be abducted in a public space, why on EARTH is it so incomprehensible to them that we don't want to share private spaces with men? I don't care how they 'feel' in their head. They are male bodied. Surely that is the be all and end all?

Has anyone seen @tiktok_jess74 on TikTok? Married to a man who decided he was a woman in 2019 after “keeping feelings buried so deep he didn’t know he had them”.

She (Jess) seems like a really nice and honest lady but is so swept up in toxic positivity and “educating” people about trans issues.

Like no, I don’t need “educating” about what it means to be a woman - I am one. Just because others want to change the definition doesn’t mean I have to capitulate. No offence.

I really hate how they assume we aren’t ‘educated’ about it just because we disagree with their take. Such a straw man argument.

I too am a heterosexual woman and I sure as hell do have a horse in this race. As does my daughter and every other biological women in this world. Some of these young women ( like Ash) really do need to cop onto themselves and realise that they are complicit in TRAs attempts to erase and reframe what it is to be a woman. You cannot change your sex and many transgender males are just autogynephilic fetishists and/or misogynists.
