Munroebergdorf on insta has shared a video from a female doctor who is telling transphobes to “keep science out of their mouth if trying to justify your hate and ignorance”. Basically she is saying how some people are born with sexual characteristics (eta: intersex)? that come along during puberty and that sex isn’t binary. That’s over simplifying the matter and trying to use science to clap back at gender critical people. Ugh. I hate when scientists try to disregard, well, Science!

ETA: i came across the video as it was shared by an influenzzzza.
I’m so tired of people using intersex conditions as a “gotcha!”

Intersex conditions are not proof that there aren’t two sexes. They are disorders of sexual development.

It’s like saying human beings don’t have 46 chromosomes, because Down’s syndrome (and other trisomies) exist.

This is why radical feminists like me speak out against this bullshit. So many women (especially Generation Z) do not realise this type of attitude is very much prevalent in the trans community. Instead they support these sexual fetishists and laud them as being ‘stunning and brave.’ Well I have no time for them because I know what a woman is and it isn’t some performative larping by men who think like this one.
Anyway, Happy International Women’s Day to all adult, human females of the world.

Sharing this here as it's useful to have saved! Although I've noticed that whenever a TRA is asked to provide specific examples of JKR being "transphobic" they very rarely reply!

Ash Sarkar is a twat.

Let us not forget that she accused Julie Bindel of being an “anti-trans bigot who doesn’t actually care about women in prison” and produced a screenshot of a two second Twitter search as proof.

This is the same Julie Bindel who founded Justice for Women in 1990, “a feminist campaigning organisation that supports, and advocates on behalf of, women who have fought back against or killed violent men. We strive to eradicate the discrimination in the legal system against women who have suffered male violence.”

We had a great discussion about transgender and identity politics in class yesterday. One of the sticking points, paraphrased a bit:

Lecturer asked if class believed in self identification.
Most of class posted yes.
He said right okay, so you believe a man can identify as a woman?
Yes says the class
He brings up a photo of Rachel Dolezal, who is trans racial. “Do you believe in self identifying now? She identifies as black.”
Lots of murmuring, “No, no that’s wrong, you can’t identify as black, how can you feel like a black woman? What does feeling black feel like?”
“But you said you agreed with self identification, you can’t pick and choose who you support if you believe in it. So you must believe this woman is black, because she says so, because you believe a man when he says self identifies as a woman.”

Silence from class. I think he‘s right though, self identification is a really scary road to go down, from my understanding it’s not recognised in law (if I’ve got this wrong, sorry! I’m only going by what we talked about yesterday. I’d hope it’s not anyway 😬) - which is good. Everyone was respectful mostly, although one of the girls in the class started spouting “well trans people are biologically different from cis people because male and female brains are different in all the studies of trans people they‘ve done all the trans people had a female/male brain (paraphrased but you get the gist, I’m sure that discussion has been brought up here too).., you’re being transphobic if you say otherwise’ which made me eye roll so hard. And also that doesn’t account for detransitioners? cos surely if you BIOLOGICALLY were different and thus needed to transition why then detransition?

Really disappointed that so many people I follow are sharing this today. It’s not ok for men to make it about themselves but it’s acceptable for the trans community to make it about them? Fucking double standards
Cannot stand this what about me attitude. This isn't about trans or crimes against trans people. This is about women being murdered. Do they not realise how All Lives Matter this comes across? Imagine being jealous that women are murdered and it's not about you for once - cant relate!

If TRAs put half as much time as they do tweeting about pronouns and punching TERFs in the face into fighting FGM, the pay gap, period poverty, forced underage marriage and women being raped and murdered maybe we could make some positive bloody changes in society.

Transwomen centring themselves in this issue and attack on women is quite frankly pissing me off. Yes, they will experience transphobia and violence but it is separate from the violence that women face every single day. Why can't they see or acknowledge that? Because they have grown up with male priviledge whether they like it or not. And they have a greater physical advantage should an attack occur. If you want to be a women, at least start with being an ally.

If you can't see sex you can't see sexism, this is why liberal feminists make me so angry

Did anyone see this tweet from Jameela Jamil?

Note how she says especially trans women

What a wonderful feminist, always centering men, even when praising trans people

jameela Jamil is an absolute nut job, her tattle thread is very enlightening lol but anyway, I don’t see how men putting on a dress and lipstick and calling themselves women is ‘leading the fight out of the box women have been put into’ if anything it’s feeding more into it? Now, if those same men wore dresses and lipsticks and still called themselves men, that would be fighting against gender roles. How rude to say that trans women are leading the Way in the fight for women eugh

I just need to have a rant. Twitter today is full of THOUSANDS of stories of women talking about when they've felt unsafe walking home in the wake of the Sarah Everard story. Every woman I know has these inbuilt behaviours and steps we take to try and minimise the chance we're attacked walking home. I'm sorry but all these TW who shout about their oppression have never had to do this. They aren't just going to get snatched off the street and go missing. It's bullshit.

Why can't they just adopt? I am not a fan of surrogacy at all, women are not baby making machines. There are plenty of children in need of loving homes if they really want a family.

I having issues with my teenaged daughter at the moment & feels he’s a young man and wants to change sex. I’ve been told his/ her therapist I must use the pronouns of his choosing, which I am doing but I’m finding it all so confusing and so difficult.
I keep my feelings to myself. If I bring anything remotely up about how he’s young and got a lot of exploring of what he needs wants etc I get swore and shouted out by him.
I once made the mistake of generally chatting about how certain words were used back when I was a teenager in songs etc and not used now because they are seen as offensive. He went absolutely crazy at me like he was possessed and the stormed off to his sisters and refuses to come back home now.

I wholeheartedly love him to pieces and just want him to be happy and want him to experience life first. All I do is my best to support him and I feel like I’ve been dropped because I was talking about what is was like in the past- my teenage years.
We lost his dad a few years back and I’m really not sure if he’s fully dealt with it properly. If I bring up any concerns or anything I don’t want to seen negative or that I’m discriminating him-her. I feel totally lost with all and completely out my dept. Any advice I would really appreciate it.

Sorry for just jumping in with an old topic, I haven't read this thread in a while, but something happened today that made me think of the endometriosis and cervical screening posts and the terms "people with cervixes".

A lot of women/men already don't turn up to their cervical/prostate screenings as it is because of taboo and fear. People understand the words men and women to mean people with penises and prostate and people with uteruses, ovaries and vaginas. I know lots of very well educated cis women and cis men who don't know a) women don't have prostates, and b) women don't pee out of their vagina. How can they then be trusted to know what a cervix is? Those are regular, everyday people.

As a result, I think the everyday language of "male" and "female", "man" and "woman" needs to be retained for the health and safety of everyone. If it offends you as a trans person, that's fine by me, because it could potentially save the lives of other people who don't keep up to date with all the changes in discourse.

Medical language should be clear and simple. Adding things like "menses experiencers" is just obfuscatory.

*edit. Sorry for the poor writing. It's late and I'm angry 😂

*edit again. I also think it's really immature to focus on language and stuff. Just admit you were born a dude and now you've embraced your true self as a woman. All that erasure is just immature to me. It's avoiding a huge part of the topic.

Edit again (sorry). Don't even get me started on how offensive I find period simulation. If you glamorise and simulate that, how dare you call yourself a woman.

Okay. I'm done. When do I get my column in a tabloid? 😊👀
Agree with what you've written but I will never use the word 'cis'. Women and men (but it's mostly women who suffers the ill effects of this ideology) are not sub categories of their own sex.

I disagree about Piers. He may have GC views but he’s no ally to women. He’s a misogynistic arsehole. He doesn’t encourage debate he just shouts people down and then flounces when they say something he doesn’t like. He’s a bully whilst also having a thin skin, I get that he has a large following and that helps get our message across, but we have to have some standards surely.

I understand trans women undergo their own struggles from men and I feel for them and I would support them but why are they so determined to hijack everything ? Before their transition they were exactly the demographic we are talking about so why not just sit this one out and let women who were born women have their say

As soon as you say JK Rowling is responsible for encouraging violence or abuse you've lost all credibility.

The people who are carrying out violence and abuse are the ones responsible.
