Why is surrogacy an answer though? Women being paid to make babies, to me it is making a commodity out of womens bodies and I'm not a fan at all. I can only imagine the long lasting psychological effects on the mother
Ash is a prime example of lib fems who are more than happy to throw women under the bus in the name of intersectional feminism. Why are so many young women so desperate to essentially throw women’s right away and please men. She’s so self righteous, no matter the subject. I do wonder if she’ll feel ashamed about this in the future. Does she still worship at the altar of Corbyn? It’s so hard to keep track.TRAs have got nothing, no logical or rational arguments so they just go for personal attacks
Sad to see a younger woman making snide comments like this
Yep, and what bothers me the most is that, when it comes to medical communication, you really need to keep things as simple as possible. The UK has a lot of people who’s first language may not be English, woman is simple ‘I am a woman so I need to get a smear test’, person with a cervix’ not so simple, ‘do I have a cervix? I don’t know.. what’s a cervix?’ For example@witchofwestbyfleet I get why some (thankfully not all yet) companies want to use descriptors like ‘vagina owners’ but they mean women. Women have vaginas. And if someone who IS a woman but doesn’t want to be known as one doesn’t like being in the same category as ‘women’ then tough, really. Surely if you’re a woman with a cervix you’re going to know you still need a smear test. Not suddenly wake up one day and forget just because you now use they pronouns.
Yes on the endometriosis part, having a male doctor tell you for years in a patronizing tone "periods aren't supposed to be pleasant you know" and prescribe you drugstore medication.Oh I dunno, it would amuse me to see how they deal with being curled up on the floor in pain with endometriosis, and see how they deal with being continually brushed off by the medical profession because "it's part and parcel of being a woman". Oh, and being told by a male doctor when you ask repeatedly for the offending bits to be removed, for 25 YEARS, that "you might want children".
This is the case with many lefty men. Nice chaps - but there comes a point where they just don’t get it. A close friend of mine is the same, lovely guy but he thinks everyone should be treated the same and I’m some kind of ultra feminist.I just had a big argument with a male friend of mine who this I’m ‘disrespectiful’ to trans people because I admitiedly was mocking them by repeating some of the above quotes posted here from trans activists! When I told him that these were direct quotes and sent him screen shots he said it wasn’t fair for me to judge all activists off of a few isolated cases.. argh this guy is one of my best friends, he’s very far left, he has a heart of gold but he just cannot see my point of view and it is SO infuriating, he doesn’t think that women’s spaces or rights are at threat in any way... at this point I almost hope that shit kicks off and gets more crazy just so that people’s eyes can be opened to the madness!
Thats exactly what he’s saying. The misogynyHe's saying that women get more 'mannish' with age and therefore it makes it easier for a transwoman to 'pass'
What planet are you on? Women can't go out in a dress without fear, nor jeans and a jumper or anything else!Around half of trans people experience sexual violence in their lifetime. If you want to read the statistics, they're all out there in black and white (or colour, depending on the website layout!), but I don't know why I'm yelling into an echo chamber, really... Women face a lot of violence too, but we can at least present ourselves the way we want to (eg I can wear a dress or go out in jeans, scruffy jumper and short haircut) without fear. Sure, you get the odd arsehole who wants to yell at us, and lots of women are sexually harassed and abuse - it's awful and more needs to be done about it, of course!! It's just that trans people also face this sort of behaviour - even more so because they're caught between the expectations of their birth genders and those of the gender they want to identify as. You can go on disliking trans people as much as you want, but please read the statistics; despite being a rich, developed country the UK is nowhere near being a 'safe space' for anyone, and denying there's a problem seems only to assert that all ''natural'' women have a perpetual victim status???
