My OH says I call a spade a shovel yet wouldn’t have done it when younger now I don‘t give a 💩
Wouldn't it be wonderful if young girls/teens could have the same freedom and attitude we older ladies now have?
Menopause was an awful time for me both physically and mentally but coming out the other side has been so liberating.

Great news for the north-eastern terven collective: our local p has been in action again, hiding in bins with his trousers down and smearing tit all over the place. Just your average, normal woman going about her average, normal day.

Though LOL at this clear trolling from the Chronicle:

I'm surprised Northumbria Police didn't give him a hair slide - they would have at one time. Course, they've had a good telling off lately 🤭

what the actual fffffffffffck!!! I would be cutting the brother out my life.
And for anyone who hasn’t watched the whole thing… their mother bought his dress. She enabled him to do this to his sister.

She’s needs to start married life by cutting her mum and brother out of her life. Start as you mean to go on.

Hi everyone, I've read this thread on and off for a while and I wonder if this might be a good place to ask for advice. This is long so I'll pop it behind a spoiler.

I have a relative who was trans. She recently detransitioned and is finding a lot of difficulty, gate keeping and opposition for her decision.

For context, she was born a girl and grew up in a household where domestic abuse and sexual abuse was the norm. She struggled with her mental health, depression has always been there. She struggled with her identity as a teenager in terms of going through phases (goth, emo, preppy and so on). As a young adult, she came out as trans and was disowned by her family. She lived abroad for a time and recieved testosterone via the insurance based health service. When she returned to Scotland, she was seen at a gender clinic. The Dr (now retired in Spain) at the clinic did not look into my relative's mental health or history of sexual abuse. She was not assessed by a psychologist either which I find shocking. She now feels that as a naive, young adult, traumatised and confused, she was steered towards transitioning, including being asked leading questions. After a few sessions at the clinic, she had a full mastectomy and hysterectomy in her early 20s (on the NHS) and had been on testosterone for the last 16 years or so.
Last year she was able access support via a mental health nurse and this lead to her realisation regarding her trans identity.
She now feels she became trans as a defence mechanism to cope with the trauma from being abused by men. I think she is right.
She is devastated because now of course, she cannot have children and is struggling with facial hair and a non feminine appearance.
She had to fight to get permission to stop taking testosterone and has only recently been allowed to start taking HRT. She will not recieve help from the NHS for reconstructive surgery. She does not have the funds to fund this privately and this is affecting her mental health.
She has reached out to charities such as Stonewall and Women For Scotland and they don't want to know, stating its not their area.
She is looking to take some sort of legal action against the clinic as she feels and certainly the evidence suggests, that she was pushed into a decision when she didn't have full mental capacity. She has been left feeling let down, rejected and that the trans movement is very much a cult. I'm starting to think that way myself. I supported her for years, for the sake of her mental health and against my own instincts. Since witnessing how establishments are shutting down discourse and access to help for detransitioners, I'm convinced it is a cult now. Detransitioners seem to have pariah status, there is not a great deal of information on the Internet about it even.

Does anyone here have any insights into how my relative can either access affordable or ideally free legal advice? She either needs financial compensation to fund breast reconstruction or somehow convince the NHS to do it for free. That's her biggest issue right now. Thankfully she did not have bottom surgery during the trans years. She is funding regular electrolysis herself. She is heartbroken that she has been robbed of her ability to have children. I've wondered if it's even possible to contact JK Rowling about this but I doubt she reads her own mail. It's just very frustrating because we don't know where to look or who to ask. It's obviously quite a niche and complex situation but my relative deserves help and support. It's utterly galling that men play acting as women will be humoured but a bio woman's issues will be swept under the carpet.
I'd be grateful for any help or advice. I'm feeling especially let down by Women for Scotland and increasingly worried for my relative's mental health.
I am so sorry for your relative's situation right now but I'm sure that I remember you posting on the Jack Monroe thread about the Girls Brigade being transphobic for not accepting lads in frocks. I felt really uncomfortable at that time when Jack declared herself non binary for head pats and money from the Guardian but the thread descended into people policing each other's language and it was impossible to use 'she' for a woman. This is where we are at right now and I find it all very sad.

Menopause really worries me. It doesn't help that there's such a push for "awareness" - except it's not awareness, it's businesses trying to cash in on a "new" market under the guise of being progressive about women's issues. I'm 39, have no peri symptoms, yet I am bombarded with perimenopause content on social media purely because of my age.

I wish we had a society where female solidarity - and knowledge and support for things like menopause - were shared socially among women, and not either shamed and kept secret, or commodified and packaged into a series of goods and services sold back to us through fear and worry - cheers, capitalism.

It's good to hear that the giving a duck diminishes even more as life goes on though. I still care far too much what people think.

When JM outed herself on Reddit recently, it was interesting to me that one of the threads she was posting in was one of the detrans threads. Although it was the supposedly more ‘trans friendly’ one, which set itself up in direct opposition to the so-called transphobic detransitioner thread.

Anyway, I found this interesting but didn’t want to bring it up in the JM threads for obvious reasons. It tells me that Jack is ready to bait and switch as soon as she senses the winds are in her favour ie. she’s taking cover in the ‘trans-friendly’ detransitioner/desister community for now but is priming herself to regain some public acclaim with a trans cult sob story when she thinks the ground is fertile enough. I don’t think she’ll be the only one.

I agree. Most of the awareness campaigns around women’s health are just marketing campaigns dressed up as concern. Often with women using it flog their wares to us too.
I’m knocking on now and don’t give a tit but the other side of that is most people in society also don’t give a tit about older women either.

This hadn't occurred to me (although I did notice she was in a detrans sub), but you're 100% spot on. She will hop onto any movement which she thinks will win her sympathy points and will absolutely lie about her (non-existent) transition like the covert narcissist she is.

I'm not being argumentative but what what is a genuine trans person? No mammals can change sex.
I didn't say they could.

Someone who genuinely feels they've been born in the wrong body, whether other people think they have or not and who after years and years of therapy/help/exploration finally finds "peace" for want of a better word after surgery and a new identity.

Ditto! I used to be the most quiet and shy child, same as a young adult. In my 60s now...hear me ROAR!
God this and it feels GOOD! I love seeing my niece, age 8, so confident and fearless. I don't want it beaten out of her by society.

It was a particularly bad time for me as I'd lost my mum 2 months before I had a hysterectomy. I did get a bit of support from the older women at work but found that a lot of people got weird when the subject came up.
I had no idea about the emotional part of it, I just thought you got a bit hot and had no period. Silly on my part but it's such a huge of a woman's life and there is little to no information about the real impact it has on some of us. I felt like my personality changed overnight.

The good thing is that one of my younger friends is starting to go through menopause now and we've had some long conversations where I've been able to reassure her and give her some advice on how to cope. It's a great feeling to pass on some knowledge and be there for my friend, she's a Terf and GC (I only found out this year) so it's brought another aspect to our friendship.
