The substance of his case seems to be that that trans folk are being told by their employers that they have to use different changing rooms and toilets and this, apparently, has left some of them so stressed that they are unable to continue working....... Further, they feel that htey can no longer access public places because of 'dodgy policies' around toilet use. I hope he's aware that 'dodgy policies' is most definitely not a legal term.
The piece de resistance of his argument is the very dubious claim that the EHRC has a legal obligation to promote a world which is 'safe and kind' to trans folk which is, apparently, all that those who love them want.......As I read this, I found myself humming 'We Are The World' by USA for Africa - which, incidentally, is a far superior song to 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' - but I digress.
I have to say that his approach is one of the most imaginative and nonsensical things that I have ever read. #BeKind is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a legal argument. I really am beginning to wonder if Maugham is a genuine lawyer - maybe he's just self-identifying as one
