In another thread an influencer has been criticised for supporting Mermaids (rightly!) Anyway, someone is insistent that puberty blockers are reversible. I'm not keen on de-railing the thread further by getting into it over there. But on the off chance there are any lurkers who also think this is the case, here are some links to start reading...

From the NYT
From Transgender Trend
&

I'd also recommend reading Hannah Barnes' Time to Think, which looks into the Tavistock Clinic.

I saw your post and totally agree with you. Thanks for the links!

Just seen
When I read articles like this all I can think is, why is this a surprise to anyone? Doesn’t anyone have any common sense anymore? Why do we need studies to show that suicidal teenagers need mental health support rather than to transition? Shouldn’t it be on the TRAs to do studies to prove that transitioning helps? I don’t know how it was ever assumed that it would help. The world has gone crazy and it is terrifying.
(It’s like the awful recent story about “male milk” - to me it’s so obvious that men can’t produce anything like actual breast milk - but society seems to be starting from the premise that they can? It’s all so vile and backwards!)

The hair in pigtails is always a dead giveaway. And when they call themselves a “girl” instead of a “woman” when they’re like 50. (And neither girl nor woman for that matter!)

On another note this made me chuckle

Google's new AI tool - Gemini - is barking mad - this is the future.

ETA - ChatGPT and some of the others also said 'no' to misgendering to avert nuclear war

I do a bit of work testing AIs at home for extra pocket money - I was interested to see a recent task that had us rating the answers to questions as 'too woke/preachy' or not! So there is definitely some tweaking going on.

If anyone follows Dame Katy on X, they'll get the chair reference...JKR being a legend, as usual! 🤣❤

Wonder if you'd get the same answer by asking the question "is it okay to correctly describe Caitlin Jenner's sex to prevent nuclear war"

Which influencer has been promoting Mermaids, out of interest?

Carrie Hope Fletcher - she hasn’t (afaik) supported Mermaids recently, it was just in context of talking about how performative she is. She is totally disingenuous eg she calls JKR transphobic but has accepted gifted Harry Potter merchandise, she is such a beggar she won’t turn anything down which is why we call her Freebie on the thread

Goldsmiths has always been like that. It’s like the Brighton of the University of London.
Lol - my parents were there in the 60s and when I told my mum what it’s like now, she said the same thing (that it’s always been like that)!

Yeah it was Carrie Hope Fletcher. Someone just criticised her for supporting them (I don’t know when/in what capacity) and it went from there 😬

Are there womb transplants/installations for men now?
My sister just brought it up about a born-male she heard of who she is now calling basically a proper woman for getting a tina, and apparently and female organ and womb transplant.
I've never heard of the latter two. Both unnatural and creepy in my opinion, even a bit disturbing.

There was some weirdo in the states somewhere who kept telling people he'd had a womb transplant (implant??), but he's full of crap.

Nah, TRAs keep making out that they are or will become a thing but it’s not true. It is not scientifically viable at all and IMO, it is ethically and morally wrong to even consider such a thing.

Successful womb transplants have been done but not many and of course, all on women.

It wouldn’t even be a transplant anyway, as that implies they have a uterus to replace! It would be an implant. Just more blurring of language from TRAs 🙄

I see, thank you❤
I nearly had a bleeping heart attack when I first heard it.
