The authorities are using the word femicide and calling for an end to the staggering levels of violence against women. There you have it bleeping Himdia Willoughby, Sadiq Khan, pweirdo Tatchell, Emily cheating Bridges - THIS is the reality of actually being female in today’s ducked up world. Not burly blokes in crappy drag outfits cowering in corners afraid of the scary TERFS. So so angry.

I see it like this. The Occupy movement might have been mostly middle class larpers but there was a grain of truth in it that the finance industry were getting away with gambling other people's money and being given special treatment by government and this also applies to big tech as well. This slightly scared them, so the 0.1 percent decided they needed to launder their reputation. Thus, in the early 2010s there was a huge push to espouse progressive yet nonthreatening (to the 0.1 percent) causes like gay marriage, 3rd wave feminism, trans rights, and so forth. To divert the energy of the activist base away from demanding things that might prevent the next financial crisis (and hurt the profits of megacorps) and towards things that look cuddly but are less consequential. This is why we also have ESG scores for investors. It lets funds say, "look, we're nice people now and not short termist gambling addicts" while continuing to make enormous profits in dubious ways.
Big Tech likes it also because they can continue to coin it in and use regulations against hate speech and misinformation to crush or strangle competitors. The Online Safety Bill is an example. Only the biggest platforms can comply with all its requirements, so competitor platforms are hampered from the start.

I had the misfortune to see my first progress flag in the wild yesterday. Great weird thing completely covering a window of a flat. It’s normalising the hideous thought that men cannot be excluded from anything, that we women should put up and shut up, be trampled over so as not to hurt their feelings. To virtually claim we don’t exist, yet any comment or criticism of them is “literal genocide” ffs.

Highly convenient it is the most fashionable thing to be - genderwoo and decolonization in one move! I don’t think she is pretending not to be a woman though.
