Anyone else fed up with people in their 30/40s going on about what they're wearing to go see Barbie? Just feel ones being excited to all be wearing pink is sad and regressive.

I would like to see oppenheimer but gonna wait until this stupid barbie hypes ducks off - i do like greta and the film might be good it's just the hype

You know there are gonna be TIMs joining to get their arousal wearing pink clothes that will barely cover them
I've been ignoring all the press, but even if Barbie is satirical or an in-joke, little girls won't get it but they'll get the impossible image message. It's a shame they didn't make Nuclear Barbie, which could have been a double bill with Oppenheimer and even this former tomboy would go to that!

Incidentally, the two-piece swimsuit is called a bikini after Bikini Atoll in the Pacific, where nuclear tests were conducted, because the effect of the two-piece on men was quite explosive!

I'm with you over the Barbie hype.
I didn't like Barbie as a child let alone now!

I think I'll watch the film but I do think it's a very strong reinforcer of the pink is for girls message which we could do without at the moment really.

Things that can be true simultaneously:
1. Religious conservatives want to strip legal rights from gay people
2. Women still don't have to accept men in our spaces

I don't know how to feel about this. I've seen comments about her critics being advocates of "forced birth" in other places and honestly, we're in the UK, abortion is safe and legal, very few are being "forced" to give birth and I don't think the hyperbolic language helps anyone.

I said it before on an earlier thread, women can and do make terrible decisions and just because sometimes those decisions are made along the same axis on which we're oppressed doesn't mean we are totally without choice, responsibility or the consequences of our actions. Morally I struggle to see the difference here between this and giving birth at 43 weeks then killing the baby, which had an upwards of 95% chance of survival at almost full term. I'm pro choice, but like any choices in life there has to be limits, checks and balances.

That said, it's highly unlikely this woman poses any threat to society, so I'm not sure what purpose a long prison sentences for the sake of bring punitive really serves anyone.
Abortion is not legal though, it is still a crime. It is decriminalised under specific circumstances which always take control out of the hands of the woman - two doctors have to state that something is "wrong" with either the baby, or the mother (her physical and/or mental health would be jeopardised if she doesn't have the abortion.) I don't see why we can't fully legalise abortion but still have a term limit in place. So many people are now arguing "if we push for more liberal abortion laws, it could backfire and our rights could be rolled back!" As if women should just roll over and accept that our rights should/will forever be in the hands of men

I think I'll watch the film but I do think it's a very strong reinforcer of the pink is for girls message which we could do without at the moment really.
I agree with this, it looks fun and I'm going to watch it but I'm so sick of seeing all this "not liking pink or something stereotypically feminine is INTERNALISED MISOGYNY!" talk around the movie. Femininity does not equal woman. Not being feminine isn't "misogyny"

I believe there is a TIM in the movie (of course there is, I think it’s mandatory now for a trans character in every movie and tv show now).

I remember the same guy was in a "woman-focused" horror film several years ago and some people were actually relieved that his character was a TIM rather than just slipping him into a group of women and acting like we're not supposed to notice he's a man ...

And another one !!

As soon as I read the headline, I knew it wouldn’t be a woman. It’s some Poundland Tim Curry. When are we going to stand up and say no to this misreporting and skewed crime statistics ?

It’s so bloody irritating! Even if they don’t want to say ‘man’, they could at least say transwoman so people with only half on eye on the pictures would be aware of the truth.

Hang on, my ring finger is longer than my index finger.
Oh no - I have MANHANDS

or I don’t, I have woman hands because I’m a woman no matter what I or my hands look like.
I looked at mine and confirmed that I am the same!

(In fact - doesn't an extra long ring finger just confirm that you are a VAMPYR! 🧛‍♂️🧛‍♀️🦇, whichever sex you are? I've never managed to turn onto a bat yet -well, an Ole Bat - but that doesn't mean I'm not trying. I eat black pudding at least once a week.)

Is there a reason why an 18 year old adult woman can't speak for herself? Why is mum mollycoddling her?
Why is anyone referring to their adult daughter or son as a "kiddo", FFS?

Non-binary or whatever - if someone can't go to the doctor on their own aged 18, they aren't emotionally mature to decide they want to use batshit pronouns.

Assuming this is the same person (huge coincidence if not) he was sent to prison in 2021 after criminal damage and assault on a security guard.

Wonder if he was sent to a male or female prison?

More female than Martina apparently.
I can’t work out if Willoughby’s just a troll or actually believes his body chemistry is ‘more female than Martina’s’. If the latter, he probably does need to be in an NHS facility tbh (preferably one that indulges patients who think sticking a barcode on a wristband and typing the word female underneath it determines your sex).
