The argument I see the most against a category for trans men and trans women, aside from people flat out not understanding/respecting biology, is “there wouldn’t be enough trans people to make it viable”. What do we think of this? Is there minimum number of how many competitors there need to be for an Olympic event to go ahead?

But you can use that argument against them surely, if the number of trans people are so low/irrelevant why does the whole world need to change to accommodate such a tiny minority?

That is their argument for inclusion - it won't really affect women because there are so few transwomen competing - but if one woman loses a place, loses their record, their earnings, their standing is lost and it affects everyone else who is competing in that arena.

Their chub rub shorts were life changing for me, as I have big thighs and would be in agony after 2 days on holiday. I avoid their adverts as its always morbidly obese women and AGP men.
Their shorts are good and I love their tights. They don't fall down even when I'm being really active. But I hate their woke signaling. In terms of their models, I think model diversity is good, but their models are mostly in the morbid obese range and then they photograph them all so unflatteringly. I once made a complaint as, because I'd bought or been on the website, I was receiving their ads which was very NSFW close-up images of obese women's bottoms in thongs and stockings. I don't expect to follow a tights store and basically end up with content that isn't appropriate if I'm browsing Facebook at lunch on my work computer. I think I ended up blocking their ads for that reason.

You could also make the point that if they really are such a tiny minority (too small to have their own category) then the ones who do exist obviously have a massive physical advantage over biological women or else they wouldn't even rank up there with the best of women's athletes and be able to compete with them in the first place.

It just feels like you need to leave your brain at the door when you accept the argument that trans women (biological men) have no advantage against women in women's sports.

It doesn't validate transwomen as women if there is a third category - they wouldn't compete. Likewise if there were separate trans toilets, changing rooms, etc - there's no point in being a TW if they can't invade our spaces
Exactly - just as they don't want trans toilets, trans changing rooms etc.

Exactly. Lia Thompson was placing in the 400s before he decided to compete in the women's category. I won't even say "transitioned" as he's still entact as far as I'm aware (which makes it all the more disgusting he's allowed in the women's locker room).

I saw this on Twitter and it's so true.

Well yes, there sort of is. The spirit of the Olympics is athletes coming together from around the world, most of whom have no hope of winning, it’s all about the pride of representing. Most events are huge with multiple knock out rounds before the final. The tiny numbers of trans competitors just doesn’t suit elite sporting events. It would be pretty laughable (not to mention expensive) to insert a brand new trans category into every single Olympic event. There are SO many events.

A list, if you’re interested:https://olympics.com/en/sports/

One other thing to bear in mind is that the numbers of trans competitors would be so low, you’d potentially be looking at very mediocre people winning medals simply due to lack of competition. Which would devalue the Olympics massively.

There are hardly any DSD athletes either but they managed to win all 3 medals at 800m when they were allowed to run.

It really is starting to worry me the amount of kids that are coming out as trans. A girl I went to school with’s younger brother has just came out as trans. Maybe it’s wrong of me to say but I’ve always had a feeling he’s gay. But I’m guessing he’s watched a few TikToks and decided he’s a girl called Hannah now.
I honestly think a lot of these kids are gay/les and not quite understanding their feelings and are being pushed into thinking they’re in the wrong body.

We are basically just medicalising gender non conforming people, a huge amount of whom are likely to be gay. And to the staff at the Tavistock this was treated as a joke that there would be no gay people left. When they talk about Gender Critical people committing a genocide against them, I feel like shouting you are literally medicalising and leaving your whole “community” with an unknown of lifelong health issues, higher rates of cancer, bone issues, surgical issues and pain for life, infertility..god knows what else. We literally want to stop that. The thought of so many healthy young vulnerable and upset people doing this is just horrific. The cheerleaders need to take a long hard look at what they are shouting for.

It's basically a new form of conversion therapy, better to have a trans kid than a gay one!

I'm watching Crufts and hearing Clare Balding say the dogs are separated by gender...my eyes have never rolled so far back. Who knew dogs have a gender identity 🥴

I think the easiest solution re trans in sports is to ring fence the women's events for competitors born female, and make men's events open.

This was absolutely heartbreaking - kids being made infertile, girls being unable to walk, even not living beyond a certain age when we live in a time where people are generally living longer. How can anyone think it's "ok" to put children on puberty blockers, coerce them into mutilating their bodies and thus forcing them to live a life of suffering with avoidable health problems?
