I'm with you on that, don't like his music and find him physically repulsive.

I'm actually really tired of seeing popsingers trying to be as sexually provocative as they can. Its boring to me now although I know I'm not the target market. Madonna has a lot to answer for because she started the trend and its never gone away since.

I just find it sad that sex has to sell music and female singers think that they have to look like prostitutes to sell music. It's not empowering for women and detracts from their talent.
Totally agree, I think it's a distraction from how tit the music is.

An episode of M.A.S.H came on earlier. Remember that character Klinger who used to wear dresses to try to get out of the army?

Quite honestly, Klinger was more convincing and likeable than these bleeping rapists.

Comforting to know that "Alexa" unlike Keir Starmer knows what a Woman is.

Whenever I see pop stars trying to be all *sexy* in their videos, my first thought is that they’re trying to cover up how crap their music/singing is eg Madonna, Lil Nas, Sam Smith, Cardi B, Charlie XCX

I can just imagine their producers convincing them they are doing something ‘groundbreaking’ when in fact, they’re just trying to generate publicity for what is essentially, drivel.

madonna has sold 300 million albums and does not deserve to be listed with them especially Sam Smith

I’ll let you have the others but Charli XCX is a slay! ❤ “Lightning” is in my most played list.

That said, I don’t think sexy videos are to make up for a lack of talent (I know 99.9% of people here hate Sam Smith but it’s hard to say he can’t sing). It’s more because boring videos don’t sell the music.

Disagree. She’s mostly crap. She definitely cannot sing live, she just road a wave from the early 80s hence the high sales. It’s not even comparable anyway because pre digital sales were a lot higher. Back then one copy was one sale regardless of how much it was played, whereas these days many streams equal one ‘sale’.

Porn on a work laptop?! Surely there should be a whitelist which porn sites most definitely shouldn’t be on. 😂

Since the decline of MTV and all the music channels I honestly haven’t watched a music video in years. They don’t play on Spotify or anything. Do they play them in clubs? I don’t go out regularly anymore. It’s a surprise to me that they still make them for YouTube.

The Sam Smith issue for me was his non binary Brits tantrum and I don’t really like his music (also ripping off Tom Petty). Watching him do his drag Queen little teapot walk round soho is cringe. As others have said, the music video is trying to shock (like WAP - which I didn’t like) and it’s a bit pathetic really.

Good to see he and him used throughout this article. Confirming that it’s distressing to victims to have to play along with these hole’s mind games. What also upsets me is that, for victims to go through the process of a trial and all that comes with that, one motivator can be to know that they are keeping others safe from their attacker. “What about the ladies?” It breaks my bleeping heart actually.

They still play them on all the music TV channels, and they do still act as a good promotional tool given how popular YouTube is. That said, they try to make them as cheaply as possible these days, hence why you’ll often see some fairly blatant product placement in them!

I didn’t care about the Brits controversy, award shows are pointless anyway. I like the music I like because of how it sounds, I couldn’t give a stuff about how many awards it wins. It’s just the industry patting itself on the back.

Finally on the WAP point that didn’t bother me. They clearly weren’t coerced into doing it and so why not? They released a clean version anyway for radio and if parents let their children onto YouTube unsupervised to see the rude version then that’s on the parents. Too many parents seem to think looking after their own children is everyone else’s responsibility but theirs.
