I hate that the media will shout loudly about the rare 'success stories' but fail to mention the 99.9% of people who won't make a living from it, and could be haunted for years by pictures and videos that they legally signed the rights away to the moment they were posted. All it does is convince other young women to go the same route, as though the virtual streets are paved with gold.

I also hope she's saving some/most of the money she's making. She's an attractive woman but she's 25, in a few years she could easily find herself on the scrapheap because of her age.

I'm also eye-rolling at her 'support your local sex worker' shirt she wears in one of the clips. She's making tens of thousands a month, flying all over the world and is her own boss - her life is not remotely comparable to the average sex-worker.
Came here to post this. I saw the tweets and thought huh, that's a lot of money... Then did a quick Google search and yeah, she's a sex worker. Shocker!

Disgusting that mainstream media will post this and make it sound all cutesy. "Haha she's pretending to be a giant! How funny!" - no, she's flogging porn on OnlyFans 🙄

I very briefly did online sex work (text chat stuff, no videos or anything) and it was soul destroying.

I didn't think it would be easy, but I'm a fairly sexually motivated person so I thought it would be a bit of extra cash. It was hard, the men were (unsurprisingly) bleeping awful, but awful in a grotty, lowest common denominator sort of way. I was privileged in that I wasn't doing it out of absolute necessity. I think you need to be really desensitised to think any of it is normal or desirable tbh.

Aren't you being a bit too optimistic? There have been quite a few articles/documentaries etc recently about women in their 50s, 60s, even 70s being "sex workers" and catering to men with a fetish for "older women". Age need no longer be a barrier for men to buy your body and treat you as an object

There is a post on the unpopular opinions thread saying that women only want equality when it is for something positive. And that women shouldn't be getting priority for leaving Ukraine and should be fighting for as many men to leave as women

I love it when a man comes on and outs his misogyny and tries to tell us what equality is 😑

Some times I reeeeeeeally dislike men

Mortified, I posted this in the wrong thread 🤦🏻‍♀️ Bloody Mother Pukka 😂

Happy women’s history month friends! Yes, I didn’t know we got a whole month either, thought it was just 1 day. I’ve literally seen one account talking about it. After being bombarded and positively hit over the head with LGBT (ie just trans) history month, I’m ready to feel the love for WOMEN.

And yes, you can bet your bottom dollar that trans women will take centre stage, telling us not to talk about pesky womanly things like periods and menopause, because it makes them feel bad 🙄

It's quite galling to see sex work being so openly promoted in the Echo. As someone else said, women aren't making money by "pretending to be a giant", if that woman has truly made £2m it'll be from many, many custom videos of all sorts, all of which being explicit porn.

Women will never win when it comes to prostitution and sex work. You might have the odd woman making big money, or a porn star who is able to set her own terms and rake in the cash. That's a handful of women out of hundreds of thousands, even millions who are involved in sex work. Prostitution and sex work by its nature is designed to keep women away from power and serve men. That's all it is. As we've always said on here, do you think trafficked women find prostitution empowering? No one is writing articles about how much money they're making, are they?

As for the woman in the Echo article, there will be countless men out there with custom videos she has made. Men use sex to exert their power. Do you think they'll care that she's made a bit of cash? It doesn't matter one bit because she's now a "bleep" and men will never see her as anything other than that.

This is a lot for a Tuesday morning lol. But I'll admit it touches a nerve.

An email has gone out at work, references all the awareness days/weeks in march. No mention of womens day.

They constantly reveal themselves to be dumb ducks as well as misogynists. Why would women want "equality" to die in wars started and perpetuated by men? Personally I'd like women not to suffer disproportionately from men's crappy decisions not to be an equal participant in them.

Heh I ignored that person a while back. They briefly commented on the childfree thread with "advice" no one asked for. Cba with blokes lurking on threads and not contributing, only to come out with some irrelevant nonsense.

I’m fully expecting some replies with folk accusing me of transphobia. Cba with that. Annoyed at myself for not checking what thread I was on.
Never been on the thread so it would be daft to reply but gave your comment a wee like❤

Only Fans is like an MLM for ‘sex work’. I take any great claims about people making vast amounts of money from it with a massive pinch of salt.

I had this argument with my daughter. Of course she might be happy, that does not mean every sex worker is. Also, what happens when she decides she no longer wants to do porn? Or Only Fans goes bits up? What if she needs a 'proper' job? If that many men are watching her, pound to a penny someone at a future workplace has seen her doing whatever it is she does. Maybe someone from HR, or some random bloke decides to try it on with blackmail thrown in for good measure. How can she ever have a normal life after doing that?

It’s interesting how we’re supposed to see “sex work as work” but also be horrified at pimps gathering at the Ukrainian border to pick off women desperate to leave, and condemn the fact that so many transwomen are sex workers.

What is it, libfems? Is sex work cool and valid and something to aspire to, or is it bad and dangerous? Because you can’t have it both ways.
