Couldn't stand Anne Widdecomme but bleeping hell these people are vile. And they think they're the progressive ones on the right side of history.
bleeping hell every pissing day I hate people more and more.

Peter Tatchell’s hard drive surely needs looking at. The man is odious.
I do remember watching her on Celebrity Big Brother (yes I’m that high brow) about why she opposed lowering the age of consent for gay men. She said something along the lines of there are a lot of predatory men out there - there was no way you could get raising the age of consent to protect girls through parliament but there was a chance of protecting boys by not lowering the age.
No wonder Tatchel hated her!

I agreed with her on virtually nothing politically, but I thought she was a person with integrity who wasn’t afraid to laugh at herself.
Exactly. And she worked hard for years which is more than can be said for a lot of MPs these days.

Scary that she was murdered, so cruelly. Whether political, random burglary gone wrong or something else, another woman has died at the hands of a man 🤢

An elderly woman not even safe on her own home 😔

I was a teen when this was going through, and couldn't understand why they didn't raise the age of consent across the board instead. It would have given teenage girls more strength to say no to any boy they were being pressured by.

Of course, the majority-male parliament never bothered to consult the boys and girls who would have been directly affected - and protected - by such a law.

The fox is in charge of the hen house.

This is what I mean when I say she reached her conclusions in a way I can understand even where I disagree. I don't think she thought the age of consent should be 16 for anyone. And the reality is that sexual activity between teenagers of the same age wasn't actively criminialised even if the age of consent was higher. And when I heard her speak, it always seemed like she'd be willing to alter her opinion given new evidence.

I can't believe at the age of 40 I'm defending Ann Widdecomb. I've never voted Conservative in my life. But, I miss the days of politics where people could have a view and express it and someone else object and express there view and it didn't descend into hyperbolic screeching and online mob nonsense.

My partner and I have felt genuinely sorry when politicians, union leaders and other high-profile people have died, despite disagreeing with their political views.

I will never understand people celebrating the death of others.

The fact that it now appears to be murder makes the gloating even harder to stomach.

I’ve never voted Conservative in my life but I’m horrified to learn that poor Ann Widdecomb has been murdered. The likes of Tatchel are an utter disgrace. Imagine rejoicing in the violent death of an elderly woman. Tatchel actually makes my skin crawl, there is something very off about him. The “be kind” mob once again show that they are anything but.

Apparently Heather Herbet has tweeted something rather disgusting too (am looking for the original tweet but can't find it, though sadly would not surprise me if it's real)

Herbert's original post was on paedobluesky. His follow up post said "I hope she was handcuffed to the bed as she screamed in agony" referring to his mistaken belief that AW had called for or authorised restraints for incarcerated labouring women. The Guardian had to apologise for that bit of defamation but Herbert is safe from that action since one can't defame the dead.

What is "off" about him are his public statements that nine-year-old children can consent to sex with adults.

I agree with you that the Be Kind mob are the unkindest and least empathetic or compassionate people on the planet.

Certainly fits with framing a brutally murdered woman, who wanted to protect boys from adult sexual predators, as a 'bigotted homophobe'.

As @petitspois said - he needs his hard drive checked...

So many people on here have said more eloquently than I ever could - an elderly lady should be safe in her home, in the country she has served for most of her life - politics shouldn't even be discussed.

I know Ann had a deep faith, and I hope she is at peace

Pleasantly surprised to see this lovely tribute from Buttergasp of all people. Just goes to show that those who knew Ann in private found her to be a kind and decent woman, despite their differing political views. Saw an equally respectful tribute from George Galloway as well. A far cry from all the leftists on social media saying “rest in piss, evil witch” and worse.

Anton du Beke, her Strictly partner spoke very sincerely about her too, and said they had remained friends

I am guessing it was before the awful news broke that she had been murdered, because I think he would have had a different demeanour, in that case, as it is so genuinely shocking.

Not that there was anything wrong with his demeanour, I hasten to add, he was very kind and respectful, and said that he was devastated to hear she had died.

Heartened to see that the current '24 hours most liked' post is mine in the SCG thread, which I ended saying that women and girls not conforming to the male-defined stereotype doesn't make them any less female or feminine. Who says we aren't a nice bunch?

TERFs rule, TIMs drool.

I was going to say fhe same thing but thought to read further, knowing I'd be beaten to it!
If this is they're definition of "be kind" then society is ducked! 😡
