It's so weird isn't it, like off back to your thread ghetto, even when the issue is quite clearly related to the topic at hand. Clearly stuff in forum threads will stay vaguely on topic, but that discussion wasn't off topic, and the number of reactions to those posts speaks volumes.I was thinking the same thing! I get the sense that people sometimes try to regulate where a discussion can happen because they're uncomfortable with the uncertainty or social consequences it, rather than because it's irrelevant.
Someone posts their opinion, and that's OK until they realise that the majority are no longer going to blindly agree with them and might question the thing they've posted. Then suddenly everyone has to duck off back to their niche thread where the people with uncomfortable opinions have to hide.

It happens a lot in this sort of discussion. I've had people say to me about gender ideology, "I don't understand how you can think X isn't a woman when he really feels he is?" or some other "I don't get it" statement, and I'm like, yes, I can clearly and painfully see that you do not understand

Whatever your views on the trans issue itself, how can anyone look at the way women have been treated - simply for expressing an opinion about their own rights, bodies and sports - and not conclude that something has gone badly wrong?
Perhaps many people do think that.
Perhaps they're simply too afraid to say that too.
But I think it was Sall Grover who said that if all the women who've stayed silent spoke up at once, that would be it.
That's all it would take to reveal how small the number of true believers really is.
And yet, still, so many remain silent.
That fear tells us everything.

We need to be so careful when complaining, it's a bleeping minefield and I really resent having to tiptoe around this weirdo who is basically parading her mental health issues and sexual fetishes in front of teenage girls in her care.
We keep rewriting our email, trying to ensure that we cause the maximum amount of concern with the minimum amount of offence, it's exhausting. I wonder how my colleagues and patients would feel if I turned up to work dressed as a cowboy, or a bride or a clown? (Not my sexual fetishes btw!) I'd be told to go home and come back in suitable attire. I definitely wouldn't be allowed to insist that everyone called me Chuckles and allowed me to throw buckets of water over them. But it's perfectly fine for a woman to pretend to be a man and to expect everyone in the whole school to go along with it.

When I’ve had to do these I have concentrated on the unwanted effect it has on my child/myself rather than directly saying that the person is a lunatic (although that was my thought). It would be about how I don’t consent to her being exposed to these ideas and confusing her, it has given us concern over the new knowledge she has and that it is highly inappropriate for her to know such things about the staff and it is erased boundaries that must exist to ensure safeguarding. I also rejected the idea that it was kind to use preferred pronouns, I said that kids will do anything to be kind at that age and it was manipulating them into denying the reality their eyes and ears were telling them. All we have learned about my kids new teachers home life this week is that one likes to kayak and one likes to do gardening. That is the level we should be at.
