People who menstruate? Are you bleeping kidding me?

There's some women who do have painful periods and may have to take the occasional day off but I'm not convinced that this policy will work in womens favour. This will just make men even more wary of employing women of child bearing age.

I've managed to work my entire life battling through periods and then the menopause without having to take days off every month and have had no special treatment ever.

It's a nonsensical idea. Plus I guarantee that actual women would have to provide medical certs or something to prove they were menstruating. Whereas the 'stunning and brave' could just say they are and nobody dares to challenge them because BIGOT etc.

You wouldn’t need to, employers have no right to know about your chosen method of contraception, you could still take the leave as you are able to menstruate. Although if you were found out ( although I have no idea how) you might have to make up the time taken.
What about pregnant women? Do they lose the right to this leave whilst pregnant? Or could they accrue it whilst on maternity leave and tack it on to the end? If a full year is taken then that is 36 extra days, or 7 working weeks plus 1 day. It may also force a pregnancy announcement before the mother feels ready. What if she has an early miscarriage, does she have to share the news so the leave starts again?
Would peri menopausal woman have flexibility on taking this leave to allow for the changes in their cycles, periods turn up at will with no warning during those years.
How about post menopausal women? Employers have no right to know when menstruation ceases, and it could count as age discrimination. Or would they also allow menopausal leave to deal with the myriad of health conditions that menopause can cause?
What about others in those work places? And the effect on female dominated arenas such as childcare where safeguarding ratios are paramount?
And that is before the issues surrounding infertility, cancer survivors, PCOS suffers and any other condition that can cause a lack or irregularity of periods.
This has so clearly not been thought about in any real sense, the Greens just think it sounds good and makes them the party of Women's Rights, which is about as far from the truth as it is possible to get. There does need to be more awareness and support around women’s health in the work place but this sort of glib nonsense it not in any way helpful.

I'm exhausted with asking why so many govt depts treat their women staff/employees with such contempt and disregard? Why are a few men's fantasies more important than safeguarding and protecting women's safety, dignity and privacy?

My coil stopped my periods, but it doesn't for everyone, so how could anyone prove you don't get any bleeding? If necessary, it can vary month to month!

I had the implant done and bled for 5 months until I demanded they took it out. I had been asking since the end of month one but my dr told me it was normal and my body was adjusting! wtf, who bleeds every day and the dr says it’s normal?! I ended up severely anemic and I was so lethargic.

I totally agree with this. TRA make horrific threats to GC women. Nothing ever seems to be done about it.

Its got to be unworkable hasn't it? I work for a public institution and if all my younger colleagues were claiming 36 extra days off a year I'd be annoyed that I never had that privilege before the menopause and that I had to cover for them. Women might then contact their union asking if they could have this time in retrospect or financial compensation as another colleague was offered something that they didn't get.

Yep ask myself the same question the Supreme Court ruled on it eighteen months ago and it’s still not law why? No other law takes so long to be writtten in stone 🤍 and how come it too them so long to accept BLG in the service until recently but trans rules the roost?

It is the law, it's always been the law but ignoring this particular law for so long with absolutely no consequences, and in some cases, actually being applauded for doing so, it should come as no surprise that it remains 'as you were'

Because despite lip service to the contrary, we currently, always have and always will, live in a patriarchal society. Men dominate because they are physically stronger. Even in these more ‘enlightened’ times, there are new ways to express the patriarchy, whether that be through trans ideology, right-wing ‘trad wives’ ideology, the emergence of misogynist ‘manosphere’ influencers - the list goes on. We can fight with intellect, non-compliance and the law to an extent, but it is so bloody hard and never-ending. And even if we use the tools available to us, e.g the SC ruling, achieving compliance is another thing entirely.

The same kind of "normal" that I've been told I'm having with perimenopause turning my once super light and predictable periods into erratic, painful and at times incredibly heavy periods.
WTF!?! I'm too old for this tit. I COULD seek a second third opinion but wait times and costs are a total drag.

If my stupid periods ever decided to finally duck off (see my above post) then I'd be trying to claim days off for things like "no sleep last night thanks to hot flushes, cold sweats and itchy skin"
