I’ll keep an eye on it and try the salt water thing if it starts to look a bit weird. Mine is dry though and I haven’t had issues with that yet thankfully 🤞🏻

ok looking forward to the 1.5 side sleeping then! It’s a week tomorrow and despite being fairly miserable for a few days it’s gone quick. I think it helps that I’ve been signed off for 2 weeks so I can just fully rest, my role involves a lot of driving long distances so I definitely wouldn’t be fit to do it yet anyway but I’m grateful to have the time to focus on recovery.

So odd, it’s like the back of your elbow numb bit. I told my husband and he went a bit green and basically ran away 🤣 but I shall try that if it stays numb for a while thank you.
I work from home and I’ve been working on my little laptop as opposed to my office upstairs as I’m totally milking it 🤫 but I’m pretty sure that’s why my recovery has been so great

You take your time, don’t rush anything

Ugh I feel like with recovering I take a step forward on day then go back again the next 🙄

I felt so good yesterday - really thought I’d turned a corner. Potentially this meant I overdid it, but today I have a lot of weird pain in the numb spot between 2 of my incisions. Almost like a mixture of sharp pain and consistent burning/ tingling. Worse when I breathe. Potentially it’s nerve related based on that but I’m having to hold a pillow to my stomach to soothe it. I’m considering taking a bit of morphine again which I haven’t since day 2.

More annoying when I felt so good yesterday but guess thats just the way it can go.

My sis is a nurse, and as she said to me, be kind to yourself and just let your body recover itself you’ve had an organ taken out of your body.

Several times a week I have cramping in my back and a stitch like pain but it’s not as bad as she’s saying it can get. She advised me to get pain relief from a and e… I’m not there yet! I’m sorry you’ve had problems since :(
OMG. I have kidney stones but I experience the same pain as you cramp in the centre of my back and pain... off to google if gallstones and kidney stones are related

If it's above your kidneys, could also be your pancreas.

Ugh I’m 10 days post op and honestly it’s like a yo-yo. One day I feel ok and like I’m on the mend and then the next my stomach will be in so much pain again. It’s very frustrating.

I got woken up by a lot of pain this morning, but generally sleeping poorly as whenever I move the pain wakes me up. Its definitely internal healing I think as it’s not even in an incision but the big area of stomach inbetween 2. but ugh I just wish it would hurry up! I’m meant to be back at work on Thursday and haven’t even felt able to attempt driving so no idea how that is going to work unless things get a lot better the next couple of days.

Super jealous of everyone who was back to normal in a few days - I was hoping it would be me but no such luck.

It took me a couple of weeks before I started to feel more human, and even then I was still a lot more tired than normal. I'm pretty healthy and active normally and it was tit not being able to even walk that far without feeling dizzy, but you just need to listen to your body and let it heal.

I didn't drive for 2 weeks, then luckily when I went back to work it was just 10/15 mins drive. I put a little cushion over my stomach so my seat belt wouldn't rub. Hope you're feeling better soon x

Back with another post op question, sorry guys!

Did your incisions all heal at different rates? I have 2 which literally look the same as when I left hospital, one that looks like it has some sort of scab over it now (skin coloured scab - keeping an eye on it as it’s raised up and has a slight yellow finger) and the bellybutton one which I can’t tell what is going on as it’s still so bruised. I’m 13 days post op.

I can’t really tell what’s happening with them that well as the glue is still firmly on there despite daily showers.

Yep and the two on my sides I have no scar, the one under boobs is a permanent big scar and the belly button is permanent scar as well

Day 16 post op and I have finally turned the corner 🥳 only little pains here and there and I can eat pretty much anything I want. Very relieved the worst of it is behind me. Still having to sleep on my back but I reckon in a couple of days I’ll be able to side sleep again 🤞🏻

So yeah if anyone here is pre op, even if you feel awful for the first 2 weeks, you will eventually get there 😊

Did anyone have issues eating bread post op?

I have literally eaten everything,Mexican, Chinese, and been absolutely fine BUT… can’t eat bread/bagels without immediately needing the bathroom.

Even plain white toast seems to do it. Really odd because i seem to be able to eat very fatty stuff with no issue? Not the end of the world, just a bit strange.

Been thinking of you @JLXRD How you getting on?
---
How’re you? @Helena Sell
Doing really well thank you @pink_lemonade ♥ glues finally all come off, wounds are healing well and not hurting much at all now. Still tired and having issues with some food, not been able to drive easily yet, but hopefully in time 🤞🏻

How are you getting on? Have you spoken to a surgeon yet?

Glad things are getting better for you!! I’ve read about the issues with food, but as you said in time I think it all calms down.

I’ve had 2 attacks tonight, really randomly however I’ve had to go through a really rough week this week (TW - abortion) and had an abortion yesterday and I’m sure that has brought on the attacks tonight. As my gallbladder pains are all normally hormone triggered, it would make sense.

My doctor was meant to call but didn’t, I had a text to say she has referred me to get the stones removed, I didn’t realise that was an option, I thought it was just gallbladder removed and that’s that!

Has anyone just has gallstones removed? Or heard of it?

Sorry to hear you’ve had some attacks, hope they resolve for you soon ♥

hmm so from what I have read and what my surgeon told me, if they just remove the stones they are very likely to come back within 6-12 months and you just need to have it done again hence the preference for removing the whole GB. There was some stuff about using methods to break them down but apparently this is a very long process and again they can recur. But see what your consultant/surgeon says, out of interest are you in the UK? I know Uk and US preference is to get the GB removed but I think other countries have other methods they recommend.

Look up bile acid diarrhea. There's a great facebook group for it but this is what I got diagnosed with and its common after gallbladder removal. For me it was more based around time between eating. So if i eat little and often I'm usually ok. If i dont eat breakfast then have ANYTHING including salad for lunch its running to loo time. Tmi but its never even fully digested! You can run low on vitamins and minerals and progressively start to feel worse.

Wow what a 24 hours! I’m currently in hospital with pancreatitis causes from gallstones!
Hope they sort you out quickly, that's what landed me in hospital in January. Take it very easy when they let you go home, it's a heck of a thing for your body to fight off.

Oh blimey, I hope you’re feeling better very soon. Only positive is this may help speed up the referrals for surgery you were waiting for 🤞🏻
