I feel so sorry for the staff at poorly run places/places with tit policies etc because they're the ones who have to deal with the customers. We never met him directly, I have to be careful what I say to protect us here, but 4 years ago we took on a hotel he owned as managers. We walked into a death trap, the hotel had 3 floors and no fire safety at all. We brought up our concerns over and over and was fobbed off so we got in touch with the fire service directly and they came out and promptly closed 2 floors down and turffed out 16 rooms of holiday makers at around 11pm, we was speaking to him on the phone keeping him upto date and he asked to speak to the fire officer's. He told them that the hotel had been like that for a very long time ( he'd not owned it for very long at this stage) so a few more weeks wouldn't make much difference. The fire offices couldn't believe what he was saying.
The hotel had no shower power, no internet, no dining room or food, no parking, you wasn't allowed to drink alcohol in the hotel. The rooms was filthy.(We turned them around) We worked from 7am until 11pm.without a day off week in week out. It was awful. And that was just the first hotel we worked at!
I hope you've ended up somewhere nicer!
