Ladies, I'm gonna probably go for a while. I have a lot to do, and I'm super stressed over finals and I HAVE to get them done, then right after, my birthday day trip, as soon as I get home, I have to pack for Europe and then I'll be gone for a while. Probably won't be back on here til June. I was already planning on leaving for a bit, but its gonna be earlier than expected.

I’m starting the process of getting an autism diagnosis next week. This time last year I didn’t even think it was a possibility. After doing research my life experiences have started to make more sense so I’m excited for the journey of discovering more about myself.

Its also so common for women to be diagnosed in their 20s and later in life because we tend to ‘mask’

I haven't read past this post but my 16 year old has been professionally diagnosed recently and it's been such a relief for us all. Her dad is on the spectrum too, but we never picked up on it because it manifests so differently in girls (it wasn't even picked up in him til late). She was quite defensive at first but now she flies her neurodivergent flag proudly and after years of not really socialising because she was mentally exhausted from masking, she graduated yesterday from school with a shirt full of signatures and a gang of friends who understand her. She's even going to prom (in the most extra dress ever ). However you are feeling about it, it's so much better for everyone when they can understand you. After all, it's just a different way of seeing things. Sending all the love

I was diagnosed with add when i was almost 30. It was also a big relief. I felt different all my life and felt depressed about that. But now finally i could accept the fact that i was "different" than the others and that it was ok. I finally understand why i had difficulties in making friends or keeping them. I finally accepted and understood that my brain was chaotic because of add, and not for being weird. Finally i understand i needed time alone to recharge and i took that time (before i just did what everybody did and i became tired and depressed).
Now i know i have add and to live with it. My life is so much better. Because i know my boundaries, and know the signals to take time for myself. I have more energy left to do nice things. I even got more friends then i did before the diagnosis.

And thank you everyone for sharing personal things. It feels good to write it down.
