So much French pass-ag from Pierre in his interview on Sky, I’m sensing he knows he’s stuck at AT for another year 😢
i thought so too 😭

there was sense of sad acceptance from him which we hadn’t seen before with this whole thing. FREE THAT MAN.

Definitely, that comment about spending five years at AT and not wanting to spend his whole career there felt like a pop shot cos he’s angry 😂

Time for us to do our weekly I’MA GETCHU OUT video revisit.

YOU DON’T BELONG IN THERE 😭😭

poor pierre. i feel he’s missed out due to some stupid red bull power move with an indycar driver who isn’t even all that great. makes me so mad.

Yeah, I’ve got no idea why they’re so fixated on getting Herta? Such a bizarre decision. Especially when they’ve got junior drivers waiting in the ranks. I’m sorry but the car is a complete shitbox this year, doesn’t matter who Marko holds out for 🙄 SO GET MY MAN OUT.

Him wearing a crucifix somehow just makes him so much hotter. Like I'm not religious, but his baggy ways in front of Jesus makes me horny. It's so bad. 😆

Jesus would've approved I'm sure, the last supper was all men so we know how that really went.

i mean the last supper basically ended with two men kissing in front of a load of other guys (i may be paraphrasing here) so you’re not wrong stephen!

i truly don’t get the fuss with herta. i don’t watch indycar a lot but he hasn’t really stood out for me beyond apparently pretending to be 22. if they’re really set on having an american driver then surely there were other options? they just have known that the fia were never going to let in a driver without a super licence, they’ve literally never done that before. why is the world against pierre?!?!!

Where does the magical man go? Say he stays at AT till the end of 2023, what seats become open? Someone will take a punt on him surely?
Aka what seats are open for 2024 with drivers out of contract

on tonight’s episode of crying into croissants:

it depends on lewis for me - who knows how much longer he stays (i’m convinced he’ll do at least one more season though) so that mercedes seat is up for grabs at some point, but pierre is already 26. he’ll be 28 in 2024 which isn’t old but is like the conversation we had about nyck yesterday. it’s unlikely that a team like merc would take a punt on a late 20s driver unless they want a second driver for george. would pierre want to do that?

my worry with him has always been that he’s part of a group that’s kinda a golden generation (the ones who are 24-26 right now), and one or two drivers were always going to miss out because they can’t all have great seats on solid teams. eventually the opportunities start disappearing, like with danny ricc atm. red bull really screwed him over when he only needed a bit more patience.

i worry that the timing will never be right for him in the same way that i feel ferrari will waste charles’ golden years of talent.

Mate, this has tipped me over the edge into the deepest depression. Get some Edith Piaf on cos I’m about to cry all over the croissants. But your fears are exactly the same as mine, I think he placed all his chips on getting the RB seat and it’s backfired in a big way. Maybe if he’d got out earlier and taken a gamble he could’ve been elsewhere paving a decent career for himself. French woe 😔 My heart breaks for him every time he mentions his future.

🎶 non, je ne regrette rien 🎶

i’m sorry! :( BUT that’s just a worst case scenario- the flip side is that alpine obviously really want/wanted him and there could be a chance that they push to make the move, they don’t exactly have many other options.

i agree with the RB seat. i think they didn’t know quite how to deal with a driver who needed a bit more care (as seb/daniel/max all hit the ground running). both him and alex suffered from that. and maybe he thought things would change but checo getting that seat must have been a huge blow.

he has a good reputation and lewis seems to be a big fan of his so who knows what could happen (go on sir, put a word in at merc 😉)

I’m actually so sad about all the boos Max has been getting in Italy and also all the hate George is getting for just being George?
The fandom has become very, very hateful towards drivers and just basically everyone 🥺 wouldn’t wish it on anyone, the mental resilience these people have is crazy

I enjoy all the F1 content online and that includes teasing drivers/teams etc. The actual hate thing I do not understand. It has been draining recently just reading things and I have had to make deliberate attempts to step back as I consume F1 content for fun.

Not to harp on about various podcasts I've listened to, but in the Bottas one he talked about how close he was to retiring after the 2018 season as he was so mentally burned out & just couldn't take it any more. He had made the decision to retire, but hadn't informed anyone & ended up having a mental shift over the winter break where he felt like he could do it all again.

same :( i don’t hate any of the drivers really (not the current ones anyway 🤣) - none of them have done anything worthy of it. i’m glad that max is obviously able to rise above those boos but what has he actually done that’s so bad? likewise, yes george can be a bit head-boy sometimes but come on.

i find that twitter in particular seems to cast lewis and daniel as the Main Characters, and lewis in particular seems to have a whole army that will say awful stuff under the guise of standing up for him. the reaction george got last week was just so ott. some of the stuff they say about max crosses the line too. i know they’re only a small proportion of his fans though.

social media just gives people too much access to celebrities. i saw people laughing about getting blocked by george for tweeting “funny” queen memes to him and calling him a tory twit for his queen tweet - and why wouldn’t he block you? he’s not obliged to put up with that because he’s “famous”.

Exactly. As a Merc fan, obviously Verstappen is not the favourite in our household after Abu Dhabi ‘21, but I can still appreciate and applaud his efforts this season and a win of his first (😉) WDC. I can’t imagine expending such anger and hatred on something which is, ultimately, a sport of which the outcome doesn’t affect our lives. It’s supposed to be fun and entertaining.

Having watched the Dutch GP and seeing/hearing the crowds attitude there, I would feel very intimidated to go there as a Merc fan next year.

Yes, Lewis is the golden boy for fans even when he’s consistently underperforming this year, yet can do no wrong. George stole his podium etc etc.

I love F1 it has many happy memories of watching it grow up. However I am so over the hate comments guising it as they stans of such and a driver (usually Lewis). I don't hate any driver, I can't hate them I don't know them. There are some I really like and others I'm not keen on. Never would I feel it was OK to hate and some of the comments are damn right disgusting and really highlights what kind of people they are
