It's not his fault this war is happening, he didn't personally start it himself. I don't think its fair for all the other Russian's who've worked hard in motorsport (or any other industry) who are now having their (foreseeable) future torn away by something outwith their control. Many Russian's didn't want this, yet they have to face the consequences of it
Yes, his dad might be associated with Putin- doesn't mean Mazepin condones that actions of what's going on. I guess it would be different if he was actively himself encouraging the war, but he isn't.... it just doesn't seem right to me

Does anyone know if he had another nationality? He could race under another flag, and that would ease up the situation.
I know he put a statement up a few days going saying he couldn't control what was going on, focusing on working with his team, etc. but it would have been good for him to condemn what was happening and didn't support what was happening in the Ukraine, just like many of the other drivers have. But he hasn't. Is that because he's been advised not to from a lawyer or some sort? Or daddy told him not to? I know Putin doesn't like anyone speaking out against the Russian government.

He's damned either way in this situ but all the stuff he did before (Punching Ilott, attacking Tsunoda with a P2 sign, laughing at rascism against Tsunoda let alone the groping incident) means he's trash to me.
I'm not going to cry over some poor sportsman not being able to compete because of his nationality when Ukranian people are being bombed by Putin. Soft power is the only way out of this, hopefully Russians are inconvenienced enough to effect the end of Putin.
I don’t have any sympathy for Mazepin he has accepted his dads money as his dad bought him that seat so imo he is not against anything his father does.

The citizens are facing the brunt of what is going on and it's not affecting Putin personally- he's still in power, he still can effectively do what he wants
I'm feeling sorry for all the citizens of Russia (not Mazepin in particular) who are being penalised for something outwith their control
(And obviously I am devasted for the Ukranian individuals too who are ultimately the most affected by what is happening)

I didn't know about that. I barely pay attention to him to be fair. I just don't think condemning a whole population for the action of a megalomaniac unlawfully elected is a good move. I've seen a lot of anti Russian propaganda and it just doesn't work like that in an authoritarian country.
So who could get his seat, any names, any favorite?
The general Russian population are suffering although not as much as the Ukranians, Kyvat is sunning himself in Miami. He can duck off with his pity party. It's the elite Russians that need to be affected either by having their money cut off or their privileges or preferably both.
I’ve hear either there reserve driver or bringing back Giovanazzi as if haas is trying to become a Ferrari junior it’s good to have both Ferrari reserve drivers in both seats and he has worked with mick at Ferrari before but I have no clue.
Robert Schuazmen was born in Israel wasn’t he? So he could technically race under that flag?
Fitipaldi is being banded around but it seems that’s more Gunthers words being taken out of context- as their reserve he’d jump in last minute if Mazepin was suddenly dropped. After a double rookie year I’d imagine they’ll look for someone with some experience.
Hulk is another name I’ve seen- another German driver would definitely be something that could encourage 1&1 to spend more.
Gio, I think, is the likely candidate. He knows Ferrari machinery pretty well, has a good rep for setting up a car well, and as the only Italian driver would bring decent sponsorship. Not maz levels, but a decent amount.
Agree it’s unfortunate that Nikita is likely to lose his seat, daddy Mazepin was at the Kremlin the week before last though.. the family are very close to Putin. But at the end of the day, it’s the peril of being a paid driver I guess- when the moneys gone you’re gone too.

No money=No seat surely, plus could be impacted by visa restrictions various countries may impose yet. I would still count on Mazepin being replaced.
