he wont ever apologise.
nico seems v moody today with the references to his rivalry with Lewis 😆. He also seemed to keep asking Naomi questions/ testing her?
I think he quite often questions the other pundits and puts them on the spot

Yeh I don’t know why they pushed it so much. Let’s hope Lando doesn’t end up catching Max in the WDC and today’s result is irrelevant.
It shows a lack of winning mentality at McLaren still. Have confidence in the team/car/drivers that Lando is 2nd in the Championship and closing on Max, have confidence he can keep doing it and get every advantage you can for that driver.

I get why they asked Lando to let Oscar past. The strategy of Lando putting first made sense to protect Lando from the undercut against Lewis.

McLaren handled it badly on the radio for me. It should've had Andrea Stella on the radio early on and saying very clearly what needed to happen, none of the manipulative language Lando got from Will on the radio.

And it does sadly taint Oscar's win somewhat. People will forget it. But it does taint it slightly. Due to bad team management.

Just watched the replay today. Cringing so hard at Lando, especially the way he talked to Lewis in the cool down room. Someone needs humbling fast.

i really didn’t like how he threw his cap to the ground in the cool-down room and then appeared to dodge oscar on the podium. i don’t care how frustrated you are, you can be a decent person and act happy for your teammate on their first ever winning podium. i do think he gets coddled hugely when interviewed after races he doesn’t win too (in a way that not many other drivers do).

as said though, as a ferrari fan, absolutely landed that there was that much radio drama and none of it involved us 🤣

I have openly disliked him for a while. He buys into his own hype.
There was a clip yesterday at the drivers parade of Lewis explaining something to George with his hands, clearly giving him a tip or explaining something about the track. Then you have Lando attacking him in the cool down room when he really should be soaking up any bit of advice or feedback a man with 104 race wins can give him instead of being a cat with a single win to his name.

I have found my people! Was beginning to think I was in the minority for not finding the behaviour endearing at all!

I’ve always found him an arrogant little tit but thought I was the only one. People tend to show their true colours when going through tough times.

Lando is possibly suffering from a bit of over exposure at the moment. First win and being at the front means he gets more coverage. I think they are all prone to believing their own hype (they kind of have to, to make it to Formula 1) but we’re just seeing it a bit more with him at the moment.

It’s also the first time he’s been there fighting at the front and like Ted said the point he was maybe trying to prove was that he’s a champion in waiting so like Max, Seb and Michael before him he wasn’t prepared to give up a win. We literally saw him battling that in his mind in a way we don’t see other sportspeople do because of the access to the radio comms.

Look at how hated Seb was for multi-21. The arrogant upstart ignoring team orders and thinking he’d made it already.

I did notice he didn’t greet Oscar when he arrived for the team photo but he was there and it looked like a genuine smile. Altogether it’s a very complicated situation and really there were no winners from it, including Oscar being the winner and all the talk being it was because of team orders.

Well yeah and no. He has the hunger to be a champion and see his "friend" if they still are, Max pretty much doing as he likes. As much as McLaren say both drivers are treated the same I don't buy this either. The fact they all agreed and talked about what might happen if they did what happened yesterday and the radio calls we heard, to me sounds like someone needs to shout louder ad make both drivers know who is in charge. I think also Lando has been a little down over Silverstone, not winning has maybe already dented his ego. I certainly don't think his ego is anywhere near Max's but I was concerned to see a little change in him.

Headlines like this probably don’t help either, especially when we know he’s already hard on himself, I haven’t had time to read the article to see if it’s fair or harsh

but he’s not the first and won’t be the last driver to have an article like that written about him. and that headline is true, and he struggles to convert poles to wins in a way that only charles can match.

it does always interest me with lando how different the tone is when he’s interviewed post-race on sky (compared to say george or charles going for similarity aged drivers) where it’s always aw lando you’ll get it next time! don’t worry! whereas most others get well what went wrong there etc. he IS hard on himself, but no more or less than anyone else i would say. they all just manifest it in different ways and they all can’t dodge bad/honest press for it.

Oh of course they all get this kind of press and criticism and then questions about their ability (Checo, DR just this season) but Lando does seem more in his own head about that whereas other drivers just shrug that off. I think that’s why the pundits try and jolly him out of being in a mood over it. They definitely treat him differently to George over on Sky as well.

It's that all journos talking like that to Lando? Yeah Sky F1 might but let's face it they are bias to the 3 Brit boys. When George retired at Silverstone the tone was the same to him as any driver who was leading and retired. All drivers are selfish and hard on themselves as they have to be as if keep failing they lose their seat.
Exactly bad press hurts everyone with the exception of 1 driver.

If you want to get a better insight into why lando speaks about himself the way he does (and why he comes across so negative) he’s very honest about this in the beyond the grid ep he’s done recently. It was a very interesting listen to hear his version of psychology etc that he uses to get the best out of himself, the pundits don’t seem to get that and jenson made a comment where he was like he needs to be kinder to himself so it’s all one big cycle imo

I didn't love the way that Lando was in the cooldown room, but I feel really feel for him. Imagine how it must to be on the cusp of winning the last handful of races and then have it slip through your fingers. Especially when you've had to wait for years to have a car that's capable of fighting at the front. Barcelona was his mistake for losing it off the line (though tbh, he actually didn't have a bad start, he just suffered from George getting a superb start), Imola I don't think was going to happen (even if he did catch up to Max with a few more laps to go he likely wouldn't have passed because Imola is such a tough track to pass on), but Silverstone and Canada were lost on terrible strategy from the team. Austria was super close too but the less said about that the better. So it must be even more galling to have your team kind of hand you the win through their own strategy mistake then ask for it back. If he'd have won a few more races this year then maybe he's a little more chilled about it. But I feel gutted for him tbh.
