All the colour makes so much difference @SoulRebel and that twisty beam is amazing! I'm eyeing my Artex ceilings with contempt. Is that a door to a mouse house in the bathroom?

No, but the neighbour whose field they've parked themselves outside of says they're still there every morning. We're scanning with her sheep, so they might come in with them. I did see April and the other two yesterday - Mr F and I were rolling out a new hay bale ready to move the horses and saw three sheep close in by the fence, one of which looked like the Incredible Hulk because she was covered in green raddle paint, so went up to see if it was ours. The green one was, the other two weren't, but April and the other one were on the next hill over with a neighbour's flock, he's put some old hay bales out. We tried a 'LAAAAAAIIIIDIIIIEEEEEEES' and got two answering 'BAAAAAAAA's, but they were quite happy where they were and we didn't have a bucket of food with us, so they didn't bother coming over! We'll nab them next week :)

Oh, I do have another character to introduce to you. Say hello to Little Nine.

20210201_092859.jpg

In April's absence, Nine is the leader of the rest, but she's not quite as bold as April - this morning they will eat from this pile of hay at the bottom of the field if I'm standing there, but if I try to go inside they're back off up the top at speed. They don't like coming down past the house in case the dogs come out into the garden, so I'm hauling armfuls of hay up to the top for them.

Anyway, Little Nine got her name because she was the lamb of the 9th ewe to lamb here in 2018, so started life with a big green 9 on her side. Her mum was a ewe I'd bought in poor condition at a sale because I felt sorry for her, six weeks before she was due to lamb, and I never really got enough condition on her before 9 was born. She had a bit of milk, enough to keep 9 suckling, but not enough for her to grow properly and because 9 was getting enough to keep her alive from her mum, plus catching a drink off another ewe when they were distracted, she never really took to bottle feeding. Sadly/happily another ewe's lamb was stillborn 2 weeks later and with a bit of careful disguise (don't ask, it involves sheep bodily fluids) the ewe was tricked into thinking 9 was her lamb. 9 wasn't so sure at first, but quickly became convinced of the joys of a full milk bar and when they eventually went back into the field with her birth mother, the two ewes shared feeding duties.

Hello fraus. Hope you're all doing ok.

Loving the sheep and new (or not so new) man stories.

In exciting news here, though I can't remember what exciting news I've already related, we now have multiple offers on the house we're selling. It's a surprisingly hard decision to make, especially for MrF whose lived there a long time and has lots of memories in the house. I've also made the mistake of absolutely falling in love with a house that's been on the market for ages and that is completely ridiculous and impractical. Well, not completely, but it's a 'character property' and has countryside features that make it less straightforward than, you know, a new build in town.

Both MrF and I are not fans of house moving and so are sort of planning to try and buy somewhere that will suit us now, but also will suit when we get older. This is making me feel very old (I'm *only* 42!), but it does make sense, but it's making the decision v hard as both of us want something 'different' and this is our one chance to find it.

I am aware of how first world problem this all is, sorry, it's awful really isn't it? We're incredibly lucky to be in a position that's going to let us choose something very lovely, but this is the first time in my life I am going to be able to do this, and both of us have fought incredibly hard to get to a happy place in our lives and while we aren't there yet, it's getting closer, and I'm feeling all sorts of emotions that aren't quite the ones I thought I would have.

My word that was a ramble, sorry for making you read my diary entry.

Morning all ❤

@SoulRebel - love your house, particularly your bathroom ceiling and that light! I'd love to have dangling lights similar to that, but mobile home = impractically low ceilings 😬. Saying that, it did not stop the previous owners of my mobile, they had chandeliers in the front room! 🙄

@Falkor - enjoyed the sheep photos, excited for February 8th!

@Flumps - congrats on the house offers, do you think you might go for the slightly impractical but lovely house?

I know we usually show off socks on here but I wanted to show off my new tights today. They're teal which is my favourite colour and made by a company called Snag, don't know if anyone else uses them? Super well fitting tights for all body sizes and shapes!

I don't know. It's a bit overpriced I think, because of the loveliness, but it's been on the market for ages, so maybe they'll have to be a bit flexible on the price. If we bought it there'd be things we'd need to do, so we'll have to factor that in. MrF is being sensible and practical about it, so he'll keep my tendency to heart-based decision making in check. It would be an incredible place to live. Don't want to 🔺 too much, but it's somewhere that didn't use to be a house made into a house, and it's so beautiful.

Oh I love converted houses, so much character! House hunting can be quite an emotional thing, and you can get so attached to a place before you even have it. Especially at the moment as we all know we could be potentially spending a lot of time in our houses for the forseeable. Haveyou seen any other places you love? We bought a house just before the first lockdown and it was a huge doer upper to the point of being unliveable - we still haven't moved in! But sooo close now and it's been worth all the stress in the end. But we were very lucky to be in a situation where we could live nearby with extremely cheap rent which was a huge privilege

I have discovered Jenny Eclair has a pod cast (late to the party, it started in 2018).
it’s called “Older and wider”, I’m listening as I sew (I’m furloughed again).

I've seen other places that I know with my sensible head on would work, and would suit us, but nothing that makes my heart go a bit fluttery. Though maybe it's unreasonable of me to want a house that makes my heart sing. It's actually ready to move into, the work has all been done and people have lived in it for a while, but we'll need to do some work outside. So, it's not like we'd have to get a caravan and go all Grand Designs or anything (though know MrF would love that), but it's deciding if we want to do what is essentially country-living (if within sniffing distance of a town).

@Flumps the decision regarding head and heart when buying a property is a tough one. I bought an old house that I adore and feel lucky to live in but my word its like having another child! Always demanding attention and needing money.

@Falkor I have such an emotional reaction to the seriously fluffy sheep and Little Nine. Its hard to describe but your photos and stories make me feel connected to the world. We are thinking of buying a kitten and I now want to call it Little Nine.

All the food envy for @Bumbear :m

I am finally getting around to make changes in my house after Bin-bleep moved out and @SoulRebel your bright kitchen inspires me. Its so liberating not having to compromise with someone who veto's my choices.

Oh and @Nottonightbabe I have teal pillows in every room as I love the colour.

He spent the weekend here with me. We didn't even put the TV on as we talked and talked and laughed and drank all the wine. We are like teenagers, he is a great kisser. I'd forgotten the joy of a good hard, passionate kiss. I cooked for him while he sat on the bar stool in the kitchen and I cant remember being so happy. A few weeks ago I mentioned that the small things in life are of great importance right now and said I had used up the last of my lovely 'gifted' (not from a muddy puddle) Liz Earle shower gel that felt like a luxury each morning and cheered me up. He left yesterday and this morning in my bathroom shower I found a new shower gel that he had left here for me. I know so many people are struggling and this is a small happiness and hopefulness in my life while I navigate divorce and financial split.

I was putting the dinner out yesterday and my child asked if we should put all on the big plate and it made me think about @Alansbigplate and I was worried Ive not seen you for a while.

Ive never even seen that recipe before @blurstoftimes but it looks amazing and just perfect for this time of year.

@Alansbigplate we miss you 💕💕💕

It's once again a pasta e ceci recipe by Rachel Roddy! Just pork broth, then some aromatics, chickpeas and pasta. So wholesome and filling.

I'm currently nervously waiting to hear whether I've got a place on a very specialised PGCert next year that would mean a total career change. Supposed to be doing my actual job today but I can't stop refreshing the page
