Yes her style is a weird blend of rich boho rock chick & mum on the run. Far to fussy/busy for her petite frame.

Am I missing something or is River’s last name De Force? (taking after Mike De Force..?)

😂
De Force is not their real name. She made it up as a play on words.. Like tour de force.. Fleur de force.

Their surname is Bell. Fleur's maiden name was Westaway.
Doesn’t it literally translate to “flower power”? I thought that was the story behind it? Maybe not.

Oh you're right! Not going by a real name is pretty odd when you think about it. That's why so many people think it must be her actual name.

She is probably one of the few who hasn’t rebranded to use her real name!

to be fair they’re so posh, i don’t think people tend to question that it might not be their real last name 😂
So true! Now I'm thinking about it I can see why it must be so confusing if you're a newish viewer of hers. Especially as she refers to Mike as Mike De Force and MDF. Most youtubers who used an alias to start with have ditched it a long time ago.

I think its because although a lot of her subs know she is well off, they assume she's this way because of Mike's family! If she went by her maiden name, its very easy to see she also comes from a multi-millionaire family. Personally I think that might put people off her and shine too much light on both families businesses which they may not want.

That’s very true.

I suppose maybe, also, most of the ones who have rebranded have had to do so because it was a false persona (I’m thinking Zoella, Sprinkle of Glitter, etc) and they got fed up of that. Fleur has, at least, never had that sort of false persona that she’s had to shake up.

Yeah, I always assumed she did it because her maiden name is fairly distinctive and would have tied it to her family's business, plus at first she was quite hesitant to mention that her brother was in a well known band so it allowed distance from that too.

the same as sunbeamjess- from a very well off family and has not rebranded to her full name

I think it is also because her chosen name is quite 'mature' - nothing to do with make up, guru, sparkles, beauty. I think a lot of the people that started in the beauty category tried to make their online name reflect that.

I think Ingrid with "Miss glamorazzi"was one of the worst at the time (in my view) the name made me cringe every time.

I completely forgot about Ingrid's name before!!! I'm in hysterics 🤣

YouTube was different all those years ago, when Fleur and the Gleam Team started their channels. Very few people used their real names, they had online personas. Today people market themselves as a brand.

You know what was nice to see? Her IG stories of previous birthdays. It shows (to me anyway, I don’t know either way lol!) she hasn’t had a ton of filler/Botox and made herself look ridiculous. I also think that’s why I like seeing her stick to what she likes clothing wise. She definitely doesn’t dress herself as well as a stylist could, even buying clothing that I would never fit or afford but it’s nice to see she’s authentically herself and doesn’t feel the need to alter herself to the latest trend. She just wears what she wants and I think in a world where instagram seems to be basically the same person/trends/looks, she isn’t.

I like Fleur but for someone that spends that much money on clothes/shoes/accessories, her taste is bloody awful
I find her sense of style a little off too. But at the same time I like that she’s not styled by a stylist. She’s kind of like a regular person in that way. I also follow some bloggers with a far better idea of fashion, they look great, but they sometimes look a little too curated.

It’s also a comforting idea that money doesn’t buy you style.

It's kind of frustrating because I can imagine how good she could look with shorter hair and some really good outfits. She's very dowdy looking.

When Mike cooked, yes it was more hearty meals with meat and potatoes. But 85% of the time when Fleur was left to her own devices, she ate relatively healthy. I'm interested to know if/how she's coping with giving up prawns and aged cheese. Those are the two things I remember her being really addicted to. She has always seemed to prefer seafood to things like beef, pork, or poultry. He is really addicted to chocolate, which is easier to find suitable vegan substitute.

If this entire thing is genuine then good for her and the environment. But being environmentally conscious is a trend right now amongst the YouTube masses. It's what viewers want to see. She may not need YouTube to survive, but it does seem to give her a sense of purpose. I guess I should give her credit for aspiring to be something other then a bored, rich, stay-at-home mom.

What I cannot wrap my head around is if all these lifestyle and beauty YouTubers are looking for a way to be environmentally friendly, then an easy place to start would be to stop receiving PR. Samantha Ravndahl did a video at the end of 2018, discussing her decision to stop PR. For Godsakes, just go watch one of Fleur's good friend Tati's unboxing videos. The amount of waste is horrific. This is part of why it's so hard for me to take Fleur and a lot of other YouTubers seriously on certain topics. I agree that gradual change is better than none at all. But there are certain situations that are just flat out ridiculous. The woman is a millionaire. I am pretty sure she'd manage just fine without the free handouts.
I am so sorry it has taken me forever to reply.
but yes I absolutely agree the you tubers with all their wasteful packagingis disgusting. Especially when most of them post sam’s video said that they were asking brands to stop that etc, and then as soon as they come out with their own line collab or brand is stupid abundance of useless packaging for their PR. That part is sickening and just shows how much they say one thing and do the other.

And in regards to the trend to be eco conscience and all that on youtube, all of them with their perfect glass jars to hold their food etc is the exact opposite, because you know they just buy the food(or are gifted) in normal packaging which they basically just repot into Aesthetically pleasing jars. I very very very much Doubt that they are going to actual bulk food stores with their jars to fill up and save on packaging which is the entire point of having reuseable glass jars. So I definitely 100% agree with you on those points. That part is all for show.

I agree!! I think it was kind of smart that she originally had a persona name and then stuck by it even trying to keep mikes last name hidden to an extent by giving him the deForce handle too
I also over the many years Have never heard her promote either hers or mikes families business on her platform which I kinda respect not trying to use her platform to boost other profit businesses and rather just stayed in her lane so to speak.
