I can't wait to see the kitchen when it's finished. It's nice to see someone who doesn't actually have a #spon kitchen and because they've got the means, it'll be properly designed with everything they want, rather than trying to fit the Reno into a sponsored budget.

She seems to be embracing motherhood a bit more, compared to a year ago. Or at least that's the impression I got from the newest vlog.

Can someone clue me in on the Jo Malone thing? My understanding was that in an ad for the Chinese market, they used a popular Chinese actor instead. Isn't it fairly normal for brands to use different celebs/influencers for different markets? I get that John felt that they used some of the ideas from his ad and that upset him, but I'm guessing Jo Malone paid him handsomely for those ideas so they are no longer his intellectual property. Just because they paid him for the work, doesn’t absolve them from ripping apart the personal work of their ambassador.

Maybe I'm being naive but I honestly don't think it comes from a racist or bad place. Jo Malone should've had a discussion with John about using some of his ideas out of courtesy but at the end of the day, brands hires different ambassadors for different markets for marketing purposes. Of course people in China will prefer a domestic celeb, just like U.S. audiences will prefer an American celeb and the Nigerian market will prefer a Nigerian celeb. It's marketing 101.

To add to everything everyone else has said, the amazing advert that John made was not just a piece that he acted in. He created it, wrote it and directed it. That ad was truly John’s intellectual property and a personal film that not only tastefully reflected the brand but also John himself as a global ambassador for Jo Malone, reflecting his experience as a black British man and even showing his family and friends in the film.

Jo Malone didn’t just whitewash the advert but they essentially stole his creative work, even down to the clothes the new actor/model was wearing. They didn’t credit John for anything.

It reeks of racism and has put me off the brand. I’ve only ever bought one scent from them (which was a bit weak to be honest) but I won’t buy from them again.

Definitely! She’s the one I actually believe when they say that they’re not in youtube for the money. Her and Mike obviously have a fuck ton of money and could easily live the same lifestyle without her YouTube income, so I trust her recommendations more than others who I feel just take brand deals for the dollar.

See, this is where I have to disagree (respectfully). Rich people don't stop wanting to become more rich or think they have enough money. Fleur had TONS of ad deals in her earlier days, she was working with so many brands and companies, just like the Gleam group, just for different products. She used to sell stuff that clearly was not in her make up or skincare routine. I do think she loves YouTube and is clearly not depending on it for financial reasons. But that doesnt make all her opinions immediately trustworthy. These days, she's changed because she stopped pretending being a girl next door kind of YTer who goes to Boots or Superdrug. We know now how they live (she used to hide that when they moved into their first "forever house") and what she spends on stuff so there is no reason for her to accept every cheap brand deal.

It seems you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. If she plastered her all over vlogs/social media then she’d be accused of exploiting her child but because she doesn’t do that she’s accused of never spending time with her

I’m not fussed on Fleur for the most part, I do follow her and we were due babies at the same time so I was interested in her pregnancy and baby content but her beauty and fashion isn’t relatable to me as I have approx 57p disposable income

I‘m curious as to why you find it demeaning? Lots of parents have nicknames for their children and I don’t personally think ‘Bugsy’ is offensive or mean? Pretty sure they’ve called her Bugsy since Fleur was pregnant with her.

He just looks rich to me I could bump into him in the street and recognise immediately that we’re from different worlds, but like everyone else I like them, I like their maturity, they’re not sheep, doing every current insta trend for interiors, fashion, bloody tiktok dancing I.e. it’s lovely to see Fleur not walking round head to foot in bloody beige I’m so sick of that trend!! So many of us Brits are pale skinned that palette just makes us look like we’ve died, but does it stop then hell no they just slap a load of unrealistic self tanner on, then their gifted Arket(if I see that sleeveless cream jumper one more time grr) & other stories etc beigeness yawn

On the morning of Fleur's wedding she kept tweeting stuff like "Oh I'm so glad I have NOTHING to do today and can spend it with my family" and it seemed very...weird, because she knew it was Fleur's wedding day and she knew people had been wondering what had happened between the two of them. Not to mention the fact that there were Youtubers at the wedding she knew quite well at the time too. I don't follow Louise at all these days but back then this was how she dealt with stuff online.

I hate Gleam. I've been watching YT for about 12 years and I blame them for ruining it all. The same 6 or 7 promoting each other's makeup lines, books, clothing lines - and they expected people not to notice!
