But to be fair, I think people who have public instagrams should expect lurker or strangers to watch their stories. If it bothered them, they could make their instagram private.

I find her new ig post quite funny. Eve had never shared much about being a lawyer and what that actually means in her day to day life. Why does she consider herself doing so? She also looks rather different in it too

Haven’t read the article but referring to “lawfluencers” in the caption doesn’t exactly spring her picture to mind. I’m thinking more of The Secret Barrister and actual academics who provide valuable insights and opinions than Eve who’s basically just an everyday influencer at worst, studytuber who can help law students at best

Well then, looks like Eve went for a 5 day trip to Oia, Santorini in late September. Not like people are dying or anything. But sure I will just take a luxurious trip when the COVID-19 situation is bad, because i’m rich and I will not be affected by this.

I mean to be fair to her- pretty sure Aug and Sept were the months our idiotic government was stupidly forcing everyone back out; get back into office ads, eat out to help out, travel minister telling us to save economy and fly.

I mean yeah she's part of LGBT but she's never really spoken about it and rather kept it private (which is absolutely okay). It's just annoying people are getting awards for just being. I'd say there are people who were deserving a nomination much more cause they did much more (or anything) for the community.

I imagine plenty of people she works with have also broken the rules, the difference is that the majority of them won’t be running public social media accounts with sizeable followings. I imagine the majority of their social media is private in general tbh

hi! long time lurker here! I don't know about you but there's something about Eve (especially her instagram stories) that has been sooooo annoying to me since around the pandemic started. I don't know, I feel almost bad about it, because her exam vlogs from when she was doing her LPC are amazing and I rewatch them all the time for study motivation. I don't know what exactly it is that's bugging me?? maybe it's her being pretentious but honestly idk maybe I'm just jealous bc she's only slightly older than me and has already achieved so much haha. I wish I didn't find her as annoying as I do but her whole 'online persona' is so infuriating now and her videos (especially the latest one) have been boring as hell

I feel she's changed a lot since she's started with Linklaters and moved to London. Around that time she's uploaded a London vlog with her in the tube and stuff and she was so full of herself there, "deep" and extremely annoying that it made me stop watching her altogether. Her other videos that followed were mostly super obvious ads or talking videos which were too long for the lack of merit and simply annoying. Her personality also became that super try hard quirky person but it looks super fake and off putting. Then she basically stopped uploading anything other than on ig - with an awful hair dye job - so I stopped following her there too lol.

I like Eve a lot, I get she can be a little cringy but I think she's more natural on camera than a lot of other YouTubers which is really refreshing. The only thing that does confuse me is that she is clearly so interested in crime, and seems like she'd be much better suited to criminal law. In the UK criminal lawyers earn considerably less than corporate lawyers, and the money is definitely attractive, but I don't understand why she didn't pursue a more criminal/crime based career.

What is she doing that’s queer baiting?

It’s the blatant and obvious hinting at being queer such as;
•wearing a T-shirt in a video that said “maybe it’s a girl crush maybe your queer”
•tweeting about “listening to girl in red” which has became a meme which is hinting you are gay
•putting sexuality in her assumptions but didn’t mention anything about her sexuality

Which I personally as a queer person would say it’s queerbating. I agree with other posters that no one should be forced to come out or pressured to do so but I think with the amount of hinting she does about her sexuality she should either be very clear about it and come out and say or Just stop with the constant hints.

I’m not asking eve to sit and film a full on coming out video and put the waterworks on, even just simply saying “yes I am (whatever), but I like to be private about it” would put the questioning to rest. I think she’d be a great role model for younger LGBT people, she’s successful and hardworking!

cant help but wonder if she enjoys the constant questioning, she’s basically using it as a personality trait at this point. Might have to let her off seeing as the only things that are remotely intriguing or interesting about her is that she’s potentially queer and a lawyer, but she’s played the lawyer card too much now it’s lost is appeal

(Sorry for rant!! But the media uses queerbating too much now a days! The queer community are starved or representation and the media know the queer following the can lure will be beneficial for their ratings!!)

The 'stay local' advice ended for England a few days ago with the first stage of unlocking, but the advice remains about mixing with people outside your household.

Emphasis on should, considering eve has moved back in with her family over the last year (first lockdown) and then done whatever she likes aka get a girlfriend, stay in hotels, live with her friends, she really won’t give a fuck because I’ve found the people who haven’t lost much or sacrificed any thing have been most likely to break the rules, where as people who have lost loved ones from cancer and covid and who aren’t earning £££ have sacrificed a lot over the last year

That's fine, but I hardly then see being a solicitor a 'dream career'. Honestly, I think she was possibly pressured into taking that path by the general environment at uni. Unis don't seem to discuss the alternative paths one can take too much with law, and there's obviously a huge focus on being a solicitor/barrister

Honestly, whatever you think of Eve's YT/Influencer content, she is clearly a hard working and motivated person.

I think she's the tip of the iceberg really and it'll come back to bite some of these companies if they don't adapt to the expectations of the upcoming Gen-Z who are not afraid to stand up for themselves and advocate for a work-life balance. No one should be working 80 hours a week and honestly, she's probably far better off in tech earning ~£50k (half of her previous) and being able to have a LIFE. Past a certain point, money doesn't do that much to make you happy. You can't buy more hours in the day or years of your life back.

Absolutely. Things will have to change.

Thought the pandemic would be the start of it but I don't know honestly. Hopefully, she'll explain her choices more online in the future and begin to enjoy life (kind of still inside, it seems) but outside Big Law.
