I was a bit weirded out at that comment, not gonna lie. Not everybody can be the best at their job anyway??? As long as you do what you're supposed to do, there's no need to be the absolute best at what you do. It's a very toxic mindset to have, in any aspect of your life, and one that's quite immature imo.

For someone who made law their entire schtick it's ironic she was "okay" at it.

It's an interesting point you make she could have been 'managed' out of the team and placed in this new area. It happens all the time when companies can't just sack somebody they manage them out instead by doing things like this.

I wonder if this could also explain the sort of baiting I think she's been doing over the past year or so where she would be dressing inappropriately etc. Maybe things were going south at that point and Eve was intentionally being awkward as some sort of passive aggressive resistance.

We'll see how long she lasts in her new role. If she's gone from there in a short period then I think we can start to add more weight to this.

And posting her undies on a public platform for all her colleagues and employers to see.

I can't understand Eve's obsession with wanting to look "gay" (per her latest story). I'm a really big believer in people feeling free and able to express themselves (having even said it on this thread) but it's like every fashion choice is "because I'm gay". Shag haircuts are very much in fashion right now, as is a lot of her style. It's not revolutionary and it's certainly not "gay style" so I don't get the obsession

You didn't miss a lot though, as beyond confirming she's left law it was mainly a 'teaser' for whatever future content she is planning to put out this year. No dirt, sadly. Maybe it's the type of law? I worked in Legal Aid and we always had to dress pretty formally.

Yeah, I think it definitely depends on the area of law/the firm. Certainly going into a court room or meeting a very traditional client when dressed casually would be a no-no. But in the City, on a day to day basis, it's got way more casual over the years. You'll struggle to find a younger guy wearing a tie for example. Apart from the midriff exposure (lol) what Eve wears wouldn't look out of place in my office. I think people have an image of law firms - especially City ones - which is a bit outdated. As I said, I think Links will be proud of Eve - she is a great ambassador for them. The job market at the top end of law is insane, mainly thanks to US firms coming to London and paying eye- watering amounts. Firms are cranking up their salaries constantly and the competition to retain talent is fierce. Having someone who promotes the firm as a cool place to work will be super useful for their recruitment efforts.

Honestly the video title doesn't really fit what the video is actually about imo, but I'm glad to see that she didn't make it a typical 'coming out' video to get some views - this may seem really rude, sorry.

I watched most of it. She should just retire from YouTube already. It's much less tasteless than the other one purely because it's such a stupid case surrounding the petty fight between two famous-for-no-reason "celebrities" and nobody died this time. But it's just more of Eve's tired, talentless, cash-grab bullshit.

Almost the entire video has on-screen ads for Fiver, along with a tonne of intrusive, incredibly cheap and amateurish animations. If this is the best Eve could find on Fiver, it doesn't exactly sell the platform well.

Eve spends the whole video obnoxiously flapping her hands around a lot while not saying anything new, anything of merit and just recycles content from other sources. All for a video about a fluff story that's old news.

She's somehow left it too late to talk about the case when it was trending and relevant, but didn't wait a few weeks until the verdict was announced to discuss the complete story. It's so sloppily constructed.

I don't really know what the point in any of what she's doing now is. She's paying other people to do all her work for her, so you would expect some new measure of quality or substance, but the end result is still so wafer-thin, lazy and half-assed. She also doesn't bring anything to the table at all. She offers no legal perspective beyond that which anyone who'd looked up the Wikipedia entry for 'defamation' could also provide. In fact, she seems to be Googling this shit in real time while filming and reading scripted information put together by her paid researcher for the most basic shit. Her input is basically: "Here's a recap of the case as found via Google. Who knows what will happen with the verdict, but it'll be interesting to see. Follow me on social media."

It's kind of easy to see why she pivoted away from wanting to practice law so quickly - she's trying real hard to be cool, charming and charismatic and coming across as pretentious, smarmy and condescending, but also can't seem to retain even basic legal information even though her entire studytube career was build around pushing toxic productivity and rote memorisation. If these videos are indicative of her courtroom prowess, research skills and on-the-spot thinking, then she must've been one shitty lawyer.

She also spends a substantial chunk of the video talking to the camera in this pose for some reason. It looks so fucking awkward.

And about that pose - looks likes she's been ever so slightly constipated for the last 3-5 days and is trying to help induce a bowel movement by doing that.

and she has posted with her mask on in videos and pictures, and posted when she got her vaccine (telling people to get theirs). i wouldn’t say she completely disregards the rule from a maskless picture when we don’t know if there’s strangers around her (i sure as hell take mine off to catch my breath if there’s no one near me).

The problem is that it's not just one maskless picture, it's several - including one from recently when masks were required to be worn. Really, if you're taking pictures where you're posing, chances are you're not just catching a quick breath during your commute so the argument there doesn't work

Personally, I didn't have that big of an issue with her being maskless on the tube before the recent restrictions because it wasn't a strict requirement (and really I don't know how busy the tube is in general, that may massively change my opinion) but that + the other stuff from when restrictions were very strict has given a fairly clear pattern on her disregard for those rules

Also, me or you being maskless or taking time to catch a breath is hardly comparable to a public figure like Eve imo

To be honest I don't blame her for leaving. I'm just finishing my law degree and I can't imagine doing that, the LPC, a masters and being expected to work the hours they work in big firms. It would kill most people's enthusiasm for the job

People who work in big law are typically quite conservative. Most of the Partners are males who tend to have an outdated image of women. Eve is quirky and loud, and therefore I believe her colleagues and seniors cringe at her videos. I seriously don't understand why she would want to work with such people. At this point, I think she's only in it for the money and prestige.

I hope that didn't majorly factor into her choice to walk away from law i.e. if she couldn't be the best lawyer ever then she wanted to walk away. Totally relate to leaving if you aren't passionate anymore though.

Just my impression, but she never seemed to be driven by the pure need to be the best (unlike other studytubers like Ruby or Holly, who are clearly obsessed with it) and seemed to be very pragmatic about it during her studies (talking about her grades and achievements mostly in the context of employability etc.) and also in her recent video. So I - personally - wouldn't think it was a big factor in the decision beyond the general association between "being good at something" and "being passionate".

Law school humbles you a bit as well when it comes to wanting to be the 'best'. Obviously, it's not the only hard degree out there, but it's tough and you find yourself surrounded by students who were also the top of their class so you're not stand-out anymore. Then on top of that, you're told that good grades don't matter if you have no employability.

If she made her decision because she's passionate about something else, good for her. I'm just worried that, because she made such a public proclamation about her decision, she'll find it very hard to go back to law if she ever changes her mind

Eve doesn’t live alone and I doubt the girlfriend does either. Very few people do at that age in London especially as she’s on a low wage art job.

I thought the same thing when she said that. She had a 'profile' though, coming in with her Youtube stuff so that probably worked against her in a sense that I bet she was scrutinised by her colleagues a lot more than a normal trainee.
