One of my friends is living and working in Spain rn as a teacher, came back to the UK for the holidays, and she's only allowed back in the country because she already has a visa and a job..pretty sure they're not accepting anyone new rn, and especially not from Britain

She went to Tesco at the crack of dawn because "people in wEsT bRoMwIcH don't know how to socially distance". Pretty sure ignorant people are a worldwide problem eve, not just in your hometown. Seriously what makes her think she's so above the area where she grew up and has lived all her life?
I used to work in West Brom and get unreasonably angry that she seems to think everyone there is thick af. It's not the most cultured, affluent place you'll ever go but seriously duck OFF.

Honestly, she can go to Oxford and travel the world all she likes, she's still from West Brom. She's not edgy, she's not better than everyone in her town and she needs to get a grip. I'm nearly finished my degree at Oxford and I'm from a small town in Ireland. I went to Oxford because I loved the course there, I was willing to work hard and I wanted to be amongst the really cool research constantly going on there. I did not apply to Oxford so I could prove I'm better than everyone who made my childhood and upbringing so interesting and different, nor that I could look down on the place I was brought up. She's honestly something else.

For one there's the whole Brexit / Virus Mutation thing but from what I've gathered the economy / job market there is really struggling so it's almost impossible for her to get a job? l I'm pretty sure Spanish bars won't care that she goes to Oxford? How can she be so delusional

It's hard enough getting a job in a bar without previous experience as it stands right now, never mind going in with a) not a full grasp of the language and b) never having had any 'normal' customer service job.
It’s such a disgusting attitude from eve. She thinks she’s so bleeping high and mighty getting into Oxford, but I’m sure where she lives isn’t that rough. She should try living where I live (proper up north in a rough area) and then going to a top uni. The culture shock is unreal but I don’t start acting all superior when I come home, actually I prefer coming back to a more working class area after spending a full term with annoying middle class tories
I mean I agree about her not having any experience in customer facing jobs but I think she should have a very good grasp of the language. I admit I don’t know anything about the modern languages course at Oxford but I know that I didn’t have any problem working in Spain for the summer in a customer facing job after A-levels and first year of Spanish at university. And my course wasn’t even modern languages it just had a foreign language at a higher level as a requirement to graduate. So the language shouldn’t be a problem IMO. I don’t know why she is so set on working at a bar there maybe she should look for journalisms internships or just internships in general and maybe if the cases improve after couple of months with lockdowns and vaccinations maybe she can go there for a month if it is a requirement for her degree to stay in that country.
She better not be travelling across the country in a national lockdown. She's bleeping disgusting.

Is she even going to be allowed to Spain? I thought because of the new variant they weren’t allowing people from Britain in?
I'd assume not? I know someone who got turned away at Heathrow last weekend trying to board to Madrid, and that was just to transit through Spain.
