Oxford has one of the shortest requirements for number of days, she’ll have hit it for German, they’re actually not very helpful, they don’t help you organise anything at all

Pretty sure Oxford told students that they should cancel plans to go abroad in the new year and most countries in Europe have stopped flights from the UK. She’s had more than most year abroad students and she did have the choice of doing her year abroad next year instead

Yes, I know, but I have the biggest problem with her whole attitude and behavior during and after her stay. She went out and about a lot, and even though she was lucky enough to not have her entire study abroad experience cancelled - she still managed to complain because not everything went EXACTLY to her plan and a lot of her complaining is so tone deaf, especially when she's posting about telling people that this period of time is only temporary and will end eventually (because she sure doesn't act like it)
It's a requirement, yes. But a pandemic is an extenuating circumstance and won't invalidate her degree

Lol stop lying. Many of my friends have done their year abroad this year from the UK (remote learning at Spanish and French unis) because of the pandemic. Oxford have literally told them to delay going abroad. She'll still graduate fine and in time. She's just moaning because she's sad she doesn't get a nice Spanish holiday.
I've actually unsubscribed. She bores my pants off ever since her year abroad started and her constant whining is annoying me when I have family and friends working for the NHS right now (like I'm sure a lot of her subs do) and I'm getting to see maybe one family member over Christmas (like a lot of you guys I'm sure). I'm not interested anymore, sorry Eve
Big difference between being able to pass exams and actually having some common sense. Eve is the former.

It's not. I did a languages degree and loads of people came home after 2 or 3 months because they didn't like it. All they had to do was take some classes at the uni instead so they didn't go a whole year without learning anything. It's not a big deal. It sucks for all the people in her position as the YA is brilliant BUT as everyone is saying it's really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. I'd have chosen to not do one if it meant I'd saved people from dying...
ugh I made an account just to post this because this girl drives me up a wall. I 100% agree with her that she's allowed to be upset that her year abroad wasn't what she thought it was going to be be but the issue is that she's acting like returning and staying in the UK is the worst thing that could have ever happened to her. no you have a house and a family to stay with and a home/job that you can do from home. if her message was something more along the lines of "sad my year abroad was cancelled but i'm happy to have a home to return to" she would be a lot less grating
I do a languages degree. This year was a required year abroad for me too. My university insisted I had to go or I'd have to take a year off or go into final year and they were gerenally no help and very unsympathetic but it seemed irresponsible to go. I stood my ground and after months of arguing at the end of September they finally caved and had to sort out alternative assessments for me so I could continue my third year, without travelling. I do believe the students who went abroad, including Eve, went simply because they wanted to and not because they were helpless and had no other choice because their university was forcing them. I fought so hard to stay in the UK and when I saw Eve in Berlin being so irresponsible it made me feel like I had been unnecessarily paranoid but I think I made the right call.
of course I'm upset about my original plans abroad but I hardly think it's worth broadcasting the way Eve does, considering she's been abroad once and on a holiday to Poland. Also as far as I am aware Spain have not yet introduced a travel ban as she's said. I study Spanish as well so have been keeping up with this.
I don’t really know anything about studying abroad but on Oxford unis website it says this about the year abroad. It says that the main experience should be an internship or studying at a foreign uni. So how can eve justify moving to Spain to just work in a bar or shop?
I find this really weird too. I guess she thinks her future employers will give two people about her hot takes on this pandemic. All she's done is whine about her circumstances while blatantly ignoring the precautions and rules, just like other youtubers. As if rules have held them back from anything in the past year.
The issue I have with her moaning is that I agree with her that she can be upset but huge parts of the UK are either in full lockdown now or go into it on Boxing Day. Its the most insensitive time to be constantly moaning about her next trip abroad maybe not happening. Just read the room!
Watching Eve’s latest vlog. She is acting if she has been to the moon!! Saying her family haven’t done anything these last few months whereas OMG she lived in a different city and OMG had TWO different jobs. Like first of all, don’t look down on your family for having ‘simple’ lives. Secondly, you literally went to Berlin. Extremely similar culture, lots of people can speak English, and you are barely in a different time zone to the UK. Yes you had two jobs; I know a huge amount of people who had two jobs to support themselves whilst at university. Yes you caught Covid, so have millions of others.
She needs to get over herself. She is really radiating the gap year vibes. Despite not even making it to a year, nor any true solo travelling. Hardly life changing events Eve
