My friend actually IS a political correspondent for a major television network based in Washington DC and she worked her a off from the minute she started doing her A Levels in terms of work experience both in journalism and TV, she did a BA degree and then a PG Dip in Radio & Television Journalism and it took her nine years post graduation to get to where she is now, with all that work experience and networking behind her. Something tells me Eve is rather behind the curve on this one!
Seeing as Eve only has an AS in politics, is doing languages at uni, and hasn’t been doing work experience in journalism for that long - it seems very unlikely she will be able to be a journalist as soon as she thinks. She said a while ago that she wanted to be reporting on the 2024 elections in the UK and US, I think that’s very unrealistic
People can test positive after having covid for up to 90 days so that could actually screw her over.Is it mean to hope that her Covid test comes back Positive so she has to self isolate over Xmas?I know it's unlikely but it would serve her right for acting like shes now invincible

If she was at Oxford she would have to get 2 negative tests in a row (most of them have to sign up to it) so she needs to be very careful
I can’t with this chick. She doesn’t need a job, couple ads will easily pay and she’s got enough money to be comfortable without a job like that. Also kind of arrogant that A) she’d get a job before the locals but also B) she can waltz into a bar with no experience. I’ve worked in hospitality on and off for about 3 years, there’s a lot more to it than what she probably thinks it is

your native language as much as possible?
Ever since I’ve started learning English I read and watch (mostly) in English because it’s so easy to familiarize yourself with the language and learn new vocabulary. It’s literally as easy as putting a sitcom on in the back or re-reading your favorite book

And she wants to go next year which is when all the Brexit rules will apply so she won't even be able to get working papers for such a short stint, surely?

Don’t know the details of this but tbf it’s quite common to teach English for the British Council (I think that’s the name?) on your year abroad. I didn’t choose that option so I’m not sure if English speaking schools are the norm for the scheme but I imagine not
Yeah I don't doubt that! But her reason for being so upset that she couldn't stay in Berlin was because she hadn't improved her German enough.. So to improve her Spanish she's going to all the way to Spain to teach in English? She could just stay at home and do a language course given the circumstances, but she's so set on having the perfect ~year abroad~ experience that she's not taking into account the global pandemic that is gonna make things hard for her
A lot of state schools in Spain have a “bilingual” system where about a third of their classes are taught in English so they hire native speaking English language assistants to help out in those classes, it’s a government program and really easy to be accepted on but Eve won’t do that because it’s not very glamorous or year abroad goals singing Baby Shark twenty times a day with a load of five year olds
At this point, I would probably just accept that my year abroad isn't what I had planned it to be (because nothing this year has really gone to plan for anyone) and make other plans to travel in the future. For example, opting to study a masters in Germany or South America, or applying for the British council scheme for a year. A year abroad isn't the only opportunity to travel for an extended period of time, particularly when you are privileged enough like Eve. Focussing her energies on improving her language without having to necessarily travel would also enable her to get even better opportunities afterwards. It's likely that by 2022/23 international travel will be safer and more rewarding. If she considers this perspective, it will probably alleviate her a lot more of her stress and disappointment with this year. She seems like someone who is very much a planner - very 'go-go-go' and ambitious. Slow down and don't worry Eve, travelling will always be there for you when this is all over!
It's really not making her university look good if she's clearly breaking lockdown and going out with symptoms. I'm honestly surprised no one's reported her to her college even though she is in Germany.
In one of her recent videos, it was sponsored by a online language school and she said that when she was back in England she was going to do some of the courses.
She’s probably also concerned about content. If she isn’t doing anything different to what the majority are (wfh/daily walks etc) then she’s going to get truly boring to watch.
She just has no perspective. Graduates/ people with five, ten years experience in industry aren’t able to secure jobs so why does she, a uni student with I’m guessing no experience other than her Germany internship, get to find a job for three months or whatever? Especially as a BRIT in the EU? And over natives in Spain?
Has she had any other jobs before? I actually don’t know
