Unless the dog wasn’t nervous when she got her (wasn’t she just a puppy) and because este isn’t emotionally stable/a good pack leader the dog has to take the responsibility of being the leader itself which of course results in a very tense/anxious dog
But Effie was nervous when Estée got her. Effie is a dog that was rescued from the streets. I don’t think you can underestimate the impact of that.

I do wonder if the charity she got Effie from should have been a bit more thorough in their placement assessment. Whether London was what as best for a dog like Effie. But then she has been well provided for and Estée has a lot of free time so they probably thought she’d have the time and resources to look after the dog.

I genuinely do feel however that Estée has done well with Effie so far. She is clearly a lot better than when Estée got her. But a nervous dog is a lot of work and the work never stops. You always have to be working with the dog as any slip up or single incident can really set a nervous dog back. It’s a real commitment and takes up time.

At least from what Estée says she does not appear to have fear aggression, which is just another level of difficulty to handle.

I think Estée needs to be a bit more regimented with Effie. She needs to let Effie know that she is in charge but also there for the dog. She needs to be able to command the dogs’ attention to her. She needs to be the boss.

(Perhaps Estée should consult Cesar the dog whisperer! She has enough money!)

I'm sure Effie has come a long way, but a big part of that is probably because Covid has FORCED Estée to stay home all these months, so she's been able to dedicate a lot of time and energy to the dog. A nervous dog needs a lot of structure and routine, so what's going to happen when things normalize again? Estee was leaving Reggie for up to two weeks at a time on an almost monthly basis at one point, except this time Estee doesn't have a co-owner to share the responsibility with and it sounds like Effie can't be (and shouldn't be) sent from petsitter to petsitter.

Looks like Effie would have benefited more from quiet country living, I blame the stupid organization that just placed her in Estee's hands. The animal should be top priority otherwise your business is a sham.

Whatever happened to the Fiat 500 she used to have? Did Aslan own it and she lost it in the break-up? If you have to buy a car specifically to take your dog to the countryside every weekend, maybe the dog isn't well matched.

I don't know how Estee is going to teach the dog to drive tho

I agree with this, but I don't know what the process is. Would wild at heart necessarily have known that Effie was so nervous? I think they probably all assumed it was the circumstances and she would be fine in a few months. I think if Estee had known this going in she probably wouldn't have picked Effie (but I could be wrong). I have to give her credit that she has stuck with it though, many people would have given her back or tried to adopt her out. I do wonder if Effie is also feeding off of Estee's anxious and nervous behaviour? I can imagine Estee is full of up and downs and no structure whatsoever.
I watched a vlog on Alex Hobern’s channel the other day about dogs coming over from Bulgaria in conjunction with Nikki from Wild at Heart. They bring 20 dogs over once a month and have approx 100 dogs in the shelter out there at any one time so you think they’d have time to get to know the dogs before homing them!

Btw, do people know that the only reason she’s is very suddenly posting again and vlogging is because she has another annual Daisy launch coming up and it’s been obvious for the last few years that vlogtober is part of the deal. It’s the only reason she’s been active these last few years during the fall. She literally couldn’t be bothered the entire spring and entire summer, the biggest thing she did for her channel this year is literally delete most of it... and is now pretending she wants to ~reconnect~.

Exactly. She always throws a crying vlog in there too.

ah sorry wasn’t sure about the dogs past tbh I haven’t watched her videos in years and don’t keep up with this thread saw her crying in a thumbnail yesterday so thought I’d have a wee nosey haha

I felt she chose Effie because she wanted an Instagram dog ( she called Effie 'blonde like her"). It has not gone to plan due to the issues already outlined.

There is a reason there’s a trope that some people look like their dogs / vice versa.

People buy pets because they like the look of them.

just checked back in after a few years, why has she gained weight? the break-up or..? As long as she's healthy whatever, but still she looks more plump for sure.
Depends on when you used to watch her. I think she’s now at her natural weight. She used to be much fuller. I think the time she was thinner was much more work for her to maintain.

Seeing her IG stories of Effie running in the woods seemingly so carefree made me so sad. Maybe I'm naïve but I like to think that Estee is being genuine when she talks about Effie, but clearly the shelter should never have paired such a nervous and stressed out puppy with someone who lives in a high-rise in a super busy loud and crowded city. I can see Estee rehoming her and that's just heartbreaking for everyone involved.

I can see that too, and she's already preparing her audience for that step, with those tearful monologues about how Effie's the most nervous dog ever, how she's all alone looking after her and that she might buy a car just to drive Effie to the countryside. I'm not saying she doesnt care for that dog, she clearly does. But I also think she's not too far from rehoming her (which of course would indeed be better).

That’s what I thought as well, she’s going towards looking for a new home “for Effie, who enjoys the countryside so much, and it’s just not fair to keep her in the city”. She will post more about this along the way, and then finally she will inform the viewers she’s found a perfect home.

I think there are steps before that which SHOULD be taken, like for example consistent and prolonged training sessions— Estée admits she hasn’t done this.

Also, there are places to live in London that aren’t a high rise building in a high traffic area. With her money, she could get a really nice walk up flat in a somewhat quieter neighborhood with a small private garden and some residential streets to walk around. Effie might even be less nervous looking out a normal street level window, watching the world go by and seeing people from a distance behind her window, than she would looking down like 20 floors below lol..... and then after being put in an elevator, being surrounded by them. Kind of overwhelming.

Effie seems willing to socialize (on certain terms of course), with dogs AND people which is a great sign. She could end up improving to the point where she can walk almost anywhere with ease, or she could be nervous to the point where she just stays out of the very busy downtown areas. These are things we do for those to whom we’ve assigned ourselves caretaker. If I were Estée I’d just start looking at flats that are more dog friendly.

How much was her flat? Over a million? She could get a nice 3 bed house with a garden in East Dulwich for about £1k. Dulwich Park and Peckham Rye nearby plus Sydenham Woods.
