Very new to this thread and a lot of the accounts on it but came on this thread to find more decent equestrian accounts to follow and my god. At least I know who to avoid

I don’t want to be cruel but Ray the goth needs a better instructor. I’ve watched a handful of her videos and I like that she’s brave enough to put them out there and give things a go but her horse needs better education. One of the first things I learned in ponies was not to combine an inexperienced horse with an incompetent or inexperienced rider. After a bad accident I lost a lot of my nerve but have had to be so conscious not to pass that on to my horses, especially any of the more sensitive nervous nellies as then we’d both inevitably make each other more anxious - a recipe for disaster!
I watched the video where she’s doing a small grid and she’s definitely deleted the negative comments as I could only see hugely positive ones but anyone with eyes can see she’s relying on her whip far too much and if her horse isn’t comfortable or confident jumping a grid without being slapped several times to get over it then she shouldn’t be doing it. Bring it back to basics and get those right before you rush into things and have to resort to heavy handed riding on a horse who does not need it. Her horse seems so sweet but genuinely doesn’t have the confidence to do what she’s being asked. Whenever my horses have ever started refusing several jumps or not being confident enough to be forward going I always look at my riding, not at what my horse could be doing wrong and that’s how bad habits are nipped in the bud quickly. When you’re riding with confidence they trust that you know the score and can help them figure things out. Again I don’t want to be mean or cruel but how old is pepper? She does seem to be carrying a lot of weight that you can see on her crest etc and for what I presume is a young (or just inexperienced) horse she’s not getting the best chance. She seems like such a sweet horse but she’ll be ruined if they’re not careful with her.
Edited to add; just looked at her highlights and pepper is 12?! Has she been riding long or what is the story there because (this isn’t a humble brag, maybe 1% of credit goes to me if even that

) there’s 4yo’s (almost 5 now) broken this time last year on our yard that are jumping and riding much much better and haven’t been asked to do much but any day off the yard they’ve handled much better because of the amount of groundwork we put into our babies??? When you put the groundwork and basics in they gain confidence in their abilities and they aren’t asked any big tests for a long time but anything they’re asked of they’re more than capable of and their confidence grows and then they do even better the next day. Some of our babies at home would fly those grids and courses in their sleep and they wouldn’t even be the most talented jumpers they’re just well educated and schooled and enjoy it!
