I’ve put weight since covid started. If I put any more on I will have to consider not riding my horse as I will be to heavy for her if I get to much heavier. I also think the less balanced you are the further away from the maximum weight you should be as a lighter rider flopping about will be worse than someone who is a bit heavier but sits in a good balance and doesn't constantly jab with spurs or yank the horses mouth every stride.I cant agree any more with this!
I have two ex racers out of work currently because I feel too heavy!
My weight piled on due to medication in the summer so I stopped riding (they are capable of carrying me but just because they can doesnt mean they should!).
I would class myself as a well balanced kind rider too, definitely not a jabber!
The equestrian world is far to sensitive and ignorant to rider weight issues imo.
If you are over a certain weight then you need to very carefully consider the horse that has to carry you or, if indeed any should at all!
