Women often use social media to out people because our society or law enforcement or legal system fails them. So honestly that long post annoys me so much. It's ignoring the systemic issue. And saying his Dad is lovely? Uhm OK I'm sure he is but that's irrelevant. Also I'm sure if I was raped I wouldn't be interested in sitting down to do mediation with my rapist either...

Are there any legal minds on here? Regardless of who wrote it, the part about the troll account looks legitimate. It has tweeted loads of similar accusations about other Irish "celebs". But at the same time... if such an accusation was passed around in 2017 and publicly disclosed in 2021, do you really believe a person or people hate Eoghan to such a degree to falsify it for 4 years?

My guess is there has to be at least some truth to it, and that poster above (who sounds like an insider or a family member tbh) just disclosed that sex did occur, but both parties differ on whether it was consensual or not

Sorry I don't understand what you mean by the first paragraph about falsifying it for 4 years? It was a 2017 tweet that was obviously sent to her by someone, she screenshotted it and posted it. So if it's fake and she took it as true and others shared it that's grounds for him to sue successfully no? Like is that why the account is gone? And even if she does have a case on her own merit this obviously doesn't help that, if she's admitted to lawyers that she posted a separate false allegation like that post says.

Yeah and what I meant was that I just dont think you can hate someone so much in the public eye that you completely murder their name . With rape accusations , its very serious so i dont think there would be someone willing to do it without some truth to it

Im sorry this is too much with this young man killing hoimself last week. And yes i will say I do know eoghans family and the situation or some of the situation anyway and maybe this is not mine to share but the amount of devestation is so much with this news of this man killing himself over an allegation. yes this girl is allowed to make a proper complaint if she wants and let Garda do the work to but this is why social media is dangerous because it is not a court just people saying many things with no favts only what other people say. The account or the tweets anyway were deleted because this girl behind the twitter admitted her lawers and eoghan lawers she lied about her age and was older than she said at this time she talk about. That is to say she said she was underage when she was notand and shared with the whole country a serious crime maybe the most serious crime that is not true. And now anyone who shared her post could now get sued because of that which is hundreds of people from what im told but she will have no responsability for them getting sued if that is what happens because you are supposed to check your own facts on social media. Another mess is she. Maybe that is anothe rlegal problem for her i don;t know. So that is why none of reported in the papers because if they had printed what she wrote they would all be in big legal trouble like many of the people on twitter are and that is why tweets gone. Social media is a disaster. I remember does everyone that Mary harney the minister got nealy half a million euros because a paper or radio said she was an alcoholic. Maybe the lawers will make lots of money but everybody else on both sides will lose. The lawers eoghans side offered mediation to all sit down because eoghan thinks it was consensual and now of courdse she say s she doesn't think it was. So they opfferee and she has said no. As for sucide, I do agree that online posts aren't courts of justice, I amn't a fan of cancel culture myself however it is quite bizarre that you wouldn't at least immediately release a statement refuting the accusations if innocent, especially given how outspoken the man is.

If he released a statement, newspapers could freely write about the allegations as he would have brought them into the public domain. That's what happened Al Porter. Anyone with good advice would do as Eoghan has done and make no public comment.

He is rightfully being investigated given the serious nature of the allegations and hopefully will be sent forward for trial in a court of law.

I know nobody would want to be associated with such crimes, but me personally if I had complete fabricated accusations thrown at me, I would have 0 shame as I would have nothing to hide I only dived into what exactly went down with Al porter and correct me if im wrong but
he wasn't charged or proven guilty in the end, was he? His wiki says the victim withdrew the accussation in 2019... (ofc this doesn't mean the victim was lying)

I do wonder about the situation if that poster, whoever they are (friend, family, neighbour whatever) is accurate in why the tweets have been deleted though. There was some tweet on the account about his Dad being a Garda I vaguely remember. If she said that's the reason she wasn't making a complaint because he'd interfere and he's not a Garda that would be upsetting for him I guess? That's not batting for Eoghan at all btw, just addressing the point re his Dad being upset. The whole thing is so bizarre whatever way you look.

True. I'm itching to know what's true and what's not from that post. The age claim seems like a big one to make if it's not true. If she was above the age of consent but has claimed she wasn't thats probably a huge roadblock to her now making a formal complaint given it was so widely circulated. Would explain the tweets disappearing. Deeper down the rabbit hole....

I highly doubt the victim would lie in the original accusation. Oral r*** is oral rape, it doesn't matter if you are 16 or 60, its still horrible so I don't see why she would go to the trouble to make him look worse, if you get me.
