What made me fall out with Emma is that her content is inconsistent, and she jumps on you whenever you point this out to her. I mostly watched her in her fashion YouTuber era. She belonged to the same genre as Safiya Nygaard, one would say she was a British counterpart of hers even. Hell, I watched her weekly IPOADs, because I really enjoyed seeing her in a more vlog-like content. But then she switched her content dramatically and started pushing out more music related content during the Villains era. I remember she pushed it under the cloak of "my channel was always meant to be about music". Since then, I fell out with her content. I forgot about her for some time, and upon checking up on her, she switched her content to gaming. Now she's back to music, but under the commentary genre. She claims not to care about numbers, but jumps from one genre to another whenever she doesn't get the numbers she hopes for. Within the last 6 months, she jumped from rant videos, to music content, to throwback videos, to vlogs and now to commentary. It's impossible to keep up with. Whenever you tell her she's not as popular because of her content jumping, she argues with you, claiming she doesn't care about numbers, and telling you you're mean to her. It's a shame, because she has the creativity to stay relevant in this new era of YouTube.

What I don't appreciate about this thread, however, is the fixation on her boyfriend. Their relationship is problematic, but don't go to the extent to belittle his looks, it's way too low. Be constructive in your criticism.

I think the focus on his looks is mainly because he's a decade older than her (which for most couples by the time you're thirty shouldn't really matter but here it feels sleazy because Emma comes across as immature) and he's a white guy with really badly maintained dreadlocs. If he was black/mixed race with maintained dreadlocs I doubt people would comment on his appearance in the same way.

Yeah like i don’t have a problem with the age gap. As long as everything is legal and no one is being manipulated i don’t find it weird but from his history… he’s a sleazy guy

Dreads can look great af if they’re maintained. I saw a guy in town the other day with waist length dreads and he looked so cool but Davys are badly maintained or badly done.

This. My cousins partner is a Rastafarian and has had dreads longer than I've known him. They suit him because he maintains them properly. He doesn't look unclean or in need of a wash.

I wouldn't comment on Daveys dreads if he didn't look like he just needed a bath.

I think the criticism of his hair is fair, it’s a walking health and safety hazard and probably has 2 undiscovered Covid strains plus multiple bug colonies.

honestly that picture made me feel ill

Her outfit in her latest instagram…polka dot dress with a necklace with about 20 attachments… why’s she dressed like my mum 🤣

Also imagine her releasing and telling people to stream her song when. Taylor Swift dropped an album. No one cares about your new version of Crying. It was mediocre the first 10482 times

She’s trying to go for this “I’m thirty so I’m a wine mom now” ironic joke but it just falls completely flat. She has no sense of humor when she’s not copying someone else.

Also she is so dumb for releasing something the same day as Red TV. It’s not like she didn’t know, since it was announced over five months ago, and the release date was moved up over a month ago. It’s just another version of a crappy song she already released, she could have easily postponed the release a week or two (I’m pretty sure she’s done that before with one of her singles back in the villains era). Trying to compete with Taylor, let alone the re-release of one of her most beloved albums and with this much hype around it, it’s like she’s asking for her release to be completely drowned out. Either that or she’s even more self-grandiose than we thought if she thought she had a chance against Red TV.

What exactly happened between Emma and Cherry Wallis? I used to watch them both years ago and had no idea they had fallen out

Not sure tbh.. didn’t Emma make some passive aggressive tweets or something about Cherry?
Last I heard (unless I’m mixing up cherry with someone else) Emma blasted Cherry for not immediately making a statement about JK Rowling’s transphobic essay and instead taking a day to gather her thoughts in a comprehensive and non-offending statement, which imo really says a lot about Emma’s personality and mindset ie. going off the seat of her pants and making rash mistakes and only thinking through her delusions in hindsight, rather than taking the time to consider her choices and make a thoughtful decision/statement on something. Cherry’s statement on JK and Harry Potter as a whole ended up being really kind and thoughtful but her replies were all clogged up by Emma’s fans bashing her for “taking too long”. Like, it’s not like she took a week to say anything, she just needed time to gather her thoughts yet here Emma is ready to get on her high horse despite never saying anything about trans issues before this, let alone advocating for trans rights. I hate how the internet has made everything so quick paced and encouraged everyone to need to put out opinions and statements asap rather than taking time to even think through their feelings on a particular topic or subject. And I hate how Emma weaponized such a serious and harmful situation, which is still having negative impacts on the trans community, just so she could have an excuse to call someone out and boost her own ego in the process, as well as further personal drama that didn’t need to be brought to the internet (even Cherry, who ended up making a separate statement just about Emma, from what I remember was really confused why Emma all of a sudden started attacking her and only her about this, especially since they were allegedly on civil terms beforehand). That’s not an ally to me.

This is exactly how I felt but didn't know how to phrase it, couldn't agree more. It always felt distasteful to me that Emma used a serious issue like transphobia as a pawn in her usual petty dramas.

This may not be 100% but it's about as I remember it

A couple of years ago Emma and Cherry were good friends and even had a beauty channel together. They then seemed to fall out and Emma as good as said that Cherry had only been using her to gain following etc. This was when they were both making skit/comedy videos on their own channels so were in the same genre.

Don't really think anything else more was said about either of, although knowing Emma there were probably some clearly aimed tweets and comments.

Then the stuff with JK Rowling's statement happened. Cherry didn't really comment straight away (which is fair, it's an awkward position to be in seeing as she makes her money off of JK Rowling's content) and Emma called her out on it, and then one of them blocked each other and posted about it but I can't remember which way around that was. Probably Cherry blocked Emma who then complained about it.

As far as I'm concerned Cherry is well rid, and although I'm not particularly a fan as such I do watch her content and it's very clear she is far more successful and happy than Emma.

yes, trans lives ARE more important than Harry Potter, but they’re also more important than your petty bull grudges or your ego or even your need to always look superior to others. If you truly care about the cause, actually advocate for trans lives. If this is just another way to get back at your enemies, stfu forever.

also, hi Emma! Sound off wherever you are!

Tragic how great a chokehold JKR has on an entire generation of people who have no independent creativity or alternate cultural references. Just pathetic all round. Maybe Emma could start calling herself non-binary demigirl for a bit of extra attention ❤

Emma only cares about LGBT+ when she’s using it to try promote herself (pretending she’s bi) or pretending to care about trans issues (only cares when she’s using them to drag others down).

she’ll make the odd preformative tweet but coincidentally only when here or somewhere elsebring it up

Honestly? duck Emma Blackery, she really didn't need to make her selective allyship more obvious than that. Dear Emma, stop using other people's struggles to clap back at others. Grow up.

Well this just made me cringe myself a new hole. I vaguely know of Sunmi as a kpop artist and looking at her Twitter she just collaborated with Ed Sheeran...something tells me Crying version 12 (kpop edition) feat. Sunmi isn't on the cards, Emma.
