Most of the time it just honestly feels like she only started pursuing music because she wants to be famous and it was the “easiest” option, not because she has a passion for it. She half-asses most of not all of her songs, she acts like it’s a chore, she has no interest in improving her songwriting or singing or stepping out of her comfort zone in any way (even now when she’s trying to be a “rocker” she’s still pumping out Taylor swift knockoff pop songs), she’s mad and passive aggressive when she doesn’t get the numbers she wants (so, the majority of the time), and she only seems genuinely happy when she reaches a view count/streaming goal or when she charts in any way. All her songs sound like she sees them as low priority to her actual goal: fame. The problem is, her writing is self-important and vapid as tit, she has no stage presence, and she goes off whenever she gets the least bit of criticism. She’s not cut out for fame in the slightest but still thinks her time is coming because of the few remaining fans who suck her ass. If she put in even a bit of effort into improving her craft, or hell, just put in a bit more effort, really, she could do so much more and create work to actually be proud of, but for right now this all screams vanity project and money sink.

What I also took from that video though, on a positive note is how youthful, vibrant and energetic she looks there. Wether she can sing or not she seems really happy, and dare I say it (fake bits aside) looks quite cute too.

Nowadays she really doesn't resemble any of that. It makes me wonder if the bloke does have an influence. Get her self worth down to keep her devoted etc. She just seems deflated, jaded and tired these days, and her figure most certainly has slipped since the previous era. The pale aesthetic also does so little for her. She shouldn't resemble modern day Robert Smith.

And the constant proving herself to be a musician--sharing her throwback emo pics, her old band, etc. It's just a phase when she was a teenager, because Paramore was hot back then lol.

Your theory is probably true. It's intentionally a cash grab. Ironically, it made her income worse because nobody liked her when she turned into this "musician".

Her voice just isn’t very good. It’s not strong. She has a weird warble to it that in my opinion needs to be worked at to be removed..
I think warble is the right word… I have no idea how to explain it but its a weak voice and as far as we are aware, she doesn’t do anything to even better herself musically.
she has assumed that because she had some sort of platform that she’s easily be able to just, like people have said, make an easy cash grab. Not how the industry works. Pick a ‘phase’. Stick to it.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…
How are people going to be a fan of your music when it’s constantly changing and a fan of you when you’re constantly changing. People don’t know her well enough for her to delete ever trace of her before each phase and then to constantly slate her phase before.
It’s so frustrating. She knows nothing.

The stage behaviour reminded me a lot of a teeny bopper singing in front of a mirror with a hair brush also.

if you are brave enough...
Oh God that's so painful to watch. It's like the actual performer cancelled last minute and they've got someone from the crowd to give it a shot on the stage. She's not dressed the part first and foremost. There's "stage outfit" casual and there's "going to Tesco" casual and she's in the latter with this one.

She has zero charisma or stage presence either. Just pacing around. She must've had at least some training in voice or movement? Anything at all? She's been doing this for years there's no excuse, especially if it's her "passion". Ariana Grande still takes vocal lessons despite being at the top of her game so no excuse for Emma to coast on YouTube fame and hope for the best?
Her singing voice is basically her speaking voice with some (very weak) vibrato.

She said there was one song she made that took 2 YEARS from start to finish?! She just seems to be going about her entire music career the wrong way. Her focus is on charts and clout and aesthetics, throwing a passive aggressive strop when it inevitably flops. Does she have a manager or any team helping her? She's been stuck in the exact same place since I first came across her 6-7 years ago I think.

There’s no way that she has anyone helping her right now.
Despite her saying how awful her last phase was, that was the only time she got any sort of recognition outside of YouTube. Maybe they ended on bad terms or whatever, but at least she was getting onto Apple Music or whatever. Like if her goal is just to be famous then go with a management team and stfu lol

When she grew her hair out a while back, I commented how much I loved the shorter hair on her and she replied with a really rude comment. After that, I stopped listening to her music. 😆 I kinda liked her album, but after that I didn't want to support her.

Tbf, why would she be interested in your opinion about her hair? You know, if you don’t have anything nice to say… So in this situation I can understand a snappy reaction.

She didn't have to be rude about it. I mentioned how much the hair suits her under one of her music videos at the time (along with how cool the video is) and I didn't follow her on instagram, therefore I didn't know that she was growing her hair out. Doesn't justify a snappy reaction in my opinion. 🤷‍♀️

Honestly imo it does. I guess sometimes she can be snappy without good reason but in this case I can understand her snappiness.

Her positivity did not last long. Imagine being so tightly wound you get upset over a spice rack.

I know, this is one of the first times I have ever been surprised by her snappiness. I expected her to break her positivity pact over a friendship fallout or her not being able to resist making snarky comments about one of her former friends’ successes, not some rando who pointed out how she spells chilli. Guess I need to follow Gabbie Hanna’s advice and manage my expectations because mine were apparently too high for Emma.
