I know he’s made a huge huge mistake leaving a 3 year old out there playing by the pool but the situation sounds a lot better than all the wild rumours that have been posted here and on TT some of them were just awful and I’m not surprised she doesn’t want to see it.
I’m not sure I’d ever get over it or not be able to blame my husband but I really hope they can
it’s really sad and a terrible accident / mistake that they will never get over or stop blaming themselves for.

Completely disagree. She went for dinner with her friends allegedly, so she would have been gone a few hours at most. She was expected to look after a toddler and a newborn from day one. I’m sure he’s left the house for a few hours too. He’s their father and frankly he didn’t have a job, he’s just as well equipped to look after them as she is.

Absolutely agree. It’s not like she’s given birth the day before, he was born at the end of March.

I do wonder if he’d become very capable and confident swimmer which lured a false sense of security around pool safety, maybe it didn’t seem like a big deal if he was around the uncovered pool. Unfortunately all swimming skills and knowledge can go out the window if there’s a real emergency, children often don’t react the same if they actually fall in vs controlled environments.

I also can’t believe the amount of comments I’ve seen on TikTok along the lines of ‘why did she go out, men don’t have the same instincts and can’t cope with babies and young children’ What??

I reckon this is spot on. I’ve been in the exact position of having a newborn, a toddler, and an inground pool in the back garden. My toddler (she’s now 13!) was in swimming lessons from being a baby and was always a very capable swimmer, our pool had a fence around it with a locked gate but I wouldn’t even let her go upstairs/downstairs without me in case she fell, she didn’t play at the front or back without one of us there, and I cannot fathom her being out of my sight at that age. Maybe I’m just incredibly risk averse.
I was also a lot older than E&B and I think with age comes a heightened sense of danger, sometimes to an unnecessary degree. You feel immortal when you’re young, don’t you, and that probably extends to thinking the same of your kids. I’m not judging other young parents or saying they’re all laissez faire about safety. There are many cultural factors of course.

It can be hard to navigate the line between helicopter parent and standing back so they grow up independent and confident without bags of anxiety about everything, but an uncovered pool warrants the former not the latter.

I worked in a children's hospital while in college and saw a child on life support after an accident at sea and it was absolutely devastating. Can't imagine what they are going through. I wouldn't be able to go back to that beach let alone to a house. It won't feel like a home anymore.

My gran left her house to my Dad and my parents didn't move in because two of my siblings were kids at the time and there was an indoor pool. It just would have caused so much panic. If the door was locked etc. My mum didn't let me stay alone in grandparents house until I was a teenager as she'd seen accidents too

We take things for granted and put them on the long burner. We all do it. Unfortunately.

It will be Triggs birthday on Monday, iv not stopped thinking about Emilie and her family all week as iv been planning my little boys 4th birthday. Trigg was only 3 days younger than my boy, I can't imagine the loss and emptiness they must feel.
I don't know how they are getting through these days. Thinking of the Kisers xxx

Oh, wow, I wasn't expecting this! Surely there must be a bit more to the story than Brady losing sight of Trigg for 3-5 mins for police to recommend child abuse charges!? Yes, he shouldn't have left him unsupervised by the uncovered pool, but it seems extremely tough on a grieving parent...

EDIT: I've researched Arizona law and can now understand how police would recommend this charge. I can see the case being dropped though - Brady is already serving a life sentence.

Under circumstances likely to produce death or serious physical injury, any person who causes a child or vulnerable adult to suffer physical injury or, having the care or custody of a child or vulnerable adult, who causes or permits the person or health of the child or vulnerable adult to be injured or who causes or permits a child or vulnerable adult to be placed in a situation where the person or health of the child or vulnerable adult is endangered is guilty of an offense as follows:

1. If done intentionally or knowingly, the offense is a class 2 felony and if the victim is under fifteen years of age it is punishable pursuant to section 13-705.

2. If done recklessly, the offense is a class 3 felony.

3. If done with criminal negligence, the offense is a class 4 felony.

Wow I mean he was neglectful in that moment I suppose if he saw him near open water and walked away from him which then caused the drowning. But would they try him for child abuse based on that alone? Is there more to the footage? Or is that just US law? I’m trying to compare it to UK law, eg. The Mccanns were never tried for child abuse when they neglectfully

I think there might be more to it than what we've been told. It also makes me wonder if Emilie getting the files sealed is to do with more than just Trigg's privacy.

I thought the 3-5 mins leaving him alone was dubnked as a lie? He left him alone for about 20 mins and it was Emilie who saw it on the security camera and called the ambulance.
Seeing a young child play by a pool without any safety and letting him get on with it unsupervised is criminal in my mind. They have the camera footage and have decided it's very wrong.

This is all speculation. It's been reported by official news outlets that Brady found Trigg, removed him from the pool and called 911.

It’s such a tough one. On one hand, somebody who is negligent should be punished but on the other hand, in this case he already has a life sentence of guilt to deal with.

It’s not important really but I doubt very much their marriage will be able to survive this and that’s no reflection on how strong they are as a couple.
