I've not got a dog but my cat sleeps in my bed every night. My partner calls her a rooster block 😂

My staffy knows to only go on the sofa if her bed is on it, and she goes in that. She goes on the bed when we’re in work (we have cameras to check she is ok.. she’s a rescue and was awful at being left for a long time) but we cover the bed with a blanket during the day. She knows she can’t go on it when we’re home and there’s no blanket

Yes! I read a quote a while ago that said that we have a life separate from our dogs, they don’t have that, we are there whole life, they don’t have anything but us. I only got my first dog 3 years ago and I will admit that before I got him I didn’t get it, I really didn’t, thought dog people were weird. Now I have my own I fully admit I was wrong.

Also this quote from Marley & Me gets me every time. I well up.

“A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water logged stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?”
Haha I knew there was a reason why I refused to ever watch that film again. Absolute tear jerker, but so right.
Dogs enrich our lives so much and ask for so little.
Welcome to the crazy world of dog life 😂

I would give anything to have Thea on my bed every night still ❤

My dog seems to enjoy sleeping on her own beds but she is allowed on the sofa if it is covered with a blanket. She is really hairy so she only gets on my bed if I am going to be changing it in the morning. She knows she is isn't allowed on if it has just been changed and every other night she sits and waits to be told if she is allowed on or if she has to sleep on her own bed.

We said when we get a dog we would never let them sleep on our bed or sofa and ashamed to say we have done both 😆 He has only slept on our bed twice and that was when he was a pup and we first bought him home and he wouldn't settle. He does get up on the sofa though but he is non moulting so we hardly have any dog hair. My kids just want him with them on the sofa all the time and like the poster above he is my baby and I love to see them cuddling up together.

Both my dogs sleep on my bed (small cocker spaniels) I made a rod for my own back my second cocker was very poorly when he was about 16 weeks old, he had surgery after surgery and he would whine from the pain all night so I brought them up to bed with me and they’ve been there ever since 😂 plus my husband sometimes works nights and I get lonely and honestly cuddling up to them in bed on a night is the best part of my day ❤

My Beagle has full run of the house, spoilt rotten 😂View attachment 154573
Beagles are the best! ❤❤❤

Well I used to feel guilty every day leaving the dog at home whilst we went to work and school but since we've been at home I've realised that he just sleeps the whole day away and wakes up promptly at 4pm ready for us to come home. So I don't feel guilty now. He's been the worst admin assistant I've ever had 😂😂

We’ve got a springer spaniel, he’s not allowed on furniture or beds, and sleeps in the kitchen at night.

Didn't know where else to post this ( and keeping on topic, yes my boys sleep on my bed!)
The price of pups have rocked during covid, I didn't believe it until I had a look, I bought my last boy ( border collie) 2 years ago for £200, now you can't one for less than £1000, and am sorry will upset some folk, but a mix breed fetching thousands, they used to be called Heinz 67 or mongrels in my younger days, think there's going to be alot of rehoming later this year when folks go back to work and leave a young dog at home :(

Before we got our dog I was adamant that she would not be allowed upstairs, not on sofas or beds etc. 11 months in and she is allowed everywhere, sleeps on our bed and is spoilt rotten 🙈 She is a Vizsla so hardly sheds and is always very clean. I hate that 'wet dog' smell....urgh...but she is short haired and really doesn't smell bad at all (she is bathed weekly just in plain warm water, and I bought this lush dog spray that makes her smell 👌)

I am surprised at how attached I have become to her tbh. I have always been a cat person really, and the dog purchase was very much driven by my husband and kids. Ironically she is 100% my baby now and I never anticipated the love I would feel for her. I can't imagine our life without her now, and couldn't give a shiny tit if someone judges me for allowing her on our bed 🤪

I looked into another boxer 11 years ago she cost me £750 I’d be looking at over £2000 now. Crazy.

My dog isn't allowed upstairs so no beds. He is allowed on the sofas but he doesn't sleep on them overnight - he's got a basket in the kitchen for that.

We get our new puppy next Sunday. Any tips for introducing him to an existing dog in the home, especially in regards to sleeping??

Where do I start! Is your other dog ok with other dogs?
I had 2 other dogs when I introduced my last pup, we've got a utility room and made that pups place for sleeps, it was hard work introducing to my old girl, she took an instant dislike to him had to watch them all the time, good luck and enjoy the puppy time ( hard work) but 2 yrs later my then pup is settled and feels like he's been with us for years :)

GSD owner so it’s not that she’s not allowed upstairs as such but we just try and not encourage it due to spreading the fur! 😂 Same with the couch. She sits on my husbands knee occasionally, all 37kgs of her 😂 but she doesn’t get up on the sofa.
