No I didn't, they just put their dog on the lead, said he's never done that before , sorry and buggered off!!! I've never seen them before, it's a local walk to me, unfortunately I was on my own, and had my oldie in my arms whilst trying to see if my other dog was ok.

They ALWAYS say its never happened before. I walk around the park for exercise and on three ocassions I've heard a regular dog walker say 'he's never done that before' when he's gone for other dogs.

we don’t plan to have carpet anywhere, and in terms of breeds, we’re considering Corgi and / or Swedish Vallhund. We’d love to rescue eventually but we’re not experienced yet.

I used to look after a SV and he was very, very barky.

We have a Yorkshire Terrier and yes he goes everywhere. Can get really annoying at night actually because I can’t spread out.

I hope somebody can give me some advice.
Getting a house built and we can’t wait to be homeowners and be able to have a dog. We’ve had cats before (I love both cats and dogs don’t come for me), but since they passed we weren’t allowed other pets while renting.
My question is about flooring options that work best with dogs. We were thinking of laminate but were told to steer clear in case puppy has an accident. Any advice?

Some dogs dislike laminate flooring, but most are fine so long as they don’t get excited. And it’s noisier, especially before they’re due their nails trimmed You’ll probably need some rugs for problem areas, at least initially. I have laminate downstairs and numerous runners because my dog has never got on with flooring without grip. I would rather have carpet but the floor is fine for humans. I have a Vax carpet cleaner for all the rugs and do that monthly, using a Shark pet hair vacuum 2x a day.

The price of pups have rocked during covid, I didn't believe it until I had a look, I bought my last boy ( border collie) 2 years ago for £200, now you can't one for less than £1000, and am sorry will upset some folk, but a mix breed fetching thousands, they used to be called Heinz 67 or mongrels in my younger days, think there's going to be alot of rehoming later this year when folks go back to work and leave a young dog at home

I looked into another boxer 11 years ago she cost me £750 I’d be looking at over £2000 now. Crazy.

Before we got our dog I was adamant that she would not be allowed upstairs, not on sofas or beds etc. 11 months in and she is allowed everywhere, sleeps on our bed and is spoilt rotten She is a Vizsla so hardly sheds and is always very clean. I hate that 'wet dog' smell....urgh...but she is short haired and really doesn't smell bad at all (she is bathed weekly just in plain warm water, and I bought this lush dog spray that makes her smell )

I am surprised at how attached I have become to her tbh. I have always been a cat person really, and the dog purchase was very much driven by my husband and kids. Ironically she is 100% my baby now and I never anticipated the love I would feel for her. I can't imagine our life without her now, and couldn't give a shiny shit if someone judges me for allowing her on our bed

What’s beautiful dog. I had a boxer and she never once smelt. I guess it the very short hair. Defo makes it easier when they get their own way woth everything

I would still report it as it could be that they are known. What kind of a dog did they have?

Last time I checked most breeds including cross breeds were well over £3k!
In fact I just looked at the pets4homes site and yep- £2500 for a cockerpoo!

I’d pay that for mine if I had to, he’s amazing. ResearcheD the breed and for temperament and training a cockerpoo was what suited us for a therapy dog, his size, no Multing etc.

it’s like anything though, if you want it you just pay it- like designer goods I guess!

We said when we get a dog we would never let them sleep on our bed or sofa and ashamed to say we have done both He has only slept on our bed twice and that was when he was a pup and we first bought him home and he wouldn't settle. He does get up on the sofa though but he is non moulting so we hardly have any dog hair. My kids just want him with them on the sofa all the time and like the poster above he is my baby and I love to see them cuddling up together.

Dog owners... what food do you feed your dogs? My boy is getting recurrent ear infections that I think is down to a food allergy. He's on Wainwrights at the mo. Been looking into Raw but it's too expensive (I have two dogs). Going to do a trial of Tails.com and looking at Arden Grange sensitive!

My mum has used Tails.com for our dog for a few years now. Its the only food our dog has actually eaten every day and her coat is so shiny with it and its not too expensive either.

I didn’t think of giving her dinner later… I’ll try that thanks! Our garden, has grass, decking and slabs and it’s big… she does use it in the day time it just seems to be night time when I’m having issues. Thanks for the reply and I’ll definitely check out that link

That’s good, sounds like a lovely garden when my dog had recently feeding later really helped for that so fingers crossed. Always worth calling DT for some general advice, too. They helped me with some things that seemed so obvious in hindsight. Good luck!

We had that problem with our puppy when we first got him. He did eventually just grow out of it.

We adopted a stray from Zante back in January...

She's absolutely gorgeous, so loving and adorable. But we also have a 6yr old female (and very grumpy) cat.

Dog lives downstairs, cat lives upstairs. To be fair, the cat has only just got around to tolerating the husband after he tried to take her to the vets 3years ago (I had to ring them and apologise for the no-show ), so bringing a dog in was probably being too optimistic

Therefore the dog gets the sofa, the cat gets the bed.

I have a golden retriever and he is allowed on the sofa. I mean how else would we cuddle while watching tv. But a hard no on the bed because he is way too big and I need my space. But he sleeps in a crate next to our bed, the crate is simply because he would get in bed if we didn't confine him.

That's always the first thing I've heard, he's never done that before, my oldie got attacked years ago, then we had an electrion over who had a young dog in his van, I said bring him in, he said he was attacked a week earlier, ended up the vets, time we chatted, it was the same dog who had attacked my oldie.

Well I used to feel guilty every day leaving the dog at home whilst we went to work and school but since we've been at home I've realised that he just sleeps the whole day away and wakes up promptly at 4pm ready for us to come home. So I don't feel guilty now. He's been the worst admin assistant I've ever had

I respectfully disagree that dogs should be kept on a lead, mine lives for ball chasing and I don’t see why he should be punished because of the few naughty dogs. I’d happily muzzle him if required but he needs a good run off lead or he’d never tire!

Mine love balls chasing too, but because of attacks, if I see other dogs, I put mine on leads, naughty dogs, no sorry, really aggressive dogs, just wish some dog owners would be aware and have good recall,

Where do I start! Is your other dog ok with other dogs?
I had 2 other dogs when I introduced my last pup, we've got a utility room and made that pups place for sleeps, it was hard work introducing to my old girl, she took an instant dislike to him had to watch them all the time, good luck and enjoy the puppy time ( hard work) but 2 yrs later my then pup is settled and feels like he's been with us for years

Yes he loves other dogs! He’s 1 and a half so still young himself. We’ve got a crate for new pup but don’t really have another room he can sleep in on his own
