I honestly wasn’t that fussed about it when I started classes,I just wanted a well behaved and well socialised dog, but I do feel really proud of him and me that we’ve improved so much that he got his on first try. When we started I couldn’t get a 10 second sit/stay, can now do a 2 minute down/stay without problem. Whenever he’s naughty I remind him he has bronze paws now so knows better

So I did the bronze kennel club training, not done the exam yet I'll probably wait till he is a bit older and has focus for longer (+ more practice).
I started pre agility training which is what I've found the most enjoyable so far out of all training classes I've done.
I'm a bit worried about some of his behaviours so I also am doing 1-1 sessions with a trainer.
But he isn't food motivated so I struggle to get him to want to listen. Anyone got suggestions of the best treat? Tried the usually chicken, ham and a variety of dog treats.

Have you tried something stinky? You can get tripe mini treats like these, the strong smell and flavour mya attract his attention.

I tried liver paste but it was just hard as my hands got messy and it was hard to drop it. I'll have a look for them treats you posted or similar
No but my vet's dog did rescue work and training and once he posted it had come back covered in hundreds!!!!!!! Obviously he could remove them.

My dog has a bright orange football, he's just come in, saw abit of orange on his eyelid, thought it was abit of the footie, nope another bleddy tick, I hate having to 'operate' around his eyes.
Yes. No Barney walks on a trail near ours but he's not had any. None of my dogs ever had one in their lives. Yeah must be tricky round the eye area.
Gosh you've been lucky, my oh was chatting to someone yesterday and they've had the same problems with ticks!
The eye area is awful, needs 2 of us to get the blighter out! he's got a bald spot there now!
Must be lucky then. I couldn't believe my vets dog had so many on her. He posted it up and counted every one. Over 200. Crazy. I suppose you'll just have to keep getting the buggers out. Good job you can do it properly without leaving the head in and your dog lets you. Like I said Barney would flip, there would be no way in hell.
Blimey, over 200! Yes you need to get all of it out, it's a bugger when they don't come out in one go, my boy isn't keen on anything to do with his body, he hates being brushed, he gets mats so I need to sort that, he's an awkward bugger, you'd laugh if you could see me in an awkward position on the kitchen floor trying to cut them out!
Have you tried the 4fleas tablets? My old lad has only had ticks once (thank duck and full sympathies to you guys 
) but I bought some in desperation once and the little guys just died and fell off, it was quite miraculous. Good for spot treating fleas too if, just for example, you so happen to think you've finally got shot and the dog starts scratching 3 hours into a 5 hour car drive to go on holiday

Had my cockapoo at the vets today, surgery for undescended testicles. Long story short they cut him open couldn't find them, then his heart rate crashed and apparently we were very close to losing him

I'm thankful he is home and recovering but now I have several problems. I am £500 worse off and my dog still has testes (somewhere). After recovery they are recommending an MRI at £2.5k (not covered by insurance) But in reality the problem is I don't want to have him put under again after today. I'm tempted to leave him be. Is that selfish?.

I think undescended testicles left can increase the risk of cancer. So Id want to know what % increase. If its low then you need to weigh it up.
Also I hope youre ok. That sounds such a stressful experience. Your poor boy and you!

Have they said why his heart rate crashed or was it just the length of time of surgery? Our vets around here are really variable in which ones are great with surgery and which aren't (according to local dog walkers, would it be worth having a chat with another surgery to see whether they could give you more reassurances?Thank you

.No they didn't say, only that it went down to 30. He is only slight 6kg, they did say they would probably refer him to a specialist. I'm just not sure I can put him through it again.
I get that, it's so nerve wracking. Maybe the vet could advise on whether it might be doable when he's a wee big bigger if he still has some growing to do? They need to give you a bit more detail on why it dropped I think as that'll no doubt help guide you. If you feel like you're not getting the answers, change vets. It's much like us changing GP surgeries really if we're not keen on things.
He is 18 months so I think he's just naturally a little boy. Thank you I feel like I will go in Monday now and ask the right questions. I've stuck with the vets as they're a small village vet, 5 min walk from me, always busy and don't get me wrong I'm very thankful that they bought him around but I do think I may look for a more modern practice.
Always worth a wee ask around. Do you know any other folk with dogs or folk with dog walking businesses? They're good for intel (as well as local Facebook groups and the like, but doggy folk are the best for info I've found)
