Does anyone remember the utterly bizarre poster in General Discussion who used to request images of hard faced celebrities like Patsy Palmer wearing denim jackets?!

I guess I should be thankful that I've rarely been in the same DS circles as "Tanya". Someone who spends that much time on the General Discussion forum and has that many posts in such a short time has something up.

Hi everyone, its Justmadeit here, I've just joined this forum. Im a long time member of digital spy (17 years) same name on there (Justmadeit) and am currently coming to the end of a 4 week ban. What did I do wrong? I posted a YouTube link to a New Zealand doctor, Dr Sam Bailey who was discussing pcr testing accuracy regarding covid 19, and I'd previously posted another video titled 10 facts about covid which was pointed out contained incorrect data, fair enough. However, these weren't extreme David icke/Alex Jones type fear mongering links, merely different opinions on data and lockdowns etc, I mean heck, even government advisors get things wrong....anyway I assume I got reported by a member hence the 4 week ban. Its heretical to post anything that's not on the BBC or Sky news it seems, however reasonable you may think it is.

I don't remember the moderation being as strict years ago on there.

Anyway, i'm hoping to be back on there on Thursday when the ban should he lifted, though I must proceed with caution! :D I mainly go on the General discussion board or occasionally in Advice, Radio, plus computer/phone board for queries. I have gone through periods in the past of not logging in for over a year at a time and other times going on there a lot.

Anyway, greetings 🤚

I've tried using mail.com and protonmail addresses, and while being at different properties with totally different IP addresses, on my phone, etc. None of it works.

It's laughable. Someone tell Hearst that DS is not homeland security and really doesn't need that level of policing.

If I ever had one NY resolution that I would hope to keep for the whole of 2021, is to keep all those DS fuckwits well away from Tattle!

Oh dear

Can't say I'm surprised, and yet the site owners or the moderators don't seem all that bothered with such bad publicity. I suppose if the advertisers started pulling out they might actually do something, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

He sure is - noticed that he seems to only ever say anything positive about women of colour, even when it defies any sort of logic (for instance, Vick Hope was a far bigger signing and a far better fit for Strictly than Bill Bailey). Just seems to troll a lot of the time as well.
It’s really strange. Creepy I think says it better though. He is fascinated in a really odd way about women of colour and is just derails threads time and time again.

He can’t accept that not everyone will like who he does. But then again I doubt anyone does to the same level as him.

He really is a creep who takes obsession too far...

Another DS member here... After reading one too many of Tanya's epic posts I felt like I needed a change of scenery! I stumbled across Tattle a few days ago then saw this thread so thought I'd stay! I'm probably the only one who hasn't had a ban from DS but I'm not an argumentative poster, I like to just offer the occasional anecdote. I still post in soaps sometimes (under a different username) and occasionally GD. I hadn't really noticed how toxic DS had become until I read this thread and thought "actually... Yes!" It's not as bad as Mumsnet though, I'm still traumatised after venturing briefly in there!

I don’t know if you managed to catch it because DS support said they were going to delete it (didn’t go back to check whether they did) but the POLITICS forum had a 2020 award ceremony thread 😂 James2001 got an award! I don’t think it was exactly “most knowledgable poster” but it was something equally as ridiculous that made me burst out laughing. Oleo Strut got one too can’t remember what for though. Support left a message saying it was going to be deleted because some of the later posts were “toxic” 😂😂

What is the reason for the apostrophe in DS? Do you have proof that DS has an apostrophe?

Confirm what you mean by suffocating. Do you have any proof of these so called cliques and bannings? A long time poster suggests you were there before the revamp but you have not provided sufficient evidence that you were at all.

You say you are sure but without proof this is just your interpretation. Do you have a timeline of when this supposed behaviour worsened and when you say progressively how progressive was it when you used that word?

^^THAT is how Veri used to typically respond to every single post that didn’t share the same viewpoint, drove me up the bloody wall!! Oh, and welcome, it’s much nicer here 😇😇
[/QUOTE]

I saw the awards thread. Moany Liza got one but can't remember what for. Must have been for being a nasty piece of work sometimes and then sickeningly sycophantic by telling anyone who'll listen how caring she is. Honestly, some of that pack are off their rockers. It's like Lord of the Flies on there.

I actually met Mr Fix It as a student nurse at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, when I was doing a spinal injuries placement. This was back when JS was an NHS hero, running marathons and raising millions for hospitals up and down the country. He was charming to us student nurses, telling us all about his good works for the Spinal Unit, but when he left, he picked up my hand and french-kissed my palm whilst winking at me. I was - still am - traumatised.

I have subsequently found out I am not alone in my trauma, tonguing young women's hands, especially in public, was a speciality of his. 🤢🤢🤢
If women had bare forearms, I read he sometimes ran his tongue along the length!

Apologies if I come across as a little hard on users with large post counts but I helped administer a (sports) forum for about ten years. You quickly get to know the poster types, a bit like this...

There’s another very prominent member who causes trouble, rants if she doesn’t like your post, bleats to the mods and next thing you know, a warning or ban appears.
We all know who she is- if not, perhaps if I say narcissistic, fantasist, sordid sexploits, you will know who I mean. I think this poster was the ringleader, responsible for the bans.

Ridiculous but unsurprising. The mods always ban the wrong people.
Not hard to imagine what sort of person the average mod would be like though. The description "socially inept" is the very kind version.

I see Sport1 and Scottie2121 are still active, how they escaped a ban is beyond me, even after they stalked me for months and DS did fuck all about it.
Oh those two are vile.

As is sorcha_47 and viva.espana.

Completely hideous human beings if their internet persona is anything to go by yet allowed free reign to run amok. WHY!

I too consider myself liberal in most things, although I'm more of a centrist in reality. Nevertheless, I believe in genuine free speech and open opinion without fear of being "cancelled"

Unfortunately, it seems we are heading towards the abyss that is cancel culture, and the big social media players seem willing to let things go that way.

Shame about DS. It was a good site, but now its part of the problem
Cancel culture is terrifying and horrifying to me.

I do believe with free speech comes responsibility but where we are headed is like a dystopian nightmare from where I'm sitting. This whole thing with "call outs" surely can't be a healthy way to build a better future. All I see it creating is anger in all directions.

I just popped on to read what people thought of the new series of The Bay, sometimes there's decent enough insights on the TV Shows UK forum and I've never found anywhere with certain shows bing discussed.

WTF is going on, nothing on the latest page (49) is even really about the show? It's like it's a big joke between long-time members and if you aren't one of them go away?

Yeah, they had a thing about a Coronation Street actors ‘not clapping’ when Eastenders won any awards.

There was a poster called ‘Monalisa’ who was/is an obsessive Eastenders troll and borderline stalker of the cast, who was banned for posting threatening remarks about one of the producers when the show was going through a rough patch, it was really serious and the BBC actually got involved. DS pinned a notice at the top of the forum warning people about what they say. Then when the forum revamped last year, there was a ban amnesty and she was allowed back! Total nightmare and very unwell mentally in my opinion. But there you go, ours is not to reason why I suppose.

Oh blimey yes!! There was also MormonGirl who is severely autistic and she used to start threads about 'which EE actors have you met' and she'd always ask if people liked to read her posts. I suspect they're letting every Tom ,Dick and Harry back because they have lost so many FM's.

This is perfect timing.

Today I came across a thread and posted a reply. I got a warning and restrictions on my account for bumping an old thread, yes it was old, no I did not read the date but a warning and restrictions is a bit much when they could just have told me of my 'error' (mistake actually)...bunch of idiots. I've now replied and expect a full life ban for the content of my reply.

Tanya1982 reminds me of the 'good old days' on the Showbiz forum. I've been on there since 2004 (miraculously managing a perm-ban thus far). There used to be a FM whose original incarnation was 'Fancy'. She then had a trillion other aliases - WooWookid, Little Chicken, millions of others, I literally cannot be arsed to remember them all. The pattern was always the same - she would post on a new thread like she was a long-term poster, never had the intelligence to change her posting style, her little posse would all kiss ass, it would all kick off, (it was usually her dying on the sword of her hero Peter Andre), she would be banned, 2 days later, new login etc. We managed to find out her real name and she was a fat, semi-literate chav of about 65. Honestly, you could not make some of the stuff up that's gone on over there.
