I have never seen anything so bizarre on any online community, and I've been online for a bloody long time.

Are we meant to believe she is a 38 year old woman by her username and numbers? She sounds like an embittered middle-aged man.

I remember once venturing into the I'm a Celeb section and there were people going ballistic because the daily thread had been started by somebody different. It got about ten minutes into the episode and everytime somebody tried to get things back on track, another moaner would appear, ranting about how the episode had been ruined because the usual thread starter hadn't got there in time. Talk about first world problems.

Amusingly enough, I checked in the next day, and the sainted original poster was evidently so miffed by the previous day's events they had started the thread something ridiculous like six hours early. Beyond nuts.

Now while I dislike Little Miss 1982 (most likely a Mr imo) and her dreadful attitude, her meltdowns and ever changing back story have added some spice to DS I’m recent times.

Not always for the best though I’ll concede.

I’ve so wanted to pull her up on her inconsistent life but fear I’ll get harangued by her even more than I’ve already been. She stalked and followed me around DS for a few days after our first encounter.

From what I’ve gathered from her, she’s been married but is now divorced but at the same time is a widow (of the same husband) who died in a car crash when they were together. She’s also a self confessed snob who abhors the word ‘chav’ but will happily make slanderous comments about other users and has dabbled with ‘the ladies’ to make money to fund her son’s school fees but found it utterly repugnant and hopes her son won’t be gay.

She’ll happily sleep with 18 year old men but if a man does the same as her with a young woman he’s a perv ‘end of’.

Her only son has been various ages in the matter of days, ran away from home (don’t blame him) but returned and can swear at her no issue but if he wears shorts then he’s basically the devil in here eyes!

She also claims to know everything about anything but she barely knows a thing!

Far more interesting than my life that’s for sure. At least mine isn’t a load of fiction!

I came here thanks to Digital Spy - in fact it was to have a nosey to see what the true story about Philip Schofield's coming out was, as I felt it was very insincere and something was "off" - I get that PS is a control freak, but I suspect that runs much deeper.

I'm a member from years ago, but can't even remember the last time I logged in or posted. But even from that quick browse, I got the feeling DS was now very strictly moderated (must be to do with being owned by Hearst?). Someone on that thread mentioned Tattle for the real lowdown, (I saw it probably before it got deleted) and here I am.

HUKD (which I DO post on) also attracts the same criticisms in recent years - stricter moderation (I don't always agree with it, but generally it's not bad - though I don't like petty editing of just-submitted posts - gives mods something to do, I suppose). It does attract random trolls but sometimes people surprise you with a supportive PM or just stick up for you out the blue.

My mindset on HUKD is just to share deals and info, I'm not interested in being bitchy.

I tried to chat on Misc a few times, but found it really nasty. A few of the worst have been banned but I always though deeky was alright - what happened there?

Of course, being a long-term member anywhere means you eventually trip over eejits. I commented on a shoe thread and someone (male, I assume) sent an unsolicited PM. I'd said something flippant about a pair of shoes for Xmas Day, that I wasn't sure of the sizing.

I don't PM to "chat" - it's not my style and I'm not super-sociable in real life anyway - so I just humoured the person to be friendly. Mistake.

The PMs were jokey at first (he commented on me being blonde and wearing heels, when I replied mine comes out a bottle)...nothing flirty whatsoever. Then it turned into "make sure you send me some photos of you at Xmas"...er...no? I told him off and asked him to be more careful how he messaged female members in future. A week or two later I see him posting on a thread about his family life and his girlfriend.

Another that attracted an unsolicited PM was on a bra thread - I said I'd been putting on weight lately and had no idea what size I was these days. Btw, there were, for once, actually some women chatting on that thread.

Unfortunately, HUKD threads about women's underwear seem to attract schoolboys who think it's cool to post zoomed in body parts of the underwear models - and tend to be generally 99% male comments. As a woman reading, it looks, at best, immature, at worst, creepy and unwelcoming. Of course they see it as "banter". Threads about mens' boxer shorts or similar have very few, or no, comments from women.

Suppose this happens when you have a female username on the internet - but I (mostly) love posting on there, that's why I've stayed.

And I LOVE Tattle, some of the comments on here cheer me right up, and it's great you can actually swear, like an adult!

I don't know if anyone remembers but there was a wind up merchant about 2 years ago who seemed to have a huge obsession with Roxanne Pallett and also posted some frankly odd threads. I think she claimed to be a lecturer at a uni with a PHD in history whilst also doing 4 hour Sunday morning shifts at Waitrose. Also was an advocate of 15 minute public toilet checks.

That said, for the most part harmless and the threads were often quite funny so I kinda wish she wasn't banned. It's what I don't get with DS - silly wind ups get the ban but people who are actually quite vicious in what they say don't go anywhere.

Merry Christmas everybody. The amount of posters on there that have degrees coming out of their earholes or run successful businesses or have family at the top of every profession going, while still managing to spend all day, every day on DS spewing hatred and venom is truly amazing.

I consider myself liberal or at least left-leaning but I find the way big sections of the left have embraced censorship and seem to genuinely believe people having different points of view is a harmful thing so confounding it has kept me up at night sometimes.

I too consider myself liberal in most things, although I'm more of a centrist in reality. Nevertheless, I believe in genuine free speech and open opinion without fear of being "cancelled"

Unfortunately, it seems we are heading towards the abyss that is cancel culture, and the big social media players seem willing to let things go that way.

Shame about DS. It was a good site, but now its part of the problem

I was on there for about 8 years, stopped posting about 2 years back. I made the mistake of asking a question about something technical that I was struggling to get my head around and all I got back was sarky "Google is your friend" comments and links to the user manual, even though I had said that I had downloaded the manual but didn't quite get it! There's a few on there that can't wait to go all high and mighty to feel superior.

I tried to humour her without taking the piss because I didn't know her circumstances health wise. Not that it mattered because she ended up on a ban, during which time I left the site.

I used to go on DS quite a bit, a lot of posters are unnecessarily pedantic at times.

The worst are people like Frank Debrin, carl.waring (so shockingly rude I can't believe he's not been banned), the_don1, bollywood, and unique. Don't even bother trying to converse with them, just shove them on ignore. It will save some massive headaches. It's mindblowing to me how certain posters can break the rules 100 times over and nothing, but you can get banned for saying "I agree" to someone's politely expessed opinion in a debate about transgender issues.

Fred, indeed I was vocal about the Royal pair but...look back and read every post and you will not find attacks on how they look, how they dress et al, my criticisms were and are based on their actions toward the Royal Family and the british people which is very different to the posts on the Katie Price thread do you not think? I think your concern for Katie Price is rather misplaced. She has no talent other than a desperate ability to generate column inches for herself using her kids, boyfriends and surgical procedures.

In my view nobody is above criticism when they are public figures. It would be very dull if everyone just agreed XX (insert name) is lovely.

My main problem with DS these days is the hypocrisy. For example Ant can be abused but his ex wife is a saint. The royal family can be criticised but not Meghan and Harry and god forbid anyone sticks up for JK Rowling! It's very selective on there when it comes to what criticism is allowed.

It's a minefield on there. I've not posted since around Christmas time because the woke people ambush anyone who so much as farts at one of their right-on causes. I can't be arsed virtue signaling and tugging my forelock to a mob of lunatics who've taken over the asylum.
I read it every few weeks to see if owt has changed but it's still always just a cold house for anyone not supporting all the latest faddy causes. Yeah, you know the mods have lost the plot when they ban Whedonite over that thread, who is one of the most leftist lefties, wokiest woke person I have ever seen on a forum. I’ve never seen her write anything outside of the “party line” - still didn’t, actually. In that thread she kept reiterating that she thinks trans women are women but ‘please don’t call me a cis-woman because I don’t like it’ and was routinely ignored. I don’t like her so wasn’t particularly upset that she was getting goaded and patronisingly spoken to like I’ve seen her do to others. Perhaps it will also be a lesson to her that when you live your life by admonishing people and trying to get them “cancelled” when they don’t have the same views as you, don’t be surprised when suddenly your own views aren’t considered up to standard and the mob turns on you.

God I could write an essay thesis rant calling out DS posters. I can think of five off the top of my head but could probably be pushed to twenty if I had a few minutes to think of names.

It is quite sad that DS has become such a, I don't even know the word to describe it now. You used to be able to have some light-hearted banter or an interesting discussion without getting pulled up because you'd put an apostrophe in the wrong place or having your post dissected word by word and having to explain what each meant but now it's having the life sucked out of it by people nit-picking posts, hating anyone who is not a member of Momentum or has different views, being permanently offended and having absolutely zero personality or sense of humour.
