Better to stay clear. Even browsing will make you feel very bewildered at how one-sided and extreme it all is.

I have to say, some aspects of Twitter is going the same way. But DS in particular really is the one of the most undemocratic, hypocritical sites out there. They bang about freedom-of-speech, but only when it suits their myopic virtue signalling narrative!

I have an account over there as I used to enjoy the soaps forum but omg in the last year or so it is gone RIDICULOUS fake award ceremonies for the posters with awards such as “sexiest poster” You are either completely ignored or attacked if you are not in the clique and a few of the men on it are super creepy the way they talk about other male characters, on the Hollyoaks thread especially

Sleazy PM's are quite disconcerting, but a few DS members have hooked up in real life after exchanging PMs. GDman (?) and Saffi74 were one couple who lived out their romance online, probably still are for all I know, snug in their static caravan in St Asaph. It's one thing communicating with your partner on Facebook when you live in the same house, it's a whole different - and slightly bewildering - story conducting your love affair on Digital Spy. Or is it just me that finds it strange?

There are a bunch of trans activists on there and you cannot say anything without them getting offended. For example they all got up in arms about a tweet made by JK Rowling (which I didn't see as offensive). She was being ripped to sheds over it. Because they are so aggressive its absolutely not worth joining any discussion on the subject.

They seem to have been given unspoken permission by the mods to run the forums. It really is crazy.

Trans activists quite upset me. I consider myself a LGBTQ+ ally but trans activists are so toxic and even violent they make me afraid for the future. It's mindboggling they can't see the harm they are doing to their own cause.

The situation with Tanya1982 and the amount of alerts she has racked up, and the way she seems to control the forums is one of the strangest things I've ever seen.

Does anyone have any theories on what might be going on? Is "she" (if anyone was a candidate for a 15 stone middle aged trucker trolling as female, Tanya is it!) a mod in disguise having some sort of mental break? Only thing that makes any sort of sense to me!

I agree. I avoid her like the plague she is. That person is a deranged fantasist. Mingled with Royals and superstars and sports people. Sexually experienced, been there done it all. Lived on the streets with prostitutes in London. Been raped. Travelled the world. Massive IQ. Can sail boats and fly planes and scale tall buildings. Full of shit.

Definitely! I wouldn’t bother posting there as I would be ignored because I don’t have an unhealthy obsession with male rape storylines and getting two straight male characters together because the posters fantasise about them

I don’t know if you managed to catch it because DS support said they were going to delete it (didn’t go back to check whether they did) but the POLITICS forum had a 2020 award ceremony thread James2001 got an award! I don’t think it was exactly “most knowledgable poster” but it was something equally as ridiculous that made me burst out laughing. Oleo Strut got one too can’t remember what for though. Support left a message saying it was going to be deleted because some of the later posts were “toxic”

I was a very long time poster but started to find the whole forum suffocating with all the cliques and the banning.

Confirm what you mean by suffocating. Do you have any proof of these so called cliques and bannings? A long time poster suggests you were there before the revamp but you have not provided sufficient evidence that you were at all.

I was sure Veri from the BB forum was a she, she wasn't as bad in the early years but progressively got worse over the years.

You say you are sure but without proof this is just your interpretation. Do you have a timeline of when this supposed behaviour worsened and when you say progressively how progressive was it when you used that word?

They've threatened me so many times, then banned me earlier this year. But I've now been reinstated again. Each time has been so trivial because my opinion differed from the main. Hardly ever go on since finding Tattle.

I just hope and pray, Tattle doesn't end up in the woke swamp the same way DS has become

Hello fellow DS'ers, I am The Prumeister. Apologies in advance for anyone I have pissed off/upset/'spatted' with. I have been a member since 2004 and in the early days it was a fucking scream, then DSU was created and I had massive fall outs with all of them (can't believe it's still going tbh) and now it's just mediocre, butt clenching drivel on the whole (DS that is). I agree with the general consensus on Whedonite - no woman can ever be criticised. Veri is like Rumpole of the fucking Bailey and I remember a couple of jokers - AOTB and ChipDouglas82 who rode in on their white knight chargers sticking up for big titted 'stunners' like Danielle Lloyd et al. I still post on there but in a very half arsed way.

I am still a DSer but found tattle after PS (Schofield) wasn't allowed for discussion (in their defense - legalities). Worst I didn't ever follow PS, it's the Streisand effect!

I’m also a former DS forum user - often frequenting the broadcasting, Sky and Mobile Phone sub-forums (under the same username) I was an active member since pretty much day one, until about 2 years ago when I dared to have a different opinion in the Politics forum. I’d gone from not having ever being sanctioned to getting a lifetime ban within a few weeks. I’d like to echo that I was an “outsider” as I had opposing views (I support Brexit and hate the Labour Party) and the packs of wolves were out in force, dishing out personal abuse, picking apart everything and rounding up others to “have a go”. Of course, when I retaliated I was banned. I reported the other members for their vitriol but they were allowed to continue unabated.

Not only am I glad to have only found this place today, I’m also glad that I wasn’t alone. I was made out to be the devil-incarnate and was bullied out.

I feel like the forum was infiltrated by Momentum shills as it was around the time of Corbyn's rise to power that it became really terrible for the mods letting certain posters run riot while banning anyone who didn't instantly conform. I feel a Momentum member probably managed to get into the mod team as I think there was an appeal at one point for anyone who wanted a job to apply.

Either way, the place has become one of the most vile corners of the internet and I honestly feel that the politics regulars who are left are extremely unwell. Little else can explain their obsession, it does come across as a form of insanity.

There was a thread about JK what'sherface about the comments she made on twitter, the thread was closed and at least 8 people BANNED.

There was a thread about the bans but the thread was pulled within minutes.

Ive been banned for a week for saying I didn’t think that JK Rowling was transphobic in that thread. Apparently I was ‘minimising transphobia’. It’s ridiculous, but there you go. The mods have always been faceless hitlers over there.

Have loved catching up with this thread.

I've lurked on DS for years. Did post at one point but got fed up of the way people went on the attack over everything just because they wanted a fight. It's much better just lurking and laughing at all the morons.

Some posters really are truly nasty though. I wonder how the likes of walterwhite, dee123, BanglaRoad, Boo Radley 75 and shackfan haven't been banned. Then you get people like Walter Neff who are just really grumpy about everything and their posts are a real downer.

The politics forum there is just mind-boggling though. The level of hatred for anyone not in line with the hivemind is horrifying and scary. Hearst have a deeply troubling brand of censorship where abuse is okay as long as you have the "correct" opinion.

I've just got a permanent ban after being a member for nearly 15 years after a brief exchange with the charming BanglaRoad on the TalkRADIO thread - apparently it's trolling, being unconstructive and derailing a thread to point out that people have different opinions and you can only make an informed one yourself by hearing different points of views. That apparently is a ban worthy offence while telling someone to fuck off because you don't agree with them is perfectly acceptable. I think the only way to not get banned is to throw 'gammon', 'they know what they voted for' and 'all Brexiters and Tories are scum' into every post and you're fine.[/QUOTE]

One thing I've found here is if you disagree with someone or post a different view, you're not met with a torrent of abuse and called 'scum' or 'racist' every 5 minutes.

It does however seem to suggest they are trying to manipulate public opinion/narrative by siding with one side of the argument… for example, in the Politics forum, you see a lot of “Come on Brexiters, we’re still waiting for you to talk to us” messages on there, but those very posters and mods have systematically got those people banned so there is no longer a voice for the other side of the argument, thus making it look like no-one can come up with any counter-argument to their rhetoric so the casual browser of the forum might believe that opinion is generally as perceived. And I’m pretty sure that was still happening during the referendum and in elections which isn’t really fair and balanced.

According to the world of DS, everyone is non-binary or LGBT+, a Labour voter, an ardent remainer, absolutely ADORES Classic Corrie, grinds their own coffee, cures their own bacon in their smokehouse, never has a takeaway and insists on making everything from scratch, detests Wetherspoons and reads The Guardian. Not that there is anything wrong at all with the above, however it is just very one sided over there.

They say over there that the current government is corrupt. Well people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Rant over. Now where’s my (instant) coffee…?

Another DS refugee here - after having my posts relentlessly picked to pieces because I had a different opinion to the mob, being told to explain every single word of each of my posts, having my posts cherry picked and selectively re-quoted and basically feeling I was under attack by a pack of wild dogs who just keep on until their victim gives up or snaps back, I'm temporarily banned for calling the pack trolls! I contacted the forum support to ask why they condone bullying on their forums and seem to actively encourage it by never dealing with the main offenders, but they haven't responded.

As people have said on here, DS has turned into a humourless pit which drags even the most cheerful member down which is a shame because you used to be able to have a laugh on there but most of the interesting contributors have either been banned or had the sense to leave and the place is dominated by a bunch of sanctimonious pedants with no sense of humour. I've been a member there since 2006 with no problems and yet in the last year or so, I've had countless warnings and bans for not going along with the popular opinions.

Unfortunately they are representative of a very vocal minority on the fringe of the left these days, who want to control language, and shut down debate. I'm like you I'm left, just not "progressive " left

Try saying something in favour of the conservatives and you're automatically labelled as Tory scum, gammon loving etc etc

There's a whole world of 'in-between' out there that seems to have bypassed a lot of them.
