Monalisa62003 is a very unpleasant person who you should not be fooled by. If you crossed her on the forums she would magically be able to locate you on Twitter or Facebook and would start harassing you. She was banned for causing all kinds of shit but then when the mods allowed all previous bannings to be lifted she was able to get back on. I can't say if she has learned lessons since but back in the day she was a horror. I even think the BBC intervened at some point because she had been harassing cast and crew of Eastenders.

Goodness knows, they just seemed to be spoiling for a fight :)
It's quite weird and meta - forums members using forums to slag off other forum members and their discussions. Maybe we should all get in a big forum and fight it out to the digital death

By the way, I am decobelle on DS and AV - not a lurker but not a prolific poster either! I think I was OD'ing on Sex and the City when I set this profile up a year ago

According to cuddly ol' Bangla, holding a pint of milk is a symbol of white supremacy.
What a seething mess of a bloke 😂

Have you opened and read the link? Post #70 is what I was referring to.
Great reply from dearmrman though :D

I think people are just venting. A lot of posters are just frustrated and angry at the way they were treated for years at DS. I know I did. Especially as I had been posting for a long time and the whole experience was ruined by a few posters who seemed take over in the last couple of years.

It's just kicked off because of what's happened the last couple of days.
Yes, I see your point. I was really just thinking of that Oscar Wilde Quote - “There is only one thing worse than being talked about and that is is not being talked about.” I think posters who cause trouble just love being talked about regardless of what is being said. But yes I do accept that things are still raw.

Oh and thanks for the non pasting! 😀

Hello all, yet another recipient of the completely arbitrary DS ban hammer here. Can I begin by saying thank you to Plymouthbloke1974 for referring to James2001 as a 'gold-plated window licker', that literally made me LOL!

I think any trouble makers tend to come straight for this thread and have no interest in the wider forum. I've not seen any spill out so far.

AV seemed to be the go-to for most of the refugees. However a lot are still on DS itself - quite a few threads were created last night in advice moaning about this and that.
DS refugee here. I’ve ventured out to a few threads. Started with the really contraversial ones like Best and Worst Designer Items You’ve Purchased and Fashion Trends You Hate. So I thought I’d go for something less challenging and have just posted in the Brexit Thread.

james asked me last night on DS was this site the one that is openly hostile to DS members who join here
Truly everyone has been amazing since I joined, Never knew about this place until DS closed the Saggy arse thread
for those that don't know it was a long running thread about Philip schofield when he posted those naked pictures of himself
and it became the main thread for any stories on him.
I've only been here 6 weeks (lurked for a long time though) and have been all over the site and I really like it. I haven't come across a thread that is horrible to other posters if you have a different opinion and the only place I've seen DS and it's posters mentioned is in this thread. It seems contained in here which is good so as not to infect this forum with the nastiness that took over DS.

A quick look on ds 'recent discussions' page this morning, and it is just A-Z games, & stuck, stranded like an island used for nuclear testing, amongst the A-Z of dog biscuits, is the LBC Shit-Chat thread 😁
It's sad the way it's so rapidly deteriorated over the past 2/3 years. I joined right at the beginning, in 2004. I think Martin and Chinchin are the only other survivors. The gradual hardening of Global's news programmes made the thread more political but it was still possible to have a rational discussion, a laugh and even a heated argument without accusations of being a racist, Fascist, Nazi etc. Then 'wokeness' arrived and it was used as an excuse to flag up anything that didn't fit certain posters' agenda. For the first time you had to think carefully about everything you said. In the end it became so uncomfortable it was almost a relief to be booted off. My particular crime was racism, for taking p*** out of the EU! Now they've got nobody to oppose their opinion and it's just become a boring echo chamber.

Ive always found his posts odd at times , but nothing offensive , sometimes replies with one opinion and then the opposite to someone else , but i think thats just to try and remain in the conversation

I really felt sorry for him back in January when he posted how scared he was of the virus, and that was 100% down to the usual suspects filling the thread will BS and scaremongering, that was when i tried to show why he neednt be scared , and then the whole thread jump aboard the bandwagon of trying to get me off the tread , by using their "facts" :D its essentially bullying , i dont really care but its awful if someone turned up for a proper chat and they are met with hate, then it can make people miserable, and Occy got a fair bit of being mocked by them all on there , so i'm not surprised he is struggling

i deleted my account so i cant go back on to back him up :D

Hello all. Never joined DS although I tried a few years back as I wanted to join in the darts thread. For some reason it allowed me to register, then said I couldn't post and then couldn't sign back in as the user name was taken. I only found that place because I was searching for a mystery person who taken out an injunction. Ashamed to say I spent far too much time there reading threads and raising my blood pressure by reading the Politics forum.

Then I spent all day yesterday chuckling my manbosoms off as the place went into meltdown. Will add the shout outs to Belfast for saying it as it is to the resident idiots there. As said, irony was totally lost on the worst of the worst as the flouncing got so pronounced that it blew the bows over hundreds of tiny violins.

This place was recommended as an alternative prior to archiving along with AV (which I didn't like the look of) so here I am. I don't belong to any other forums, except for a football one, so let's see how it goes. Hope everyone is ok and taking care of themselves and loved ones in these horrible times.

Yes indeedy. There are some nice people on DS as well as the nasty, horrible, arrogant, insulting etc members :p 🤣 :p
You honestly have to wonder how these people behave in the real world?! Are they just as aggressive and confrontational? Hmmmm I bet they're just keyboard warriors and DS is the only place they have status.

Plymouthbloke1974.

I see James responded to you with his often recited myth that the Politics forum was a right wing echo chamber, pre 2017. With a post that he saw fit to edit nine times.

I remember it being somewhat more balanced. Never a right wing echo chamber.

Where does James get his BS from?
To be fair Ingress it was a mix of extreme right and extreme left. I do remember after the 2019 election, there was a lot of Tory supporters although to be fair that was probably to be expected at that time given the election results.

I do regret posting on the forum looking back now. Sulla who I genuinely liked got a permanent ban. Ok the thread he made was strange but it didnt warrant a lifetime ban.

I noticed someone questioning a poster saying that were banned for saying they liked Boris and was banned for trolling. The reply was 'why do people make up shit about what they were banned for?'

I went through my moderation on DS and I could show them some stuff that would make them think twice. Banned and suspended for being 'unconstructive' is a favourite.

I'm sure it will all calm down on the various forums over the next few days. People will find a home and stick to it

I’ve never understood the level of criticism directed at Occy either. Personally his contributions never really bothered me, though I can see why some may find him perhaps mildly (only very mildly) irritating. But still, he was harmless. Much, much worse people on DS. In fact Occy I don’t think even scores at all on a 1-10 of troublemakers/nastiness/problematic.

Mind you, the Lego fetish guy did my head in and I did end up blocking him in the end!
I said the same about occy in a previous post here. Yes, he starts the most silly of threads, but NEVER have I seen him be rude to another FM, no matter how rude they are to him.

LOL, don't get me started on Lego Man! AndrewBrown...? Any excuse to mention Lego. He even started a thread in Food & Drink. I can't remember how he wangled that one, but he did.

The moderation on d.s could be a bit extreme at times, the covid 19 stuff for example: have a different outlook on it all or disagree with some of the science that the government uses and provide links to other (non conspiracy) type sources and it could land you with a temporary ban and many posts in the thread being removed. I also felt that some would likely hit the report button if you disagreed with them one too many times

I was on digital spy for 17 years until January. Things did seem to become more strict, I noticed what I felt was a cancel culture creeping in

Stolengoodplacejanet

I've often wondered if this was the same person as they claim to have the same profession and are both nasty vicious posters. Stolengoodplacejanet openly boasted that they would report anyone she thought were being the slightest bit misogynistic - misogynistic in her opinion.

:/
yes , she even said she had the backing of the mods to clean up the forums, talk about narcissistic , i think they have to be the worst ever , just through the amount of people they got banned on a bloody innocent thread like classic corrie

now Digi Spy is pretty much a dead horse

maybe the real truth about why Phil Schofield came out publicly after nearly 30 years can be told and become common knowledge

two words

MATT MCGREEVY
Oh no someone mention the S word, I thought this thread was a S free zone.
Anyway everyone knows it was Gordon The Gopher's autobiography "Why I squeak like a Girl" that outed Phillip Schofield. If you had Schofield's hand up your backside for three years you would squeak that high.

I had been thinking something similar but not to the extent of a 'which is better' scenario but that does have a certain appeal.

I'm still in that weird limbo of figuring out what goes where between here and AV but still have a toe in DS for a TV show or two, as long as I can cope with (a) the various knowalls killing any discussion between the lightweights who watch without having to worship or memorise every last detail, and (b) the "already seen it you will love the surprise in next week's episode" people.

Sitting on this three way fence would be easier with a swivel chair but I only get that at weekends.

Posting or not posting on any given forum will be a function of which tab happens to be open at the time a brainfart occurs, with significant factors of mood, laziness, time, weather, and quite possibly trifle.

I hate the word 'Gammon.' Really hate it. Not that keen on the meat let alone its use as an insult by backslapping, smug idiots who think they are our intellectual and political saviours.
Not sure how DS ever allowed this to be used as a tool of hate against posters, it should have been outlawed when James2001 and co started using it.
