You can add andykn from that EU-AZ vaccine thread to that list. Spent the entire thread refusing to budge, constantly asking for links to anything he disagreed with - and never read any of them or acknowledged them, because they all factually refuted every lie he regurgitated.

It was at times like that when DS desperately needed a chunk of moderator/users who could just spend time chilling on the forums and help maintain a better environment pro-actively. They could chime in and tell individuals they need to sort themselves out - perhaps dish out the occasional temporary thread ban till they got the message, etc.

So many endless threads were allowed to get taken over by one-eyed trolls. But the mods were only ever interested in responding to alerts against people who broke arbitrary rules - and it was often decent forum members who were just getting exasperated with the 'thread destroyers' who ended up getting warnings.

DS is probably the best example I've ever known of how NOT to moderate an internet forum.

I see James responded to you with his often recited myth that the Politics forum was a right wing echo chamber, pre 2017. With a post that he saw fit to edit nine times.

I remember it being somewhat more balanced. Never a right wing echo chamber.

It seems like its any criticism of somebody who's trans or non binary is not allowed these days. You have you just let them do what they want otherwise you're an evil transphobic bastard.

I'm not anti gay, bi, les or trans. I know people who are and don't think any less of them because of who they are.

Although I do think the non binary stuff is utter rubbish. It is just another of those things getting rather stupid, out of control and promoted by silly people.

Ah but this is part of the pleasure of watching Corrie and participating in the thread - and it is often admitted on there. Some posters say they only watch to take part in the thread! I think a lot of the comments are tongue in cheek anyway.

The joke is Mark is speaking the truth, but the Nasties are too ignorant to see it. Now the Politics forum has gone, they will try to post their leanings on any other thread. Serves them right if by doing this they will also end up getting the remaining threads closed.

You honestly have to wonder how these people behave in the real world?! Are they just as aggressive and confrontational? Hmmmm I bet they're just keyboard warriors and DS is the only place they have status.

It is supposed to be a dig at white middle aged people who voted for Brexit.

It could be classed as racist, as they also use that term against ethnic minorities who voted for brexit too. There is simply no distinction in their blinkered view.

According to some on DS, ALL people who voted for Brexit were white 'Little Englanders'. It clearly hasn't occurred to them they are also insulting a large number of black and Asian people (particularly in the Midlands and North) whom also voted for Brexit.

Can you see the contradiction in their views?

Well happily kneel for you for BLM. On the other hand we have no issues insulting you for voting Brexit (even if it is indirectly).

A cursory check of the AV forum shows that the stray Wildebeest are slowly settling into their natural habitats. Sierra Mist has taken up residence in the Covid threads awaiting his ascension to demigod, and a few of the politics dwellers are already brexiting, corbyning and Johnsoning to their little fluttering hearts desires.

I am a little worried about James2001 though. He was an immense knob of course. That’s a given. But he was also a clearly very troubled individual and I do wonder if he has the mental capacity to contextualise and proportionalise today’s events.

And i’ve never really noticed her before, but still in the smoking ruins of post apocalyptic DS. Polly Perkins. What an asshole.

However, on DS you HAVE to support Labour, you HAVE to support remain, and you HAVE to have to support the WOKE mindset, to the most finest detail.

Yes I remember GGP and the incident you refer was one of the most bizarre things I saw on DS. GGP was a Marxist. And by that I mean a real actual Marxist and not the catch all insult Hard Righters throw at anyone with Left of centre views. If I remember his opposition to the EU was based on he felt they were an impediment to the institution of large scale nationalisation and a centrally planned economy.

It was literally impossible to get any further left than GGP without falling of the end of the world flat earth style! So I therefore assume if anyone accuses him of being far right that person must be floating in space somewhere between Mars and Jupiter thinking “Effing hell, why is it so dark?”.

But there's a prime example of everything that is wrong with that thread. Discussion about Az vaccine in Italy. Martin makes an obvious joke/flippant remark about 'You can't trust those Europeans' so what does BanglaRoad reply ? 'Lovely xenophobic comment' . I wonder who will report Martin first?

I also see Staker has popped in there. i4u and Bunions also enjoying themselves. i4u has taken to ripping Steve Allen part these days.

These people are just so angry all the time!! It must be exhausting.
