I had a rule which went as follows. The more sure Landis is about something (which usually involves a long-winded post) the more likely it is to be wrong. It worked again and again.

However I have never seen Landis as part of Team Brian and is unlikely to be one of those pressing the report button day after day.

I'm not sure if I want to be able to return. The LBC thread, which I mainly posted on, has become a cess-pit of spite. On the other hand, it might be worth it simply to annoy a lot of the current contributors when I pop up. I'm baaack!

You could return at say 9.50 am on a weekday and announce you have just found a Monitoring Device outside Tooting Broadway station. Then a few minutes later you could say you have switched it on.....

I fully agree, there have been far fewer posts on DS in recent months. GD for example, rarely gets more than 1.4 pages of current posts. Just looking now, the first page still has posts from yesterday and the very early hours of this morning.

@FenellaTheWitch, some of us no longer still have the privilege to post on DS.

I wouldn't think she is/was a troll with that post sum, but I'm not sure about the contents of those posts.

A very obvious troll must be Tanya1982 - 6000+ posts since June 2020.

I don't believe some posters are also mods but I do think that some posters flag things up just for the sake of it. I had to laugh when I was posting on the TV forum thread about Wolf Hall and mentioned that Anne Boleyn was eventually beheaded. The post was removed and I got a warning from the mods about posting spoilers!!

That's the kind of stuff that has made DS a laughing stock.

The problem is that the warning system is cumulative. So you get a warning for something pathetic like that and if something similar happens, next thing you're on a 24hrs ban, then a 72hrs ban and so on. They don't take incidents on a post by post basis which then makes it very easy for a poster to be banned.

Wow, the cancel culture brigade have really upped the anti on the D.S. Steve Allen thread. Just catching up the posts tonight and it looks like the infiltration is complete. Another thread they don't like subverted. They'll be pulling ranks with establishment bodies high up next to have him removed using the current climate of pseudo hate speech and the right not to be offended. I suspect his days may really be numbered now.

Case in point. You don't do detail.

So many words, so little content. The 5 week gap has been explained over and over and over.

For crying out loud - it is scientifically impossible to assess what the easing of one set of restrictions does to R,

and having a dig at the sleeping dogs forum as well: I don’t flounce. (It’s funnily enough something dogs which aren’t awake do a lot)

I had been reading that thread last year, as it's good to read from lots of sources to see how people are viewing a big subject. I had to stop reading the DS thread as it was both depressing me and freaking me out that people could be so stupid and naive. The amount of people on DS who are gleeful about causing doom and gloom is too damn high!!!

The shopping thread they had about covid was infuriating too. All chiming in on how awful the panic buyers were, yet all of them were stocking up on extra things they didn't need 'just in case', they were booking up delivery slots and cuing each other on to when the slots became available, and some on them seemed to be trekking out to shops every day to report back on queues and stock levels. It proper wound me up, that these judgemental sods, were the fucking problem!!!

Most DS posters wouldn't last 5 mins over here they would be told to f off if they start that nonsense here most likely grabbing their pearls and sniffing the smelling salts with some of the threads here.

They'd get a bit of a shock that's for sure. Imagine having to read posts were people disagree and don't pander to you!!

Yes. I reported the comment which is something I very, very rarely do and it was later removed but no ban. Other posters have been banned for a lot less.

There's something very wrong if someone can post something like that and not get a ban yet I know people who have had bans for pointing out a posters spelling mistake!! My bans have been for the most ridiculous things and it actually makes me angry reading that kind of post is apparently acceptable.

I think I know who you're talking about. If I remember rightly, he lived in Hull. He was obviously looking for some kind of girlfriend, kept asking for a pic and sent one of himself. We didn't correspond for very long ...

I think she is who she says she is. Otherwise whoever is behind that account has has been remarkably consistent. I don't doubt that her stories are a load of bullshit though.

i have zero problem with threads like this, ive never bothered replying on them as its eff all to do with me, but the main problem is that if a man did the same about a woman the whole thread would be closed and you would end up with a warning, to be honest it feels like the modding on DS is now reflecting Britain as a whole, i'm cool with people doing whatever they do, as long as everything is 50-50 and fair all round, but it feels like the wokes dont want this, they literally want to cancel anyone who has different opinions, not even far right opinions, just disagreeing over anything and they alert mods and respond in a real nasty way, to me thats baiting, once they cross a line then i should be able to give as good back, but again their posts remain and if you respond you get the warning or ban along with the warning or ban for disagreeing

Someone posted their doubts about Markles interview and i agreed , sure enough a warning come through "we have deleted your posts as it could be seen as downplaying racism" , WTF ?? this is where i pointed out the stupidity, i hadnt mentioned race, i agreed some bits sounded doubtful about her story, but they made an assumption, so they can warn you over their own make believe now you dont even have to make a statement, they will warn you using their own presumption, its just ridiculous, i think that was my last little war with the mods before realising i dont need the arguing or DS in my life

Now while I would usually welcome a new user to these parts and share a moan or two about DS and it’s numerous foibles with them and the rest of us, I feel I can’t do that with a certain new user sadly.

So I think that signals my time is up on this part of Tattle...

Yes I could be more of a grown up and just accept them on here but when I experienced quite nasty and personal messages at their hand on DS, there’s absolutely no way I want to spend any more time around them.

It’s petty, it’s childish, but it’s for my own good really and that’s what matters most - in these times more than ever.

Maybe I’ll see some of you around elsewhere on Tattle and for now I’m still on DS (for my sins), so I’m not going for good.

has anyone joined in the last week or so , oh yeah , i have
sort of makes me feel paranoid, not sure ive sent any nasty personal messages on DS so i dont know who that could be, or how you could know who a certain new user is on DS

i mean you could reveal the name of a certain new user just to stop the paranoia

@Purrrrrrr You've certainly made a very astute observation, so thanykou . I've definitely changed over the past few years but I don't necessarily think it's entirely down to my time on dogs. If anything, that forum just reminded me of how I don't really get a lot out of it any more. I think "life" (if there is such a thing..) also got in the way to a certain degree.

there was someone called Kwynne on the ED thread , who would pour over every single comment and answer them all the next day, usually after watching the episode so he could then say to people "no you are wrong" i think he thought he was being clever, but he wouldnt use multi-quotes , he would answer them all individually, so the next day you got pages of waffle usually acerbic with no sense of humour

I see over on the Steve Allen thread they are accusing Steve Allen of being homophobic just because he dared to view some negative views on certain gay characters. In these days of Identity politics I don't suppose they could possibly comprehend that it might just be the old fashioned view that he doesn't like the gay community being stigmatised by some of the more flamboyant personalities stereotyping gay characteristics.

I didn't realise until after he died, but the actor John Inman apparently used to receive a lot of resentment from the gay community for his Mr Humphries character in Are You Being Served? It was seen as too stereotypical and a send up of the gay community.

Of course over on DS there is no nuance of views. With the PC brigade in force it can only ever be either one extreme or the other. God help if anyone should deviate from that.

James30 is treading a very fine line with his latest comments about Steve.

That poster is a very odd one. He just trolls that thread and has done for years. He's a repetitive as the guy he claims to hate!
