The thing is, the Internet being the Internet, people are very weird about sexual assault cases.
While it's a very different situation to Russell Brand, there was the Smartschoolboy9 situation just months ago (yes, that is real and not a creepypasta) where the memes and attempts at vigilante justice actively hindered police investigation of a prolific pedophile.
People have to be careful about what they say and do in these situations.

There was a really nice member on DS called Pumping Iron. Mixed English-Chinese from iirc East Mids. He got banned simply for writing a comment wisely advising someone not to get into transgender discussions on the forum.

Chap from Ireland called Plums and Pearls, I liked his posts. He did join AVF and posted for a while, before announcing he was taking a back seat. He didn’t say why, but fair enough.

Also a very nice poster was Laureline. Highly smart, intelligent professional lady, but never came across as up herself or superior or anything like that. She is French-German, speaks those languages plus, she writes in perfect English. She was on DS and joined AVF.

Overall I enjoyed my time on AVF but sadly it was becoming more and more like DS - as in, “HOW VERY DARE YOU HAVE A POLITICAL OPINION DIFFERENT TO OURS!” coming from ridiculously left wing members who love to gang up on anyone else. Even the site owner has no respect for anyone who doesn’t share his political opinions. And these are people who call themselves “liberal”. The irony!

There was one particular member on there who had problem that I intend to move to the US and that I’m happy that Trump got voted in. It particularly irked this person (and some other members) because I’m Asian, a woman, and I don’t feel threatened, victimised, persecuted or oppressed in the US.

Also, and this was quite a shocker - a forum member a few months ago made a thread with screenshots to show that the site owner casually joined in, uninvited into a private message conversation between this forum member and another forum member. It was a conversation about nothing controversial at all. No reason for site owner to butt in at all. Naturally this forum member was pretty alarmed, as others aware, including me. And the reasons given for the butting in were absolutely poor.

I tried to find that thread again at a later date for reference but I couldn’t find it. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was deleted. It was obvious to me that the site owner reads people’s private messages for entertainment, and on this occasion got confused, thought it was a forum thread and so replied, and then got busted.

Shame, cos aside from the weird site owner and some annoying, ignorant forum members, there was some really nice ones (including RustyBin who you mentioned) and some nice threads and discussions. But I just couldn’t stick around any longer.

The thread you mention is under "AV Forums resources/Feedback support & site news" and is titled "Forums founder/staff member entered a private chat". It's on page 3 of the Feedback Support sub forum and the last post was made July 23 2024. I'm not entirely sure, but I think you need to be an AVF member to access that part of the forums. The site owner SW tried to explain it as an accident, like you I don't believe it for a minute! Here is his post on the matter.......

The tiny number of people who have permission to search conversations get them amongst all the search results. As you have seen, the presentation of conversations on mobile is virtually identical to the presentation of threads, so it would be possible for someone half asleep late at night to accidentally scroll to the bottom and send a message in the quick reply box without reading any of the messages on the page.
The conversation title here was 'The Covid Thread' so it's easy to see it and confuse it with a Covid thread.
That's what happened here, I'm certain.

In the CBB racism debacle and the foul Danielle Lloyd, she even questioned if using racist language was in itself racist and because Danielle was 'so beautiful' people were misconstruing her behaviour. I had to log off if I'd been on the wine because that fucker would have had me banned for life if I'd been given half a chance. I always assumed she was a woman tbh. The original parasocial nutcases. Josie was awful, but she was an ordinary looking, overweight woman who managed to ‘pull’ the house hottie and a lot of women projected onto her. It was glaringly obvious to everyone else he wasn’t all that into her and in fact was probably deep in the closet but there was no reasoning. I had so many rows with them.

The BB forum was brilliant. So many slightly misogynistic weirdos like Veri and Mactowin who’d accuse all female viewers of being ‘bitter jealous old hags’ when a female housemate they fancied would get evicted.

I think Occy has been banned. I know people got annoyed with him/ her but they clearly had issues with theit written English. The LBC thread were downright nasty to Occy. But then they’re all a bunch of vile, arrogant twats. No wonder the thread is slowly dying.

One or two would only appear when Occy posted just to berate him.

I met my partner on Digital Spy He was asking for some difficult advice, he was in a bit of a state actually, and I just messaged him saying that he sounded like a lovely guy and hoped he'd get things sorted and be happy. Anyway, still together almost sixteen years later.

I do remember there was one couple on General Discussion who got together and were really flaunting it. It was pretty hot and heavy for a while. Can't remember their names though.

I remember the guy who started that thread posting a really bonkers one about going to someone's house for his work and seeing a child with a tattooed scalp. He was all for calling Social Services. He later claimed the tattoos were transfers and he was mistaken. No idea whether any of it really happened.
