I’m just so worried about ending up with a fake with second hand now. I bought all my designer bags second hand (except my mulberry) but fakes are literally rife I just don’t trust anything anymore. I have nothing against if someone wants to buy a fake but don’t then try to sell it as a genuine. It’s really putting me off buying now which is such a shame. Like looking on vinted 90% of designer bags are all new with tags…. Like surely that’s a red flag for a fake cause who is buying a £2k + bag and not even taking the tags off then selling it???
It is a minefield. I mostly only buy from reputable sellers from Japan but on a handful of occasions I’ve spotted some definite fakes for sale. So nothing is 100 per cent safe when it comes to secondhand. If I’m unsure of something I just won’t buy. And I wouldn’t buy secondhand newer LV models because some of the newer fakes can apparently be really convincing.

I looked at Vinted a few times and I was shocked at all the blatant fakes for sale being passed off as the real deal, so I stopped looking on there.

My one and only (probably forever) Chanel bag I bought from an in-person auction house (who also do appraisals and authentications) in Germany so I trust that.

They’ve been on my radar for a while but tbh I don’t particularly love any of the designs enough to pull the trigger. My favourite is the new Hudson tote in chocolate suede which looks really lovely. I’ve heard the quality isn’t amazing but they also apparently do lifetime repairs. I saw a TikTok recently where someone bought a damaged bag on Vinted and then, after contacting Demellier about a repair, got it replaced! Which bag are you thinking?

As for Mulberry, they priced me out years ago and I just can’t spend four figures on a bag. I really like the new Maggie bag but it’s over £1000 FFS.
I’m the same on the Demellier. And Mulberry, tbh. I really like the new large Amberley satchels - esp the navy blue one.

My issue is that I need a bag with a decent cross body drop as I can’t carry it in my hand / perched on my shoulder and it just means I’m forever looking at the same styles.

Sorry if this has already been asked before but I have decided to clear out all my tat in stages and replace it with nice once off pieces that I can build on. I would love to start with designer belts for jeans / trousers and would love if you could recommend some nice timeless belts that would look good. Any help would be appreciated as it is a minefield out there 🙈
I am pretty new to fancy stuff myself. I find reversible belts a really good idea, it’s like two belts for the price of one, and it takes up less space. I have a Valentino Garavani 20mm reversible black/tan belt with gold hardware. And a 40mm monogram/black reversible belt with gold hardware. I get a lot of use out of both. Looks nice with jeans, trousers and even on dresses.

My husband has a lovely Ferragamo reversible belt. The quality of the leather is superb. I’d steal it off him but it’s too big, so I wouldn’t mind one myself. If they made one in a beige/white combo (which they might but I’ve not checked properly yet) I’d be interested in that.

Hey, has anyone ever sold anything with designer exchange? I’ve got some barely worn loubs and some off white trainers in decent condition. Both with all the box etc included. I’ll never wear either again but I really want some nice white heels for my wedding, thinking that could be a way to fund them.

I was thinking of Louboutin Jane Mules or Hermes Oasis sandals. Does anyone have any similar styles to these they would recommend?
I don’t think you will get much for them from Designer Exchange. Have you had a quote? Unfortunately shoes don’t hold a lot of value, unless they are a currently desired style? You’d probably get more on eBay, I’ve had the most success on there when selling designer shoes.

I’m going to visit Bicester at half term, for the first time at the grand old age of 45 😂 I’ve been wanting to go for over 15 years but I just never got around to it.

Unfortunately I’m going with my husband who is a total fun sponge when it comes to shopping. I’ll probably tell him to go entertain himself so I can browse happily without being aware of how bored he is.

If you were to buy one...would it be ?

LV - Alma BB
LV - Speedy Bandouiliere 25

would be in Damier Ebene canvas. Not sure if I'm buying but I keep being drawn to them
The Alma for sure. I saw a preloved one recently and was so tempted but I'm trying to be good. Maybe if I get another work bonus 🙊

This just came up on my FYP, quite taken aback at just how many Polyester dresses she managed to find 😱 I understand there can be some benefit to a small % of it to give structure in outerwear, but there’s no reason any of these dresses need to be >50% polyester, surely?! Some are 100% 😳

How do you know which sellers on eBay are legit or not? Do you have any names to look out for?
I’ve previously bought from Boom2hanten, Brand Off Tokyo, Brand_jfa, Brand Street Tokyo. They have sold loads of items (as in tens of thousands to probably 100s of thousands) each, and their feedbacks are in the high 90-per cents. That’s really about as trustworthy as you can get, but still always be cautious as the odd fake item can slip through the net (I dont specifically recall seeing any fakes on any of those eBay stores though).

Which designer was it? I’d expect a dust bag with any brand mid-market and above.
Chloé and Vivienne Westwood. They were cheaper online with a code plus I got a good deal with my credit card for a spend up at HN, so not sure if that’s why but I was still surprised to not receive a basic dust bag with either of them.

Tiffany are an actual swiz. Think I'm gonna pay £150 + £10 postage for repairs on those bracelets....one of which I've already paid £150 in repairs on twice where it's broken....
They only cost me £150 each when I got them (currently £260...) but the repairs now far outweigh the value or worth. No sentiment so...time to say goodbye! I've emailed back saying nope, not paying that.

Be deadly for me

I usually avoid MK as think they're not the best BUT at xmas I spied this bag, didn't get it, regret it...never saw at BV... UNTIL TODAY
I frequently ask him not to tell me what's on as I'd have no money left :ROFLMAO:

Just reading through the thread and saw the comments about Tiffany. I wear a Tiffany necklace everyday. Never take it off. It's a few years old now but it is sentimental. The chain broke recently and I was looking at having it repaired. It was very expensive for what was needed. I found a proper old school jeweller near me. They repaired it for £9.50 and it came back cleaned. Absolutely like new again.

I agree. I'm sometimes worried about taking my strathberry on a night out, nevermind a bag that's over 1k 😂 i think mid range is a great level in terms of quality and price. I don't see how you could get much better quality for a higher price and that's what matters to me
Exactly! All I hear about Chanel and LV is that quality is dropping, whereas Strathberry make their bags in Spain and the leather is beautiful. I’d rather have 3-4 mid-range bags than one from a luxe brand tbh.

I'd try one if the designer FB pages. There's some really good selling sites on there (woc). Or maybe consignment with Your Preloved Stories on Instagram.
