It's a bit weird to just dismiss them. It's rather Goveian.

I'm just thinking from a funding perspective - presumably the FBI pay for themselves, it should make the investigation much more thorough. But these small town police forces do what they like.

Any idea when a trial is going to happen? Because they don't seem to be in any kind of a hurry to have one.

It just all seems very odd and disjointed. I can only think it will become much clearer in the trial.

Do we know the bullet could only have come from HIS gun? Could it have just come from the same model?

He apparently confessed to his wife but is pleading NG? It seems odd you'd plead NG if you know the prosecution have a confession. He has also essentially placed himself at the crime scene with a weapon and the car. He's being remarkably honest but also pleading NG. It's odd.

I'm not sure what to make of the eyewitness testimony. It's notoriously unreliable but if the affadavit is correct they do all describe a similar man. BUT they all say they saw no one else in the trail. That doesn't mean anything as they were all there at a similar time and didn't see eachother.

I'm really not sure what to think!

It's a really odd and creepy case. I don't usually have interest in American crimes because they're basically a dime a dozen but this one is truly strange.

I agree this case is utterly bizarre. On the face of it, the cult idea makes no sense. If a cult was looking for people to use in their nefarious activities, it seems rather unlikely that they would target two girls who would immediately be missed in broad daylight on a bank holiday. They would target someone vulnerable and isolated.

I still think it’s likely to be Richard Allen with a sexual motive. 😢

I think the idea with the bullet is that he may have 'racked' the gun (when you pull back the top bit to load a bullet into the chamber), possibly to scare the girls into moving, and then 'racked' it again during the act and the bullet ejected unused. It supposedly has markings on the casing matching the inside of his gun.

Guess we'll find out for sure in a couple of weeks!

I still cant believe he lived there and worked in the town all this time and nobody recognised it was him.
He apparently didn’t charge one of the girls families for photos he developed for him.
I guess he’s been mentally evaluated to be fit for trial, I know they are not filming it live but I hope court tv have lots of coverage.

Give me "One Hour Photo" vibes. I wonder if he took a copy for himself. (Robin Williams movie)

I’m pretty sure the audio clip the police released was only a small part of a longer clip. It will be interesting to see not only what else was recorded but also if there is more of the man talking whether that points even more to Richard Allen.

I watched something the other day that said if it's not him, he's the most unlucky person alive with all the circumstantial evidence against him.
Honestly, I think it's him and he just got lucky that they didn't pick up on his admission of being there early in the case. I'm also positive they'll have more evidence than what they are sharing
I do think the way it's been handled has been all kinds of messy!

I thought this. He'll have said a lot more than "down the hill" to make them video it, although I understand that the poor girls started videoing because he was walking back towards them.

One of them also said "Gun", didn't they?

Yeah it will be so interesting to see it laid out by the prosecution. Agree, the way it has been handled, considering the seriousness of the crime is mind blowing.
