That’s what I meant the patreon pays for the articles she now writes for her patreon subscribers, who have chosen to subscribe.

I love her (not at all fussed about her books)but I do think she went a bit overboard in lockdown about having the children all the time. They have sun sun sun in LA and a garden with a pool so yeah, shoosh.

Are you subscribed? I don't fancy her articles but would like to listen to her podcast but only because Chris seems to always be on it and I like him!

I was a SAHM for years, so it hasn't bothered me having my kids off in lockdown but a lot of my friends who normally work full time or use childcare have found it harder. I think Dawn has to write a stage musical (about the spice girls?) and probably another book so I imagine it's hard to write when your young kids are making loads of noise but I also think she uses them for content! I bet they didn't get on her nerves as much as she implied, it's a bit of an 'act'.

Yes I think it’s an act.

No I’m not subscribed. I was briefly tempted but ultimately couldn’t be arsed 😀

I have liked The Cows and So Lucky, I would say they’re good holiday reads. I do feel she tries a bit too hard to be ‘shocking’, particularly in The Cows.
I don’t follow her on insta now as she just seems to moan.

This post has made me feel brave enough to say The Cows is the worst book I've ever ever read. The storylines were ludicrous and it was not the big comment women's relationships with other women it was touted as.
The Cows was awful, I agree. large phobic, not one person of colour (strange for a book set in London). My boyfriend bought the So Lucky as he thought I was a fan, but I don’t think I’ll bother reading it.

While I’m here... not sure if this been mentioned already, but I definitely sense tension between her and Flack’s London pals (Lou Teasdale, Mollie, etc). Anybody else notice that?

The Cows was awful, it was like an influencer's rambling IG post trying to empower women in more words than is necessary.
What frustrates me about the Patreon is that when she first mentioned the idea and was asking opinions she said it wouldn't affect her IG posts and stories, which were at times really funny. She hardly ever posts now so she clearly doesn't have enough content for both (this was also the case pre-lockdown so that's no excuse) I feel she has excluded a large number of followers, I don't want to pay to read articles but I did enjoy watching her stories. Other people manage to have both their paid/blog work and the random stuff they post on IG

Yes when she first asked for opinions on Patreon the majority said they didn’t want it but she said she was doing it anyway!

Before Caroline Flack died she didn’t have many patrons but after Caroline died and she posted a few things about it she gained thousands more Instagram followers (she had lost a lot through the patreon thing) and so a lot of the new followers must have signed up to her patreon so now she’s making the money she wanted she’s not arsed about Instagram!

Well not until she needs to promote her next book 😉

I used to really enjoy her stories (looking for her stolen phone was classic) such a shame she doesn't really do any these days. Money talks I suppose...until there's something to promote.... I agree @Suzesnooze

I remember that story! I used to love her stories, she used to cheer me up and I would be laughing out loud. Also loved it when her and Chris would do one of their drunk singalongs (also Chris is pissing me off on Twitter lately!).

But she is generating her own income already. And as a married couple I would expect them to share money between them, that's not sexist, that's common sense. It just seems very greedy to me.
Myself and husband don't share our money. We share the bills and mortage but after that, that's our money and we spend it on what we want. We'll buy each other presents etc but after that what we earn is our money so Chris and Dawn not sharing money is probably ideal on their parts. If that's what you're talking about

I used to like her until she changed her name to O'Porter. I thought it was so pretentious and try hard. I'd say I feel neutral about her now. Must check her out on Instagram.

Hmm..I thought she would write about Caroline Flack’s death at one point. This is a quick release.
Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about this. Obviously I have no idea of the content and how much she will talk about Caroline but I'm not sure if it is in poor taste idk. On one hand it seems odd to profit from it (though dawn does seem charitable so she would possibly be donating), on the other it might be a good way of raising awareness of what happened to Caroline, mental health and dealing with grief, and also celebrating Caroline and providing some balance after how the press treated her. What does everyone think ?

The thing that doesn't sit well with me is around the time of Caroline's death Dawn had started losing a lot of Instagram followers (probably due to her Patreon) but once she posted when Caroline died she gained loads of new followers and everytime she posts a photo of her she gains even more. Back when Caroline died she only had 200K plus follower..now she has around 440K! I think she must sense that anything to do with Caroline gives her a lot of engagement so I think she knows this new book will sell because of it. If she gives money to charity, fair enough but I don't thinks she will.

Also Caroline didn’t follow Dawn on Instagram before she died which I thought was odd given they were meant to be really good friends... wonder what happened there?

I’m pretty sure she did follow her. They were really good friends.
