Are these people just supremely arrogant to think they will never get caught? I've seen him swanning about on TV doing interviews in the past year like nothing happened. It amazes me how they feel like they are Teflon and nothing will happen to them.

It's psychopathic/narcissistic behaviour. But they do say that those in power or crave it normally have psychopathic traits. It wouldn't surprise me that so many of those in the media/celebrity world are like this.

Re Williams-Thomas theres something about him I simply don't trust, ex copper, he seemed to deny that the police didn't cover for Savile at any point, which I don't believe.

A lot of celebrity friendships seem to be artificial, or for PR. Re my post, I found it interesting re the stag party guests, it surprised me that he mingles with David Furnish for example. I just wondered how their paths crossed, and was prompting further discussion. I seem to have mentally blocked out DW for a long time and was genuinely surprised to see who he had been linked to.

As you say, someone's public appearance, isn't always the same as the one behind closed doors. We all know that from personal experiences and it's not fair to judge us for things we aren't aware of.

I wouldn't question anyone whose show DW has appeared on, as I assume they were told he had been hired as a guest, which they had no say in. I may however question anyone that chose to appear on his podcast, or socialise with him, once the rumours of inappropriate behaviour were rife within the industry. Just my opinion.

For example, it surprised me that David Baddiel was a long term friend, including recently being on DWs podcast earlier this year, after I assume rumours were rife at that point within the industry. Also, I thought I saw that DB had been a victim of the hide the sausage stage act, but I may be mistaken, or maybe he found it funny. I'm in no way implying DB or anyone else are involved in any wrong doing, but I may question recent contact with DW.

It's interesting, I've listened to French and Saunders podcast and it made me question how close they actually are. There'a bit where Dawn says, "I've been in your house" and refers to some design feature Jen has. That doesn't seem like something you'd say to a close friend? They talk about other things you'd assume they already knew about each other.

There are interviews with Mitchell and Webb where you can tell they're very distant from each other.

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant openly admit they were never real friends.

I think celebrity friendships are often just a case of "There's always good publicity when I appear in public with that person."

Come to think of it, when did we last see Matt Lucas interact with David Walliams?

Not sure what to make of all this stuff about DW - not because i am a fan. I am anything but. I also think there is something about him that makes the hair stand up on my neck and makes the internal warning bells go off. His behaviour makes me feel uncomfortable and I find his "humour" bizarre to say the least.

He does not ( and hasn't ever) made me laugh. I did not like Little Britain - based on an episode I did watch and as result I didn't watch Come Fly With Me. I am trying to recall why I didn't like either show at the time - I would like to say because I didn't like both Lucas & Walliams mocked anyone who wasn't able bodied, thin, white or physically attractive. BUT I imagine it's because I just didn't find it all that funny.

Despite what has happened with HL and the Telegraph article - not sure that this is when the whole truth will emerge. I assume his lawyers/ PR team are all holding up a carpet and trying to sweep it under. This stuff wont stay quiet forever though - these types of story rarely do. It feels like its just scratched the surface of what's to come.

What bothers me is that they all still do sweep it under the carpet

Until Society truly says enough is enough then the BBC and the David Walliams of the world will be empowered to behave this way

I came across this reddit post from 6 months ago. This is damning if true. It wouldn't surprise anyone tbh.

I can’t dispute his claims obviously but this guy always came across as fairly unstable (imo) and I think he’s actually been in treatment/sectioned since, according to what I’ve heard. Not a fan of ML or especially DW, but when this guy released some phone messages ML sent him they really didn’t seem incriminating or weird? I thought maybe it was just me, but most of the comments from people agreed.

The way ITV protect the likes of Walliams and Schofield, they are like the BBC in the 1970s. At least in the 1970s one can understand how victims felt they'd never be believed and the culture was such that certain things were deemed more "acceptable" (not that it made anything that happened right), but it beggars belief that in 2022, predatory behaviour is still covered up.

This thread is a slow one so I'm replying to old messages, but I had to say something about this. Nobody else seems to remember Capturing Mary! Yes, he was convincingly creepy in that drama. It gave me chills.

I've had a bad feeling about David Walliams for absolutely ages, but feel as if I'm always waiting for something incriminating to emerge. Nothing's affected his career so far.

Speaking about his inappropriate behaviour on TV, I also think it's so immature. It's as if he doesn't know how to behave in public and has no awareness of other people's boundaries. And maybe I have no sense of humour, but I don't see why pretending to have sex with men is so hilarious? Oh look...it looks like they're having sex but they're not really...such wit. Did anyone see the panel show (it was either 8 Out of 10 Cats or Would I Lie to You) where he did the same to Phil Spencer. It was so uncomfortable to watch, not because I'm prudish, but because poor Phil looked so awkward. Just did a quick Google search but can't find the episode online.

Make me sick to think of how much my children, and myself, liked his books, when they were younger. I spent a fortune on them. And now I hear he probably didn't even write them. Although maybe it's just as well. He got the bloody money for them though! Hope the ghostwriter name is/are made public some day so they can get the credit.
