Yeah I watched it. I'll admit before I had doubts and thought he was maybe just misunderstood like emotionally immature and "stuck" in a child mindset. After watching it, I no longer have doubts .

Likewise. He was a master manipulator. His lawyer was infuriating as well. If he was innocent I think he’d still be alive. Really feel bad for his own children, his victims and their families. It seems he wasn’t shy about blackmailing his staff either. His poor maid.

As I usually watch on catch up, I'm not sure if the current series is still running:
24 hours in police custody on channel 4. There's an episode dedicated to just knife crime. Unbelievable how easy it is to purchase knives like that

The Nicholas Prosper case was shown. I knew very little until I watched this programme. It was rather disturbing

Is there any real crime books people would recommend?

I have a few!
The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule is about Ted Bundy, written by Rule who was helping police catch him without knowing he was actually a friend of hers. Excellent book. She has written loads of other good true crime books too, such as Small Sacrifices about Diane Downs, the mother who shot her children.

Others I recommend are Somebody’s Mother, Somebody’s Daughter about the Yorkshire Ripper investigation, and Happy Like Murderers, a really detailed book about Fred and Rose West. Their daughter Mae has also written a book about her life growing up in Cromwell Street, which is also very good. That’s called Love as Always, Mum.
And another excellent book is called Escape From Evil, written by Peter Tobin’s ex wife Cathy which details her hellish life with him.

Personally I don’t think the prosecution did go over the top showing her tiktoks. Was showing how she behaved after what she did. Was showing her true character.

As for her parents. They must have blinkers on.

Yes her no-boundaries parents were clearly part of the problem

I'm just wary of making too much of kids' trend-following on social media, they copy each other, and every new in-thing and 'influencers' - it's hard to say exactly what it reveals about them and I think the friend was right when she said the adults didn't get the meaning of the tiktok songs etc. But I think the physical evidence and witness testimonies were enough for a clear verdict. It was a terrible thing to do.

Oh, I had no idea - never listened to a podcast in my life (I'm old) - so you're probably right.

I only started listening to podcasts when I listened to a Lucy Letby one after the trial ended, and now I'm hooked. Laura's is one she does with Iain Stirling called Murder They Wrote, it is available on BBC sounds, about 30/40 minutes each and a fairly easy listen. (If you ever wanted to dip your toe in)

I’ve just finished watching convicting a murderer. It’s not often I would pay to watch something on top of all our tv subscriptions but it was worth it for the ten episodes. There’s a lot making a murderer left out/edited. Not sure what you think of Stephen Avery & the case but this series is very eye opening.

Honestly I WAS thinking Avery has a valid case BUT having not watched the Convicting a murderer & reading here I'm now doubting myself....

I also kept thinking hiw much Kathleen Zellner looked like Hilary Devey (dragons den)

Are they on Netflix? As a teenager I couldn’t get my head around something like that happening in a public place in broad daylight.

Yes on Netflix. I always remember it happening and often wondered about little Alex. Iv seen things about them over the years, but the documentaries and docu series is really in depth. It's lovely to see Alex and André remaining so close and with a clear bond. But the footage of little Alex dressed in his thunderbirds outfit describing his mum being attacked is the stuff of nightmares.
Rachel looked like such a ray of light, she seemed so beautiful inside and out.

Watched it today having never heard of this case.

The simple answer is it's a mental illness - that's why Beverley Allitt is still in Rampton. I think if they (anyone) could prove that Meg's liver disease and heart problem (her ultimate cause of death) was caused by being unnecessarily over medicated by her mother then you'd be talking. But still, Jean is unlikely to face any punishment if the MBP can be proved. The usual sentence for a diminished responsibility plea, which is likely what this would be and accepted by the prosecution, if the evidence from experts is strong enough, is a hospital order. But the subject of the 'threat' (Meg) is no longer here so what would be the point? Although Jean could have found a new target amongst her over 60's followers

A very sad case. I think her sister must feel so much guilt because basically she ran away and left Meg in Jean's clutches. So many WTF? moments though.

I’m 4 episodes in Crime & Progress, I got the 7 day free trial but it won’t be hard to watch all 10. I’m obsessed, the first 3 my heart was in my mouth the whole time, it’s so stressful to watch.

Cold Case Forensics on ITVX featuring high profile cases solved by the absolute goddess that is Dr Angela Gallop. Very interesting and uplifting to look at the level of thinking at work and to know such incredible & intelligent people exist.

I believe it's Dr Angela Gallop who is involved in the testing of exhibits from the Lin and Megan Russell murders in 1996. If anyone can use DNA to finally answer this case, she can.
